  • As Meg said in A Wrinkle In Time, equal and alike are two different things.

  • I agree that people should be able to earn what people are willing to pay them. But I also believe that these people should be taxed more. Pay scales make all the sense in the world. You're not going to take an equal amount of money of somebody that uses it to buy food than you would from somebody who needs it to buy a luxurious sports car. Food money has more relative value than sports car money.

  • I love people that are stupid enough to write .99 cents and thinking it means 0.99 dollars or 99 cents. LOL at you Lee.

  • I can not do video editing, nor am I an artist, but I can do a indwelling catheter. So If you ever need that skill Lee I am your guy.LOL

  • We are not all the same. For example, this guy has an almost magical ability to produce strawman arguments. He pretends "equality under the law" is separate from "all men are created equal" which he decries as forced conformity. It's not. It's the principle that people have the moral worth regardless of their economic status. He twists the problem with Communism into support for feudalism.

This is like listening to Rick Santorum imitate Ray William Johnson or SXE Phil.

  • "The whole premise of OWS is that we're all equal." No. No it's not. Where do you get this straw man nonsense? People are angry that the reckless actions that brought us into this financial crisis haven't been punished. Nobody in OWS thinks that you should be able to play in the NFL if you suck at football. There are valid criticisms of OWS but this isn't one of them.

  • The slo-mo speech made me laugh 0:36

  • Not again. I though Browncoat Eric was worse! Jefferson meant that we are all made of atoms! Hence we are created equal, for we are made of tiny particles rebounding, colliding, entangling, denigrating and reformatting in endless space for no reason.

  • This shits bananas

  • This guy just pull one over his supporter, and it shows how moronic anyone who buy into this crap. We are talking about being equal under the law, and the wall street crooks are using the laws to their advantage because they can buy it. According this his argument, we should let all criminals out of prison because they can steal from and kill people better than the rest of us.

  • @feonjun your going to have explain that.

We do end up letting people who steal and kill out of prision. Not because they steal and kill better than us, but because they have years of time and access to a library and computers and teach themselves law. Since the police and the current system are not perfect, there is ample opportunity for those people to get out on technicalities.

And the wall street crooks probably already know these technicalities. Deal with that problem first.

  • A mid class man pays about 37% tax

A multi-millionaire pays 15%and LESS in tax is that fair ?

Free Market is not more then Economic Bulling !!!

  • @marionetemanJ do you like to see people in pain and suffering ???

  • @parsonman05 Please break down your tax rate that you cite. Is the 15% on investments only? Does the multi-millionaire pay taxes on other income? Do you know?

  • @annahojorb Google it , also look up tax loop hole that multi-millionaire use !!!

  • @parsonman05 No, they pay 37% as well. Then they reinvest their money on capital gains in which they pay AN ADDITIONAL 15%. Technically some of their money is taxed at 52% when you think about it. The idea that they only pay 15% is a complete campaign meme.

  • @TheChrisbulkley1980 do you think getting intent on money is an income ???

  • @parsonman05 Income is what you get that for showing up for to a job and doing what you are hired to do, with the exception of commission and bonus, you can bank that money as long as you have that job. Investment return is different. Sure you can make a lot of intended money, but you can also walk away with a loss. Happens a lot. All these super investors that everyone is complaining about, they have all made multimillion dollar mistakes. Lose is just a probably as gain.

  • @parsonman05 my dear friend please don't think it as that way. Multi Billionaire are actually the one that create jobs. And higher taxation force firms/business owner out of the country bring jobs with them. Stop with the misunderstand, it all about instigating class warfare.

  • @LalallaSN Multi-Billionaire don't create jobs they export.Small business create job in a country. The idea of the free market its Greed by a different name. Also it takes away from the humble tradition of doing business 1on1 to back alley style of sell anything at anyprice to make a quick buck at anyone cost.If a business is big enough to go global it should lose all tax loop holes

  • I remember hearing over and over in college about how healthcare is a universal right, and therefore everyone should have it. What does it mean that something is a right? If healthcare costs something, but people should get it for free, then it means that someone else has to pay for it. Moreover, life is not a fairytale; there are realities that occurr somewhere between the idea and that idea actually happening. I used to tell those kids "I have a right to play golf like Tiger, but I can't!"

