You know, I have this problem myself, and I think I'm a lot worse than you are. I think it's just some kind of subconcious need to fill in gaps while you're trying to think of the word you want. At least that's how it seems for me.

Anyway, I noticed after going at it for ten minutes I get into a groove and no more umms. Save doing that, I wouldn't worry about it. It may incidently be part of your charm. Either way, very good effort. Kudos.
