  • it is sad that this movie didn't get the distribution it needed

  • I do not understand why this movie hasn't been release since the Oscars and Golden Globe nominations will be released in December, 2011 and January, 2012. I wonder what went wrong with production and distribution of the movie. The trailer in my opinion is very good and appears to be Oscar worthy. Mr. Terrence Howard did an excellent job as well.

  • jennifer hudson es una reyna!!!

  • Powerful!

  • how about we let the movie come out FIRST before we bash it or the people in it.........people are gonna flock to this movie just because jennifer is in it anyway.....this movie is a MAKE OR BREAK performance for her......

  • If Forest Whitaker could loose 100 pounds he is also the BEST man to play Mandela !!!!! Did you all see the ast King of Scottland! Jill Scott can pull it off too as Winnie Mandela she gotta loose more weight too! If I were the director that's who I would have choosen! Jamie Foxx or Forest, and Jill Scott !!!!!

  • Looks interesting to me, I still have mixed feelings about Terrance Howard's performence with him doing Nelson Mandela's accent! Jennifer looks ok but not the best choice for Winnie, Jill Scott should have done it! If she lost more weight! But still I would love to see how the movie will turn out! Personally I always picture Jamie Foxx as a young Nelson Mandela, Iam surprise that they didn't pick Jamie Foxx to play him, unless he turned it down! I bet his accent would have been right on point!

  • @natedoggg2002 Thats exactly what i was thinking Jill Scott, i mean jennifer is great and she did great but Jill Scott should've got the role, for 1 she resembles Winnie when playing the life of someone they must have a close resemblance, and 2nd Jill Scott can do a great south African Accent plus her acting is just as great as Jennifer.

  • @Nayelle1290 GOD-DAMN!

  • @jordanjamesx Okonedo already portrayed Winnie in a BBC film called Mrs. Mandela!! Thats what I meant by watch her play Winnie. Then go see JHud. Literally night and day performances. And winning an Oscar doesn't mean your a consistent great actor. JHUD won for her one scene in Dreamgirls cause thats what she does best, sing! But she can't Act!! Her being cast as Mandela was political..in entertainment business terms. If your not in entertainment, you won't understand.

  • @proverbsgal Sophie was brilliant in Mrs. Mandela, as she always is. I think she's much prettier and a FAR greater actress than Jennifer too.

  • :(

  • OMG, Terrence Howard (nothing against him personally), that is the WORST most CONFUSED portrayal of an accent I've ever heard in my life! Madiba sounds NOTHING remotely close to that

  • look, Winnie Mandela disliked. hahaha

  • @jordanjamesx I just said that! I don't disagree that it's "business", however, African actors are not getting the crossover opportunites that British actors get here in Hollywood. You know how British actors get cast in lead roles playing Americans in TV and Film here in Hollywood? Too many. Thats why South Africans are upset. It's the integrity of the role and Jennifer Hudson does NOT having the training to carry this role. Watch Sophie Okonedo play Winnie. I'd cast her over JHud in a second.

  • @proverbsgal But Sophie Okonedo is netiher attractive enough or famous enough for the role. Winnie needs a beautiful black woman that is famous and YOUNG and that is Jennifer Hudson. Okonedo is 42 years old far too old to play a YOUNG Winnie which the director obviously wanted. Jennifer Hudson is also an Oscar winning actress and Okonedo is NOT.

  • @Siyincaba Can you get real for a second? Apartheid has only been over for less than a generation. You cannot erase the white supremacy, and the entrenched discrimination blacks experienced in South Africa and claim it is time to move on.

  • AGHHH!!! AS A SOUTH AFRICAN M SO NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THIS. THE ACCENTS ARE SOOOO BAD. CANT SOUTH AFRICANS PORTRAY SOUTH AFRICANS?

  • The problem with this is that its poorly cast. Jennifer has NO depth as an actress. She won an Oscar for" And I am telling You"cause she's a singer NOT an actress. WTF were they thinking casting Terrence, the yellowest brotha in Hollywood. If I were Mandela I'd be offended. He is not Nelson Mandela. Howard doesn't have Mandelas essence. The accents are horrific! Omg, I'm not looking forward to seeing this.

  • @proverbsgal Why don't you wait until the movie is released before you criticize Jennifer Hudson? How do you know Jennifer is not a good actress? The director and the studio WANTED Jennifer and no one else!