  • Uh, just like free-willed individuals don't want to watch you in the NFL, these free-willed people didn't want John Lewis to speak at their meeting. While you mock their "Jazz Hands" methods of voting, you condemn their right to autonomously decide for themselves how their organization functions. Free marketplace of ideas? You basically contradict your own point in the video, and also seem to think that you know what's better for people than they do. Aren't you conservative? Subsidizing Lewis?

  • @MrRiisLarsen good job missing the point. He's not saying they shouldn't be allowed to vote him down. He's saying how their ideas for doing so were wrong. Cancer should have rights too I suppose. After all some of us are fat, and some of us are smart but all of us are EQcuALITEE

  • I think where folks get confused is when theyre taught that everyone is created equally and then realize at 22 years old mommy, daddy and teachers/ professors were softening reality. The reality is people are smarter than you. People are better looking, have way bigger cocks, grew up with a silver spoon. Don't whine or complain about the unfair world. I've never seen a hearse pulling a uhaul full of money. Work for respect... Ps I fought a war too and I'm glad it was for all you.

  • Equal protection under the law and economic equality are not the same thing. I agree with your stances on both as reality, but I do not agree with using inherent wage inequality to justify legal inequality. Doing so suggests to me the approval of judges applying the law differently based on ones economic class. eau de bourgeoisie

  • Why are you going for that creepy hypnotist stare?

  • Great point but I think you need to work on not repeating the same things over and over.

  • Awesome point, I've heard it a lot, and it's inarguable. Not to mention, I do NOT want to be like anyone else. My body is average for my age and gender, I hate being average, it sucks.

  • great, so you agree to 100 percent inheritance tax then? having a golden spoon up your ass isnt a skill, neither is being born with the skin colour of the majority, neither is joining a criminal cabal

oh right, wallstreet isnt criminal, because they pay the law-makers to make their practices legal, equality under the law means shit if the law is corrupt

  • without television, huge stadiums and the advertisment industry - things enabled and created by society - your glorious linebacker wouldnt be watched by millions, structures supported by society as a whole enables the linebacker to make millions, he didnt earn it by himself

and btw.: without big tv-broadcast and giant corporate advertisment maybe you would be playing football now watched by your community, who has lost here?

  • People bring up the topic of equality yet when i tell them that they could always move to a different country if they hate whatever is in their country i get told to fuck off. I guess it's too bad that 90% of all chemical engineering graduates are at risk of relocation for the first 10 years of their careers. I dont like legalised unlimited donations to politicians or bailing companies for failing because they're special. But to support selfish people hiding in OWS wow

  • I watched a video by you, thought I'd watch some more cause it was good, but it's not.

Occupy Movement wants the rich to pay more tax. If you're being payed $1m, you should be able to afford to pay more tax than a person payed $45k.That's the movement in a nut shell.

  • man i cant believe i went to war to protect the free speech of asshats like this guy. have some compassion man.

  • @rikb631: In which 'war' was free speech in USA actually threatened? I'm genuinly curious.

  • Cmon Lee, you have to admit that the rich have an easier time with the executive, legaslative, and judicial systems because they're rich. They can campaign better through dollars, they have money to attend law schools, they have enough money to get better lawyers etc. This is why I sympathize with the 99% movement. If we can fix the inequality then we'll have a fairer system for everyon, not just the rich. But you won't change your mind because of a youtube comment so, really, this is frivolous.

  • @pluralZZ9 How do you propose to solve this problem?

  • @pluralZZ9 It's the people's responsibility to vote. Don't blame money, take some responsibility.

  • @pluralZZ9 Why is being rich so much better than being poor.

Like you said rich people can do things that the poor person just can't afford.

Making something free won't help, because everything has a cost...its just a matter of who is going to pay.

