how come the 1d is so expencive id have thought it'd be lower considering there now 7d. Also if you paying £3k+ for a video camera why not buy AF101? which is a proper video camera with large 4/3rd MOS sensor, and balancable XLRs inputs.
@nigel101 large sensor camcorders at this price range is new. Remember these are primarily stills cameras a lower pricrange camera won't affect the top end camera!
@zenmachinefilms check out canon's new c300.... i'm not sure about xlr adapters but it's pretty close to what your talking about.... vincent laforet even made a test film for it....
hi guys, im a young filmmaker working on a short film at the moment... now before u regard this as spam please give me a chance. im trying to raise $525 in addition to the $2000 ive put up of my own $ on this project via kickstarter (a crowdfunding site)... if u cud give me a chance, n watch my appeal video, that wud mean the world to me.. i need all t support i can get, and ur contribution can be as little as $1... everything makes a diffrence.. so plz give me a chance to make my dream come tru
This is great, but the REAL work for this film went into location scouting. just because it was shot with only available light doesn't mean this guy didn't scour the city looking for decently lit places. Its not like this wasn't planned. Good job.
I think the Panasonic AF100 will kill the DSLR market for filmmaking.Canon and Nikon had the chance to make a Camcorder with a large SLR sensor.Especially with millions of cinematographes screaming out for them in forums.I don't know why they didn't listen.
hey hollywood, please give these creators ass loads of money, and/or drugs or whatever their creative minds need as rocket film fuel and watch them fuck the whole worlds mouth.
I think this kids first issue, is that his skateboard is from the 80's. the video looks great though!! I got the t2i, although this looks a bit better, I still LOVE IT!!
this video looks great but I think the 5d Mark II creates a more cinematic feel than this camera..? Why is that? We shot our last music video on the 5d at 3200 ISO (see our page) maybe it's the full frame of the 5d...
Canon bring out a Camcorder with a Full Frame sensor like this one or even better a full framer like the 5D Mk2.Recorded to a super codec onto a onboard Harddrive.
You'd have a winner .Give us customers a Global Shutter and there will be the perfect camera for shooting movies of any budget.
XLR inputs and uncompressed 24 bit sound would be icing on the cake.
@zenmachinefilms Cant agree more, i keep hoping all those photocam's will be a price breaker for better semi pro cams. I would love the have this in an xh a1 package. if they don't, the dslr's will probably take over
nowhere near as good as reverie .... these cameras can arguable out perform 10's of thousands of dollars worth of Red camera's in low light performance, all in a compact shell .. this is truly a revolution to the film industry.
high ISO's don't count for much of anything if the pictures can't be used because of noise and artifacting. I love canon cameras and i would like for them to start focusing more on the noise levels at high ISO's. We don't need the high mpixel count. does any1 agree wit me
It's great in shooting at night I'm impressed.Thats why i dont understand why Sony and Panasonic make 1/3 inch CCD's in their P2 and XD Cams.Bigger sensors mean bigger pixels catching more light making them light sensitive.Independent filmmakers don't have the budget to have 30'000 watts of lighting and generators when you should'nt need that in the first place.
When you look at the credits and see the amount of work the other crew members contributed, you know that the camera was just a small part of the overall production. Great work to all involved.

First of all, i have never shot any bikini girl, so i dont know what you are talking about ? Secondly, why are you cursing ? Is that your only way to disapprove ? Do everyone MUST agree with you ? ...
"....it can see more than the human eye..." , Obviously, there are some people here that dont even understand the difference between dynamic range and human eye contrast ratio capability. Pathetic !
The camera is great but this video sucks ! Period.
This isn't about what you think of the movie. It's about what you think of the camera capabilities.
Callingt he film boring has nothing to do with the thread conversation. Go troll somewhere else if you don't have anything to contribute on the camera capabilities.
what are you talking about? The visuals are beautiful. You are just an idiot.
This is to show case the insane capabilities of the Mark 1D IV camera. its ISO is so high it can see more than the human eye can. and on a camera that costs less than 50,000 its a bargain (the Mark 1D costs around 5,000)
Go back to shooting videos of girls in bikinis at the beach then you talentless C**T. Clearly you have no conceptual or artistic appreciation. Do you even understand the significance of how this movie was shot ?
Looks like minimal rolling shutter effects, especially with those fast pans. My understanding is that the alias problem is less with this camera than the 7d and 5d. Not sure why. Stu Masowich (sp??) said somewhere that he used some software or filter effect to mask the artifacting.
They're already working on it. Sometime next year they're going to officially announce their EOS based, APS-C camcorder. The details are still sketchy though.
Where, o, where did you hear about that??? Hope it's true, but I follow the rumor mill closely and I have yet to hear about Canon pulling its head out of its butt to do this.
For the technical hurdles involved, check our the scarlet user forums.
It's a dream sequence about a near death experience. The Old Man is the Grim Reaper and the Girl in White represents "the light at the end of the tunnel."
Yeah the flipped shots really stand out. They must have ran out of time to re-shoot those scenes. Either way this is amazing and it definitely makes me want to buy this camera now

Ok, nice light, but the story, the shots????
It looks just like a David Lynch's bad imitation. Sorry, the story is nothing but a common place... a clichè.
(By the way, David Lynch shot an entire film with a comercial DV camera, half the price of the 1D -Sony PD150: Inland Empire).
I think there are much better examples about DSLR filmography in the web than Lafouret's videos.
