There's a "whos who" of Trek alumni in this episode other then Shatner. You have Malachi Throne from the two part episode "The Menagerie", then you have Lawrence Montaigne from the episode "Of Gods and Men" than lastly you have James Sikking who was Captain of the USS Excelsior in the movie "Star Trek, The Search For Spock"
I bet both both teams in sporting events I always win... or more accurately make a profit! This is because of the differences in how bookies calculate odds on events. Special software gives you 100% accurate picks! See link in my channel!
Soooo What about the singing alien on Venus?? I would be more intrested in finding out what the heck THAT was?? Lol, good episode, Shatner is always good-:) Btw, that alien looked like a Sid & Marty Kroft creation, lol!
@calvingmail He's getting over a case of Venusian VD.
This episode gets my nomination as the worst in the series. The dialog dives right into the deep end of dopey. Plot? What plot? Alien? Oh, the puppet? I had more respect for the hokey fish creatures in 'Tourist Attraction'. Next episode please...
Kirk always -- ALWAYS !!! -- gets the women !!! The rest of the episode may prove unfavorable for him, but he'll always find time to "comfort" the women.
This is a good one, unlike the "Controlled Experiment" and "Soldier".
The effects are really good for a 60s TV show (they did a very good job with the Venusian creature). Though the space ship exploration part wasn't close to accurate, its way better than that "Lost in Space" show, produced during the same time.
Thanks for the post. This is one of my favorite Outer Limits episodes. For years, the scene of the Venusian creature terrified me but I couldn't change channels or turn off the TV. Instead, I'd alwys either glace away or stand behind a chair.
@chitownvet ... I remeber "Behold Eck". I was reading in "The Outer Limits Companion" that there is a lot of subtle humor in the "Eck" episode like Echk being a "four eyes" and thus needing "glasses" that often went unobserved by the audience.
Shatner is great when he has good direction and follows it. Once he escaped the Star Trek series he became a parody of himself

A few weeks after the events of this episode...the United States launched a nuclear assault against Venus.

"Its doing something to me..Its gotten inside me"...ROTFL....Space rape is what I'd call this. He ran into a Venusian Hillbilly.

Wow "keep me going"...he says that to McCoy as well....as Captn Kirk...you can even see the kirk anger and prudishness here.

No blood--no pill! No hot Venusian chick to cuddle!
No beach to walk on...

Yep, he's got a virus. That's why he's so cold. I hate it when that happens. :-)

Thank you so much for posting this. I can't believe this episode gave me so many nightmares when I was a kid.

The music at 24:09 sound eerily similar to the opening notes of the star trek theme!

The actor at 13:48 played spocks foe, "Stahn" while they were on Vulcan for spock to get hitched!

Overall, I am impressed.

@liquidgee13 , I was the same way. For some reason this thing and Eck from the series really got me spooked!
