I love Vue but the render times are uggly; playing Crysis I can't defend a one hour render time on a single pic while I walk around in Crysis in real time with better looking environment; also, you still can't use your powerful graphic card to render Vue...what a joke!
I would want to know what kind of render farm was used to render this presentation. I think there must have been hundreds of PC's to get it out in reasonable time.
Also I'd like to know which is better, Vue for Mac or for Windows.
2yaschan99: Well you can adjust the quality to fit your needs so basically you don't even need a high-end computer. And even then it's quite quick unless you want to have a super-high resolution pictures. So I guess no render farm was required at all. But of course it comes down to quality... About the Mac VS Windows thing: there's no difference whatsoever: the core is the same, GUI, everything. Just the Macs are generally more stable systems so you might take that into consideration.
You don't know what you are talking about BeGunNer. If you want high-end images like the ones seen in this video you are going to need a render farm for sure...
I am afraid you are talking to someone, who has indeed a very decent machine, yet also someone who has on this very machine 3DSmax, After Effects and this very program.
I admit, it all depends on so many things. Generally if you look at other comments, you may see how much time each thing takes. I think there are many sensible guesses.
General 3D modeling software may require a render farm, since it has not been optimized for scene renders and thus the process is very CPU-intensive.
@GTAfreAk112 Contrary to the silly opinions of Intel's Ryan Shrout, "track every lightray" techniques like Radiocity, Raytracing, Photon-Mapping, etc, are basically the bogo-sort of illumination, despite interesting some of those methods (Radiocity in particular) are. There should be no need to take billions upon billions upon billions of floats and do trillions upon trillions of operations on them just to generate an at most 10 million pixel image.
@coskbeatz This is the first 3D program I learnt. At first I was just trying to make pictures. it's good at giving you a basic understanding of what most of the things outlined in this video are.
Then when my work started getting serious, I leant something else. I know use Maya to model and animate, and Vue to render
HOLY SHIT!!! :0 MY GOD!!! I have Vue 6 but this is little better :D:D:D OMG Outdoor and indoor are even in 6 so i think it has only better REAL Graphic Vue 6 and 7 Rullez OMG!!!
Very nice, but the description says that the video is made entirely in Vue 7, but a few of the shots in the video are from previous versions of Vue. I know because they've been in many different videos on the site.

how long could the scene from 0:47 - 0:51 take to render on an
AMD Quad Core 2.20Ghz
5gb ram
512mb graphics card (650mhz GPU clock and 540mhz memory clock)
Any guesses at all?
Thanks People! :D

id gues about 7 hours. yes its much, but this software realy requires huge renderfarms to get it rendered at acceptable times

is this thing really hard to learn, and can you do it with just the vue software or do i need something else? Id like to learn how to do this.

A base on 3D application would be a major help, try to learn blender, then try this, thats what i did and im pretty good :P

Can make scenes right out of box, the sofware siint so hard as the knowledge of landscapes to make things look real.

wannabeanoob 2 years ago
yes you can
famesaro 2 years ago
I have both (6 and 7) but with 7 the render time take an eternity and make lot of crash.
Prefer 6 because more estable and fatser when rendering.
With 7 you have a better material, shader quality and you can manipulate water and foams simulation which do not exist in vue6.
fleshmannn 3 years ago
Hmm funny Vue 7 increased my/others render times by as much as 50%