In that regard there will always be inequality. Even if you get rid of the entire concept of "money" you will still have people with inate ability/skills/assets that will use them toward their advantage.

  • How ironic, I don't want to listen to your bullshit either.

  • what if someone was born retarded or handicapped and their parents die. They have no skills that anyone would want because of their handicap, do you believe in disability provided by the Gov't (taxpayer money) to help this person at least just get by (food, shelter, etc...)?

  • Someone's height is not something that can be helped, but greed is. With a fairer tax system, high inheritance tax for the rich, and allowing everyone to develop the skills they need to be successful at something if they apply themselves through a comprehensive education system.

  • Huge strawman, but nice tackle xD "THURR YA GO DOREN" Lol

  • Occupy aren't asking for millions of dollars. They are asking for equality. I have heard you speak in favour of free market capitalism. Which means that a bank that loses all its money should be allowed to fail. Like the countless businesses that have failed in the U.S. Bankers will always be able to earn huge sums of money because of the nature of their business. But there is no reason for banks to get special treatment in terms of the rules a FREE MARKET.

  • I hate your opinions and most of your vids. But good tackle!

  • wow, this is such a strawman..

  • This is why women should not be in the military, police, and firefighters. We already have better people for the job. They are called - men!

  • I subbed because of other videos but you made me change my mind. Thank you.

  • 2:48 you said a mouthful. Equal and fair under the law is all the people ask. I love how you just gloss over it and put it aside. But, surely you can see a problem exists and it has nothing to do with ones skills. The occupy movement is just trying to point it out.

  • Nice try with the video, but your "logic" and false equivalency is full of holes. Now I will preface with this, if we were a country that promoted unfair and unequal treatment and opportunities, then your argument would have traction. But you cant have unequal educational environments, unequal hiring, unequal judicial systems and practices...then turn around and claim "meritocracy". If u werent given the same opportunity to succeed as other football players, u would sing a different song.

  • Stop generalizing the protesters' ideas. You make them seem like communists. If you're against the bailouts that much, you'd better support these people. Off course everyone is not equal. But everyone should get the possibility to develop their human potential when growing up. Anyway, you seem to ignore the fact that money basically corrupts, no matter which system you use. You should try and think outside the box...

  • Here's how people become more equal from a determinist standpoint: For the best nurture: Have a kid if you have the proper level of resources to support that kid. You don't have to be rich, but I would feel very guilty about having a child in poverty and have to suffer through that. For the best nature: abort a fetus if the current scientific instruments can detect serious mental and/or physical and/or emotional problems

  • jew alert

  • it's not a question of equality, it's a question of equal opportunity..using your football analogy "if a kid is proven he is the best player but he cant afford the equipment dont you think they should find some means for him to play i mean he's proven he has the skills to make it he just is lacking the funds to play" im not saying the gov sponsor football equipment but the idea extends to gov programs cause at the end of the day if all kids are given a fair chance you'll see society maximized

  • NO!!!!! Everyone should be equal. Vin Diesel isn't allowed to be stronger then me and Kobe can't be allowed to play better then me. Also if you beautiful that isn't right so now you must wear a mask to cover your face. If you run against someone slower then you have to wear weights. It's only fair!!!!!

  • The violin (chello? viola?) at the end was my favorite part of this video.

  • Oh my God. He is a Lady Gaga fan. "Born this way"

  • 95 people think they are equal to you Lee.

    Great video

  • Yes they are theatrically as Jon Stewart pointed out, but that doesn't negate some of their major issues.

  • So all occupy wall street is about is egalitarianism?! Gee according to you guys (conservatives, but not exclusively), occupy wall street is a bunch of disorganized, unemployed liberal youngsters with no single coherent message. Seems you think otherwise. You swiftly gloss over one of the biggest parts of the message which, you yourself admit you agree on; There was irresponsible and criminal business practices that led to economic instability and that bailouts are unacceptable.

  • Why do I feel like this guy misses the point?

