Your information is wrong. Turtles do not need plants or decorations to be happy. It looked like his tank sized looked fine-- but it could have been bigger.

turtles are happier with as much space as possible and they do need rocks and plants to hide.

u didnt give it a big enough tank, it needed more sunlight, it had nothing to play around... no plants.
i can definitly see why they made you give it away

i had 2 turtles a res and a painted turtle almost had to give mine away cuse parents thought it was making me sick but it wasnt the turtles so im ok
