  • 1:52 OHH DAMN!!!! 0_O

  • Amazing stuff. DSLRs have come so far

  • how come the 1d is so expencive id have thought it'd be lower considering there now 7d. Also if you paying £3k+ for a video camera why not buy AF101? which is a proper video camera with large 4/3rd MOS sensor, and balancable XLRs inputs.

  • @nigel101 large sensor camcorders at this price range is new. Remember these are primarily stills cameras a lower pricrange camera won't affect the top end camera!

  • @zenmachinefilms check out canon's new c300.... i'm not sure about xlr adapters but it's pretty close to what your talking about.... vincent laforet even made a test film for it....

  • 16 people are living with envy in their hearts...

  • OMG....1D, here i come..

  • This is great, but the REAL work for this film went into location scouting. just because it was shot with only available light doesn't mean this guy didn't scour the city looking for decently lit places. Its not like this wasn't planned. Good job.

  • Great video! Please check my music video out using nothing but natural light as well with the Canon 5D mark II and Canon 7D.

  • nice!!

  • @zenmachinefilms

Because the 1D Mark IV is designed for photoshooting...

  • 1m54 happened to me the other night in bed.

  • I think the Panasonic AF100 will kill the DSLR market for filmmaking.Canon and Nikon had the chance to make a Camcorder with a large SLR sensor.Especially with millions of cinematographes screaming out for them in forums.I don't know why they didn't listen.

  • muito inspirador , fantástico! quem disse que somente equipamentos caros fazem filmes bons, e que viva o curtas bem feitos. Parabéns

  • better than the 7D? you think so?

  • @TheAmazingRoger Way better

  • This is awesome - great job! :)

  • Very nice but I liked REVERIE much more...

  • Ridiculously moody. I love it.

  • Ok, nice light, but the story, the shots????

It looks just like a David Lynch's bad imitation. Sorry, the story is nothing but a common place... a clichè.

(By the way, David Lynch shot an entire film with a comercial DV camera, half the price of the 1D -Sony PD150: Inland Empire).

I think there are much better examples about DSLR filmography in the web than Lafouret's videos.

  • @elmambo2

Which David Lynch Film? I bet those lights and generators that he paid for weren't cheap.

  • Wait...

    "Shot entirely with available light."

    Realllllly?

  • not bad for a still camera.

  • hey hollywood, please give these creators ass loads of money, and/or drugs or whatever their creative minds need as rocket film fuel and watch them fuck the whole worlds mouth.

  • f*ck, that's AWESOME!

  • I think this kids first issue, is that his skateboard is from the 80's. the video looks great though!! I got the t2i, although this looks a bit better, I still LOVE IT!!

  • Beware of Nacht St.

  • this video looks great but I think the 5d Mark II creates a more cinematic feel than this camera..? Why is that? We shot our last music video on the 5d at 3200 ISO (see our page) maybe it's the full frame of the 5d...

  • MOST AWESOME!!!

  • Canon bring out a Camcorder with a Full Frame sensor like this one or even better a full framer like the 5D Mk2.Recorded to a super codec onto a onboard Harddrive.

You'd have a winner .Give us customers a Global Shutter and there will be the perfect camera for shooting movies of any budget.

XLR inputs and uncompressed 24 bit sound would be icing on the cake.

  • @zenmachinefilms Cant agree more, i keep hoping all those photocam's will be a price breaker for better semi pro cams. I would love the have this in an xh a1 package. if they don't, the dslr's will probably take over

  • Excellent.

  • from japan27 movie playar

    一眼レフ恐るべし!

    近い将来カメラは肩にしょわなくてもハンディーで高画質が可能になるんだね。HDカメラは買わずにPD-150で我慢します(笑)

  • nice

  • nowhere near as good as reverie .... these cameras can arguable out perform 10's of thousands of dollars worth of Red camera's in low light performance, all in a compact shell .. this is truly a revolution to the film industry.

  • If this truly was shot only with available light this is really one hell of a camera, nice job Canon

  • high ISO's don't count for much of anything if the pictures can't be used because of noise and artifacting. I love canon cameras and i would like for them to start focusing more on the noise levels at high ISO's. We don't need the high mpixel count. does any1 agree wit me

  • Great job.. very exciting camera!

ow does the camera look indoors with one light on faces.... do the colors look natural? VERY VERY curious.