  • Who would of thought that Marx and Engels and their delusional science fiction could have ever come so far? You simply cannot ignore human nature and pretend that a socio-economic perspective can solve everything.

  • To be honest, I would love you to play linebacker for the Buffalo Bills, it would be the funniest thing Id see this year

  • Imagine you're creating a society but you have no idea what your place in society will be, (you could be poor and disabled or you could be a celebrity). Well assuming you don't want to take a chance and be poor and disabled, society should help those that are the worst off.

People didn't choose to be born all star athletes and such, and people didn't chose to be born poor and disabled, society should help those worse off.

  • maybe when your offspring die of hunger because it is fair to treat them differently you will understand how the world works

  • I'm for equality of opportunity.... not equality of outcome.

  • equal under the law, right, but wall street is obviously scamming and rigging the system, betting against investments, and so on. what they are doing is WRONG and they are SWINDLING investors. This is FACT.

although I do agree the majority of this protest is absolutely ridiculous, but that's just how the media is portraying it. Go down to the protest. for every bongo hitting hippie there are five well educated people who really know whats going on.

  • @mrphantomxphantom LOL hai guiz erybudiz equel!

  • Of course people should be paid according to their skills. But strongly regulated financial markets like Canada and Australia did better during 2008. Wall st. buys politicians to remove any regulations. The executives gamble with American's money so that they can increase profits/Bonuses. There is a conflict of interest between shareholder's long term value and the short term greed of executives taking "EXCESSIVE" risks. How can a company like GE earn billions and pay no taxes? but we pay more?

  • @dotaonline I live in Canada and what you are saying cant be more right. People don't even talk about politicians in Canada, mainly because they are doing their job within regulations and doing it RIGHT!!!

  • Holding!

  • While you make a good point I think this is also a bit unreal and idealized. (Not as silly as not letting John Lewis speak because of "equality"!) I mean there's still nepotism, luck and prejudice that decides who gets hired. And yes, some people are more suited to be stock brokers, and they should be allowed to make more money, but this is a damn large income-gap we're talking about! And if you come from a poor socio-economic background you have very little chance to get out of it.

  • Great points Lee, but it might amusing enough to pay to watch an NFL running back careen over you a few times :-)

  • Holding.

  • First; nobody is ever born with a skill. nobody is ever better at math or sports unless they work hard on these skills. Hard work is what gets you good skills.

  • @beefstu20077 not true, everyone has a feeling for certain skills that come naturaly. everyone can learn any skill, but for some people its mutch harder than for others.

  • But Lee, you tackled a guy during pass protection..Flag...15 yards...unsportsmanlike conduct...but good tackle nonetheless

  • this whole video is one big strawman

i never heard nor seen a sign in NY that says "we're all equal now, gimme your money".

the reason people are in the street is because money'd interest's are changing and have changed the "LAW" too suit their agenda at the expense of everybody else "the 99%". i just dont understand how even a republican like lee cant see whats wrong and why PEOPLE are pissed, not republicans or democrats, progressives or conservatives... PEOPLE.

  • Incredibly well said Lee! I'm sharing this on Facebook!

  • I am so glad I don't advocate poverty any more, Howard Zinn really fucked with my head.

  • And if i can make millions of dollars defrauding pension fund managers by selling them toxic assets, then shorting those EXACT SAME assets, I should be allowed to. What? If I'm a better thief than most, I should be paid whatever amount people want to pay me for my "talents" to do so.

  • The fairness principles expressed here are clearly valid, but Lee you're showing great (nefarious) political skill: you make an unassailable argument a la "parents must not beat children" and nonsequitur to "therefore we must end the war."

You see, you frame all of your valid discussion around what YOU interpret as the protesters' agenda. Where do you get that from - mainstream media?

And further, who made you God in determining if Lewis is nothing but a cancer to their goals?

  • Comment removed

  • Lee, I disagree: we need to be all equal, we need to have perfect equality, therefore, I propose, to create a state and have a few special people have the unequal ability to decide what others can and cannot do in order to be equal but the ruled do not have the same equal right.

