  • This game is one of the reasons I started giving up on things.

No but really, I could never finish this game because it was too hard for me and because you're so limited in all old games, if you die- eventually you have to start all over again. Good and bad at the same time.

  • great music shit game i never learned what i was ment to do and i had it since 91 still lying upstirs in an old box sumwhere might go find it and kick the shit out of it for this reminding me how much a piece of fuck-shit it really was

  • Looks a lot like Dr. Franken.

  • 20 years ago, THIS "game" was the reason, why i busted my first and beloved Gameboy - had to argue for weeks to finally get a new one :)

    2011:

For nostalgic reasons, i just played it again on an emulator....still the same - close to going on a rampage - inches away from exploding ;)

    The jumping mechanics alone.......... ARRRRRRRRRRR

As mentioned before - pure torture.

  • Aaah, nostalgia. I love the music <3

  • Is it possible to have just a little FUN out of this torture device called "dragon's lair : the legend (ary crap game)" on GB ?

Seems not at all...The developpers were really sick people to create this...

  • This game tokes me nightmares, but theres a capcom version, for the GBC !

  • Well, I can proudly say that I actually did complete this motherfucker... ONCE. The world and the mood are a bit depressing, yes, but the graphics were ace at the time.

  • this game was my waterloo the only game boy game i couldn't complete. annoyed the hell out of me

  • I loved this game and played it forever until I finished it.

  • @jamesstafforduk I didn't really hate the game tbh until I played it again in this review. I can probably beat it, but wouldn't feel any enjoyment out of it. XD

  • Bizarre game this one. Its basically a copy of Rollercoaster on the ZX Spectrum which came out in the mid 80's.

  • @psj3809 Which is not surprise...Both game were made by elite/motive time ltd...

  • I bought this game back when I was like 14...I had fond memories of playing the arcade verson of Dragon's Lair back in the mid 80's....well, ok, not really "playing" so well, more like dying and having to put in more and more money to keep the game going...but I paid as I was FACINATED by the animation and the gameplay...I'd never seen anything like it before!

So when I got this game...well....let's just say I was disappointed.

But with time I did grow to appreciate it. I love the music

  • I got this game too. It's hard as hell, I got to the sword part, but haven't been able to get all the gems...

I think I'm gonna give it a try again anytime soon. Can't stand not having beaten this game yet.

And btw, the music can get tiresome when you play for a long while... But c'mon, it must be one the most badass medieval solo's you've ever heard.

  • Yeah. It makes me sad that they don't create good music like this anymore.

*Look at me. I sound like my grandad...-_-

  • @Galdiii atleast its a classic! and everyone knows, that classics are always better that the ones now. i didnt know they had a sword part. to get to the sword part(at the beginning of the game do you go left or right? right leads to castle, and left leads to some random crap. i wish there was an invincibility cheat ahaha >:D

  • @MrEtzio

I've managed to finally beat this doomed game. I won't spoil anything... But the end really blows :P (Makes you feel as if the game hated you)

Anyway, to get to the huge knight (and his huge sword) you have to go all the way right. Once you reach the border (If I remember well it's the prison, or castle as you call it), then you go up one window, then all the way back left, then up one window again and all the way right again.

  • @Galdiii so whats the ending?

  • @MrEtzio You get 1 screen of some lame text. If I remember right it says something like "Congratulations, you've collected enough lifestones to awaken the huge knight. Now him and you can go save the princess. Lolololol." There isn't even new music to celebrate it, you get the same background music as always.

After that, you get the same Game-over screen that you get when you lose and after you type in your name it's back to the main menu. They don't even show you the credits!

  • @Galdiii let me guess... u were issed

  • @MrEtzio Not quite. I mean, yeah and no. On the one hand I was extremely satisfied and happy because I finally beat this damn game (at that point I had it for around 8+ years without ever being able to complete it). On the other hand, yeah, it felt as is the developers had trolled me for way too long.

For some strange reason now I feel compelled to play it again lol....

  • @Galdiii Roflmao !!!!! All for this ! haha sometimes I do think this game has been created to piss the hell out of all the kids who did play it and were naive enough to think they could finish him !

  • @Galdiii Had to reload savegames a million times - but i've finished it. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME :D

    Uploaded the "ending". zZzzzz

  • I reached the sword many times... before understanding you had to take ALL THE GEMS before getting to it ! And then, absolutely nothing happens, and the game is over ^^

  • Oh, shit. They made this for the gameboy, too?

  • Seriously?! Am I the ONLY ONE who loves this game and actually knows how to get to where the sword is?

*On another note: I also thought, as a child, that you had to find a way to get the sword and armor together.

  • I guess so. I just didn't understand the game back when I had it.

  • There's a sword?

Gosh darn it, i can't find anything useful on the internet which could help me in this game, and there's a SWORD?

  • I loved the music of this game, and how much detail they put into the scenery. I finally completed this game about a week ago and felt so complete.

  • Actually I found the music pretty good.

  • @squishington1 The music is so bad. It's just the fact that i's the only song I heard for the whole game besides the title screen and game over screen. The slowness made me think of a grimmy scene, hence why I stated depression.

  • @Smotile *isn't

  • @squishington1 the music still haunts me...

  • I swear I got abit more a head of you and I couldn't get past and I didn't know what to dolol. WHAT IS THE OBJECT OF THIS GAME? Collect all the Golds? Thats it? I swear fucking frustrating game and hardest game ever seriously lol. All you do is fucking jump wtf LOL :D Good vidoe though 5/5 :D

  • has any1 ever actually completed this game. pretty sure there would be no one in the world that would have even bothered to try.

  • Sadly, I tried to beat it when I owned it. I gave up and just thought it was a waste of time since I found out I had to go all the way back just to find all the gold.<<

  • I remeber playing this as a kid, its when i learnt to swear..

  • by why is the ground so lethal???

that's what i always wanted to know as a child

it must be purely luck that i didnt grow up to have agoraphobia because of this unbelieveably frustrating game

  • simpsons camp deadly

  • haha i hate this game ! .. only good thing is the music . i started the gb just to listen it :p

  • This game is pure ass. Nothing else.

  • the game is a port of a five-year-old ZX Spectrum game, Roller Coaster,

  • Hate that game SO much...

  • Awesome video 5/5. Hmm...It's definatly different than all of the other Dragon's Lair games but it seems better than the n00bish NES version.

  • Impossible. That game HAS a dragon.
