  • I had the biggest crush on David Minnehan

  • Thanks for sharing. Great memories!

  • i miss the rat. i miss cantones and space. hell i even miss spit.

  • The biggest crime in music history is that these guys didn't get huge. I'll never understand why.

  • Saw these guys so many times....awesome!

  • monday morning

  • 15 years later to the day Tribe would play their last show at the Orpheum. I miss all these classic Boston bands and I'm glad I was around to experience it!

  • Great clip, great energy...man Oh man I miss the Boston / Providence scene. Lived it Loved it!

  • i don't care what the medical profession says; i love a good flashback

  • Love these guys! When my band Tracks first started out we shared the same manager (Third Rail's Richard Nolan) and rehearsal space ( a church in Newton!) Got to see them a few times after we moved to New York too. Considering when and how this was taped pretty good quality.

  • I may have been at this show?!!!!

  • Two comments: 1) The Hoods Rock some serious Ass!!!! 2) I wonder what year that Strat is he beat the shit out of....probally worth some cash today!!!!

  • '62

  • I love the Hoods. Does anyone know the name of the song? I can't wait to see them in Albany on December 5th!!!! Thanks for the great shows over the years. Kevin Byrne and Dave Williams

  • I believe it's called Monday Morning...

    Have fun tonight!!!

  • Best Neighborhoods clip I've seen! Many thanks for the post! Anyone know the song title?

  • @pernicketty monday morning

  • Gawd, I still love this band. This is just an amazing clip. Thanks for posting it!

  • The heartfelt authenticity of pure rock and roll with an edgey punk feel is most evident in this video. There is nothing stagey or artificial in this song and video. The Neighborhoods were recklessly idealistic and bold in those days. This video captures a wonderful time in Boston rock history.

  • wow !! This vid is 30 years old this wk! They still seem timeless to me. The sounds off a bit here but who cares! it's the Rat! it's the 70's! it's the Neighborhoods! Can't even recall how many times I saw them & it doesn't matter. They were a great live band for quite a while. I thought they had an early UK pop style to them, then; like a US Who c 1965. Minehan just had it back then before the "treats" of the biz took over & he fell so to speak, for US rock this band could've been it for sure.

  • The Rat was small, sweaty and unlike anywhere else. The HOODS light it up.

  • I think I was at that gig! They were awesome!

  • This video smokes!

Neighborhoods in their prime, all brimming with energy and promise. Hard to beat...

  • Hey LeopardJoy, I wonder how many times we slammed into each other at those HOOD shows ? Miminum 30 Dude. David will always be remembered as a giant in 70's Boston rock. Shit, the guy still puts on killer shows. And the very 1st BCN Rumble winners..

  • I was going through some of my old boxes and I found a few old bootleg cassetes and I sctually have this whole concert. The Hoods were my all time favorite band EVER. Great find, thanks for posting.

  • Rest in Peace Mitch.......

  • I was at this show...I remember David jumping up to swing on the overhead pipes and his strap breaking and his guitar just BOUNCING on the floor! I probably saw the 'Hoods 30 or more times...the BEST memories of the RAT shows (and the Channel) were when the 'Hoods played. Thanks for this vid!

    Cheers,

    Joy

  • RIP the Rat! man I feel old

  • Was a great time in Boston way back when bands like the 'Hoods,The Boize,DMZ,ect. played. Not all of them I liked but they played of of their own insturments not turntables or lipsynching.

  • People dancing to rock and roll---who can believe such a thing?

    J Angel

  • CANT BELIEVE I found THE HOODS! I hit all the shows they played back in the day even put shows and benefits on featuring the hoods. DAVID, MIKE AND JOHN really set the standard for punk and new wave in the late 70's LOVE THIS SHIT. The LUCE DOG

  • thanks so much for posting this. they used to get the hottest, toughest chicks at their shows after they released "Prettiest Girl".

  • Thanks.

50-50 I was at this show.