  • WHAT DOES AIG produce? WHAT DOES BoA produce? NOTHING...they manipulate the economy...it's not capitalism if someone didn't earn it...it's corruption...fair opportunity. That is what we want...SCREW YOU...when tea party protesters protest...it's great...when blue collar workers protest...they're thugs, etc. THAT's BULL SHIT...FUCK THIS ARGUMENT....I disagree...I apologize to any conservatives out there... And btw, THIS ISN'T FREE MARKET...DUHHH!!!

  • Every conservative argument is a straw man. This douche is saying that liberals are communists who think we should all be equal. We just want everyone to have an equal opportunity. By the way, that's holding.

  • @YouKnowWhatItIs3000 you're the one making the straw man

  • @YouKnowWhatItIs3000 Every youtube argument is a needless exaggeration. See? I can do it too.

  • I am a liberal, and I like this video!

  • Love your stuff guy, but your missing an angle here that I picked up when you mentioned how they shot down Lewis (I'm not following FWS). Their procedure sounds oddly similar to Anarchy... I'm not sure if even they have noticed that, that is what they are trending to... in fact I doubt they know. Anyway yea I wrote an article about why we should take a second look at womens rights and equality also comparing it with affirmative action. I've gotten mixed reactions honestly.

  • There's a flag on the field.

    Holding.

  • Dude Lee!! We should set up a huge movie screen and sound system and just play bar stool economics over and over on a loop. Maybe after a thousand times hearing that it will Sink in.

  • Well said Lee. Thank you for this video. WELL SAID!

  • Holding, 10 yard penalty lol(yeah yeah no rules.. i guess)

  • You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge and perspective. I'd be intimidated to have a conversation with a person like you for fear of looking stupid.

  • Red White and Bills :D

  • Lee, you are wise beyond your years. I have come to notice that there has been a death in this country which I ashamedly admit that even I was ignorant of until just recently. With all that has gone on and is presently going on in this country, I woke up one day while reading all the commentary concerning the cookie cutter ideas that we should all expect to be treated the same, I realized that the person we once identified as the "Rugged Individualist," was dead, gone, and buried. D I T W!

  • Once I, as an Evangelical Christian, paraphrased Matthew 20:1-15 to a liberal Christian and he declared it was the most horrid and immoral thing. When I pointed out it was a biblical parable he freaked. It's inconceivable to me that people think they can tell me what I can pay someone else for their service...

  • "Jazz Hands Democracy" is nothing more than pure Dystopian Autocracy is which everyone single person is exactly the same and an automaton with no indiviality or anything unique about themselves.......Its pure evil!!!

  • Just saw Reason post your interview with them, awesome job getting on there.

  • i could use a million dollars for video effects

  • OWS is correct in it's frustration, but it is misguided. It's not capitalism that brought us our economic woes, but corporatism. Business in bed with Washington.

  • Bad ass block, dude. Good one Lee!

  • this guys the dude

  • @OneCarnivorous The Big Lebowski.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks

"The Dude" was actually the small-timer Lebowski. The titular "Big Lebowski" was the big-shot millionaire.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks I just dropped in...

  • Tabula Rasa, no we're not all born the same but you're acting like we're born with all our skills which is not how it works. yes we ARE all the same in the beginning but our environments mold us into different people with different skills and disadvantages. is it fair to say that a boy born into a rich family and got a good education is better than a boy who was born into a poor family and couldn't afford that same education? no, we are all the same, our environments are not

  • Did anybody notice how Lee took that guy out? Most NFL players rather collide then grapple the guy like Lee did. Hey NFL players you should take note here and learn something!

  • @CampH While I wasn't framed for football...I was a pretty good wrestler.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks i remember u mentioned u were a wrestler.that explains why u took that guy down so good/.good job man in taking that guy down, also nice video as well.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks wait u wrestled? I wrestle in high school

  • @CampH That's because it's quite illegal in the NFL. It's called HOLDING.

  • OWS is just another case of Rich White Suburban Communist Teenagers having too much free time on their hands.