  • @ 0:41 sec the street is nacht.....i think that means night in german.....lol

  • IN DUTCH goddamn it! I'm sorry I just get ROYALLY pissed off when people keep confusing german with dutch..

  • @pinkfruit88 hahaha, inderdaad!

  • It's great in shooting at night I'm impressed.Thats why i dont understand why Sony and Panasonic make 1/3 inch CCD's in their P2 and XD Cams.Bigger sensors mean bigger pixels catching more light making them light sensitive.Independent filmmakers don't have the budget to have 30'000 watts of lighting and generators when you should'nt need that in the first place.

  • 1:52 he should have kissed the old guy for comic relief.

  • Very awesome video!

The 1D Mk IV looks to be an amazing camera. I also think it's insane that it has a max ISO of 102400, incredible! :D

Cameras are really becoming advanced nowadays.

  • good to see this back online again! well done!

  • When you look at the credits and see the amount of work the other crew members contributed, you know that the camera was just a small part of the overall production. Great work to all involved.

  • This isn't about what you think of the movie. It's about what you think of the camera capabilities.

Callingt he film boring has nothing to do with the thread conversation. Go troll somewhere else if you don't have anything to contribute on the camera capabilities.

  • Who set up that rule ? You idiot ? Nobody said that we werent allowed to comment freely about what we see in the vid.

  • what are you talking about? The visuals are beautiful. You are just an idiot.

This is to show case the insane capabilities of the Mark 1D IV camera. its ISO is so high it can see more than the human eye can. and on a camera that costs less than 50,000 its a bargain (the Mark 1D costs around 5,000)

So for a filmmaker this is glorious footage.

  • Go back to shooting videos of girls in bikinis at the beach then you talentless C**T. Clearly you have no conceptual or artistic appreciation. Do you even understand the significance of how this movie was shot ?

  • nice tie.

  • Great stuff, love what this camera can do..

  • Great piece. Wonderful technology but OUTSTANDING filmmaking talent.!

  • Sorry but I didn't connect.

  • looks like a david lynch film...

  • Beautiful Cinema Look! Great work by all involved!

  • love the music.

  • Is there in the camera a rolling shutter unwanted fx?

  • ridiculous. (the good kind) the technology's great, but you gotta know what to do with it- props to the filmmaker

  • They're already working on it. Sometime next year they're going to officially announce their EOS based, APS-C camcorder. The details are still sketchy though.

  • Very well done

  • who cares about the meaning! The film looks AWESOME!

  • i dont get the meaning

But canon 1D Mark IV is awesome!

  • devilcommando: "i dont get the meaning"

It's a dream sequence about a near death experience. The Old Man is the Grim Reaper and the Girl in White represents "the light at the end of the tunnel."

  • yes exactly don t understand why !!!

and if you take image out via HDSDI output you can get

HD uncompress capture via AJA HDIO card ...

almost similar from RED but much more sensible !!!

sometimes i think big companies don t ear filmakers !

  • run to the berrics nigga!

  • I always jump over road closed signs when being chased too.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah. it does look amazing. But it's also a downer that you need to many people to actually get something to look this good too.

  • so beautiful

  • Flipped shot continuity fail. Lol. Other than that amazing.

  • agree

  • If it looks that clean in low light, I can't imagine daylight.

  • Question: Why is there a "Steadicam" operator in the credits when this was supposedly shot "ENTIRELY" on a DSLR?

  • dude... the DSLR was attached to the Steadicam ...as pictured in the behind the scene shots on the directors blog

  • Comment removed

  • Well it IS shot entirely on a DSLR.... Steadicam just give more sturdier shots... :)

  • Question:

Do you know what a steadicam is?

  • This is flat out amazing.

  • Beautiful work!

  • did the editor fall asleep at 0:59?

    looks great aside from that

  • That was all available light only? WOW. Amazing.

  • Great work Stu (and friends). any knowledge of why canon wanted this off the air?

Will the behind the scenes be posted here too?

  • Very nice Stu. Pretty impressed with the quality from the Canon. How long did you spend on color correction?

  • Wow this is amazing.

  • Hey Stu this is great. What are you working on now that you're no longer with the Orphanage?
