Coburn (R) Mississippi (very conservative guy) -- was passed -- with McCain's Help! As part of the reform, every dime taken by a congress critter must be on a database and accounted for. DOH. Senator Obama makes no mention of whether he'll take money from unregistered lobbyist firms, former lobbyists, family members of lobbyists, or state-level lobbyists. And what about the the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee or the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee? While these won't affect Sen. Obama's campaign directly, if he wants the Democrats to stay completely off K Street, shouldn't those arms of the Party also shun lobbyist money?

DCCC and DSCC are different organizational structures that he has no control over like he does over the DNC as nominee. He cannot dictate policy to them as he can to DNC. As for unregistered lobbying firms, with the 2007 LDA they will have bigger headaches than Obama, namely potentially criminal charges. former lobbyists & family members of lobbyists have Constitutionally protected interests under the SCOTUS on McCain-Feingold act, so he cannot legally forbid their contributions.