  • No one denies the protestors(Not the interest groups) have their heart in the right place, but sincerity is an over rated virtue. If your intentions are to make every wealthy and you pass a $20 minimum wage law and cause mass unemployment, does that sincerity make it any less negative?

  • Comment removed

  • dont be fooled. they're neocons. the real people at occupy wallstreet are mostly true liberals conservatives and libertarians. dont let the elitists tear us apart.

we are all good people. different in ideas yes. but many of us are good.

  • Lee we are not all equal under the law.

In most court proceedings the advantage goes to the person or entity that has the lawyers to back them up.

Given a choice between a private practice lawyer and a public defender most folks (or entities) would would go with a private practice lawyer.

As to a company, corporation, or individual - they already choose what to pay. But most of the wages they pay are not in the millions of dollars. Most are less than a living wage.

  • The Looney Left, ya gotta love em! Everyone is supposed equal under the law, it doesn't matter whether your white, blak, hispanic, asian, male, female, gay, straight or whatever, EVERYONE is equal under the Law... yet the Left backs affirmative action......

As Lee said, people are NOT inherently equal in terms of ability and skill, you can't expect to live as well or make as much as someone who far outclasses you in ability, the job should go to whoever's best for the job, that's what's fair!

  • Comment removed

  • of corse were not all equal im an excalent cook and pritty good artist but as i only 8and a half stone i cant never be a power lifter and its not fair and cause im a girl i cant use the male toilets, well suppose i could rambling a bit but hey good vid i agree with this guy

  • Nice work, Lee.

  • 0:21

Sorry, I gotta throw the flag.

    That's not a TACKLE.

    That's HOLDING.

I know you said it was "no rules football," but COME ON--that was heinous! Even for backyard football that was heinous.

  • @HowTheWorldWorks

Pretty sure if you couldn't be Linebacker you wish you could have the foot speed to play Special Teams. I remember seeing NFL Network's Top 10 Players Not In the Hall of Fame and #9 was a guy who seemed to rock return men like a Linebacker. A 7-time Pro Bowler and one of the best Bills and Special Teams players of all time, namely 5'9" - 185 lb. Steve Tasker. Special Teams is about hustle and guts and he seemed to have a lot of both from what I saw. Oh, Happy 4-1 start!

  • If this video is 3-5 years old you probably could of played for the Bills, Lol. Anyways great video as always, you provide a common sense approach to these sorts of things.

  • Actor's salaries should be capped, why are they better than me, those damn fat cats in Hollywood :)

  • I understand if lets say, a doctor or engineer makes 200K a year, and I understand how a janitor might make a tenth of that. Their skills are very different and they should be payed as such. But when you have investment bankers making MILLIONS or even BILLIONS of dollars, you know that they don't actually deserve that money. Are you really going to tell me that a guy who moves money around is entitled to 10x more money than a doctor who actually saves people's lives?

  • @oingishpoop You are entitled to whatever you earn.

They took the risk by investing. You didnt.

Investing money and making a profit is hard work and takes lots of skill, moreso than doing hand work

  • @superlucci And whose money were they investing with?

  • @Bleuski3 You are investing in a company. Its your own money. Whether you profit or lose is up for grabs

  • @superlucci Apparently you forgot that Wall Street investors did take excessive risks, privatizing gains while socializing losses through deceptive practices(hence not really taking any risks for themselves at all), leading to the need for bailouts with taxpayer money? That's kind of what this whole OWS thing is about.

It's not that investors shouldn't be able to invest, it's that even after getting bailed out, we're seeing CEOs getting paid large sums for essentially NOT doing their jobs.

  • @Bleuski3 Deceptive practices.

    Example?

I dont support bailouts, that is the governments fault.

Nobody likes bailouts, NOBODY. We te party members do not support bailouts. Period.

    Get tha through your head

  • @superlucci If I need to give you an example then you haven't been paying attention for the last few years. Try looking up credit default swaps.