  • @JordanjamesX I don't have to wait till the movie is released. Jennifer was cast purely as a marketing and business tool to make the film money. If your not in entertainment biz you wouldn't understand. You think Beyonce gets cast cause of acting abilities? No she's an international music star with an international fan base. Cha ching for the producers. Don't be fooled by Oscar wins. It didn't do much for Halle berrys' career and shes a trained actress.

  • @proverbsgal Of course, Jennifer Hudson was cast as the female lead why would the studio cast an unknown South African actor? Hollywood is a business and the studio NEEDS major media attention to generate publicity. An unknown South African actors would not get worldwide attention. I understand some South African actors are upset but Hollywood is a business. Why are people so upset about this film? Could it be because this film will tell the truth about Winnie Mandela?

  • JEN'S LIPS LOOK HUGE MUCH BIGGER IN THIS MOVIE OR IS IT JUST ME?

  • Wow, such negative opinions for a movie no one has seen yet. As of today, Jennifer herself hasn't seen the movie yet. It is still in post production. So don't be quick to pre-judge something. That's just another form of prejudice. :-/

  • Good heavens! This american actors's so called "south africa accents" are so foreign even to me as a black South African, born and bred in SA. The accent borders more on the north african accent,...and yes it matters. I forgave Morgan Freeman (as Mandela) and Denzel washington (as Steve Biko), but im gatvol now. This is not even close.

PS:....and im also tired of the apartheid movies about my country. I wish there was more of post apartheid stories told, the good and and the bad.

  • @IT6PR Apatheid might be over but the legacy of white supremacy in South African cannot be ignored. Apartheid ended less than 20 years ago so I think it is a joke to suggest to not discuss apartheid. White supremacy in South African must not be ignored. White supremacy still exists in South African the world should NOT be fooled that things have really progressed that much. Racism still exists in South Africa.

  • @JordanjamesX Racism exists throughout the world!

  • Congrats Jen ur second Oscar and Terrance your first. God bless you both and don't worry about the haters

  • @1adalton These are hardly oscar performances by the two.

    1. If you know how truly fierce Winni Madigizela-Mandela is and 2. If you know the SA actresses who would have portrayed her as fiercly as she is. Pity for Holyhood purposes they had to pick a well known american actors...pity. But it is what it is.

  • I'm unfortunately REALLY WORRIED about the quality of this movie. You hardly hear anything from Jennifer during the trailer, and what you do hear is not impressive in terms of accent or dramatic delivery. I fear this movie (about such an important subject) is simply going to be BAD!

  • @gwinstonj True...if this trailor is anything to go by. This movie is going to be terrible. And its not the actors' fault (even with their terrible SA accents). Morgan Freeman's accent was just as bad...but Clint Eastwood must have done something good behind the lense and with the story...this one is just terrible.

  • the accents are bad they should have done their homework properly

Matt Damon is hands down the ONLY american that pulled off a south african accent in a movie

  • I hope Jennifer shows more emotions than what we see in this clip! She looks pretty stone faced for most of it so I hope she get's into emotions where she is yelling or fighting or being really angry and stuff like that so we get to see more sides to this character!

  • I think they both pulled it off well!

  • @just2juicy

    nope!

  • they need to start casting africans to play africans, or stick to don cheadle

  • @ndeze

yeah. terrance howard looks nothing like nelson mandela

  • @ndeze What did you mean by that? You mean coz Jennifer is African AMERICAN that she's not FULL African? Something like that? I just wanna know that's all!

  • @Support4MySingers no not at all, i wasn't going to take it there, but when the actors are not believable then its distracting......

  • Boooooo!!! They pick a guy that loves white women to play a guy that was fighting them. Booooo!!!

  • hng

  • amandla awethu...

  • if terrance was chunkier he could have pass for him physical but the accent was on point it isnt easy to speak in those tones

  • terrance howard and jennifer hudson what

  • Is this a joke?

  • Y is everybody downin Terrance? I think he is a good actor and he did a good job.

  • Will Smith should have been Nelson Mandela

  • @BigPapiPhx I'm with you on that...lol!!!

  • @BigPapiPhx OMG totally!

  • terrance as nelson? NAH, bad choice.

  • they should have chose somebody else for the role of Nelson Mandela.Right?

  • I still don't think Terrance was the best choice for the role, but I wonder if he'll win the Oscar for this.