In any case, we agree on the bailouts(not sure what the Tea Party's opinion has to do with anything), except perhaps that it wasn't only the government's fault that it was needed at all. Again, CEOs are still getting paid large sums for practices that helped lead to the recession-that's what OWS is protesting.

  • @Bleuski3 AkA, you cant make one.

It was governments fault. You take Washington out of it, no matter how hard Wall Street tries, they cant.

CEO's did not do anything that lead to the recession. It was Fanny and Freddie loaning out to the poor who obviously couldnt pay back, due to the governments orders

  • @superlucci "AkA, you cant make one." Did you not read the post? Credit default swaps.

"CEO's did not do anything that lead to the recession." And...you've lost all credibility.

  • @Bleuski3 Once again, it was Washington.

There is the problem. That is where the protests should be

  • @superlucci So you really think it's fair that an investment banker can make 50x what an engineer or doctor might make? I understand they took risks but it doesn't really seem reasonable that they deserve THAT MUCH power for it...

  • @oingishpoop profit is profit. If you make profit, you have earned it.

Nothing is fair in this world.

But I do think it is fair. If the employees under him didnt want to work, they dont have to.

  • Maybe they knew John Lewis was going to try to get people aligned with his agenda, an agenda that went against the message the protesters are trying to send.

Our government no longer works. It needs to be replaced.

  • Don't call these people "liberals".

    They are leftists.

"Liberals" are FOR individual liberties. These people want fascist enforcement & normalization of what the deem to be acceptable & silence & suppress whatever does not fit their narratives.

  • Really?

Alright, that does it, I am officially AGAINST this occupy wall street thing.

I was always VERY suspicious of it being that the majority of them are leftists, but now I got my confirmation.

  • This is just a conservative rant. If corporations were not controlling our government, we might actually have some equality in America.

For starters, everyone should be guaranteed a living wage. How can we even talk about equality when people are paid slave wages?

Workers should have a say in their employment. Right now, CEOs have total power -- a true dictatorship.

I could go on and on. The fact is that the rich currently have ALL the power.

  • I thought that Lee was exaggerating, but it's word for word what the crowd was saying/doing- they want to change the biological characteristics of mankind. I strongly recommend, for all of those who are interested, "Egalitarianism as a Revolt Against Nature" by Murray Rothbard (it's available for free as an ebook; search online for it). It's a short, well written essay on precisely this topic! These ideas, much less acting on them, are profoundly anti-human!

  • Only problem with the Buffalo Bills is that they're in Buffalo, NY.

  • The issue has nothing to do with pay though.

  • People get paid an amount based on the value that SOCIETY puts on their particular skill(s).

That's why football players and actors get paid so much and I don't get paid anything. ^_^

  • Very good points! This is something I've been trying to help people understand for a long time.

  • Your comments about equality apply to business in a free market - we don't have that, especially in banking and finance. Today, we have crony capitalism. My opinion is that if, as a taxpayer, I'm paying directly (equity injections, fed loans, etc) or indirectly (backstopped by the fed, deposits insured by FDIC) to keep the company afloat, I want a say in how its run - ITS MINE!

  • very good, this seems to be a confusing idea for some. inequality is the nature of diverse humans.

  • Well said!

  • Good job as always Lee. Easy to understand analysis, even a liberal should be able to understand. Please keep up the good work. I always look forward to your videos. Thanks

  • That tackle was TEXTBOOK!!! Great fundamentals!

  • John Lewis is a member of our government. His request to speak was more likely denied because it was being seen as political grandstanding by a member of congress. Occupy Wall Street as a movement is against the politics that created the larger mess of greedy corporations beiing seen as citizens with more rights than real people. He wasn't allowed to speakd because he is part of the problem - despite his roots in the civil rights movement.

  • Equal rights not sameness rights....

  • I have Social Anxiety Disorder and because of it I can't go to crowded protests. It unfair that the OWS people get to go to protests and I can't. They should not be allowed to protest in order to make us equal.

"Fair" is the most subjective word in the English language, and "equal" needs to stay in arithmetic where it belongs.
