Felice Varesi would try to time his emissions with the percussion instruments but famously had to run off stage on several occasions to avoid embarrassment. 2) I did

Having also seen photos of Fleming in her current Violetta at the ROH, one can only marvel at Netrebko's resilience, endurance and commitment to bel canto opera.

Great performance&great artists! And all those of you making stupid comments that have no logical arguments and are only intended to offend while claiming yourself to be art lovers... you should be ashamed of yourselves(that if you have anything related to common sense or conscience). There is nothing wrong with Netrebko. Her voice is beautiful, warm, she is a wonderful performer, her range is impressive and she most certainly isn't hard on the eye.Now go ahead offend me, it will prove my point!
i cannot understand why anyone would call this veluptious wonderfull woman anna is beautiful and she can sing if ya dont like her fuck off and die ya fucking banjo plucking retard
Callas was overestimated - exactly like Karajan. Here more the image becomes important than the actual skill - true to the motto: The Callas is so famous, consequently so it must be also brilliant and beyond any doubt.
Only a handful "YT-Callas-freaks" believe her voice was something special, ..... it's a cheap witticism!
She's forgotten like every singers of the past. What remind at Callas was her stage presence and the fact, that she was a Mezzo!!
If you like RAMÓN VARGAS, ANNA NETREBKO, ELINA GARANCA and LUDOVIC TÉZIER check now THE 30 TENORS in my playlist SUPER TENOR ARIAS ( including CLAUDIO SOTELO performing ARIA DEL CIRUJANO as a world première for YOU TUBE ) and tell me which one you prefer.
Reality is, these days its not just about singing anymore. Anna has very good overall musicianship. Conductors arent voice coaches nor do the seek vocal perfection. They aim to have great musicians who sing vocal lines with ease.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It is soo funny reading these idiotic experts comments here, whereas Anna Netrebko sings in the best opera houses and is being highly regarded and LOVED by the best conductors, as well as being admired by public. It is truly amazing how a few losers here try to make it sound like Anna has problems while Anna is doing fabulously well, she DEFINITELY WILL REMAIN as one of the greatest voices in history and people who used to bash her would still be some shitty unknown losers from you tube.
Anna is very good and beautiful in every way in this performance, the rest did a pretty good job too; so I think that all the negativity expressed here is really out of place, really not deserved at all.
Why these people are bashing her? They are underachievers, who cannot deal with envy and jealousy. Anna is an amassing soprano and a gorgeous woman! She is still young and she gets better in her acting singing and everything! Anna was named operas leading lady in a March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas.
Anna Netrebko is a WORLD CLASS soprano she has a unique, huge voice with an incredible silver sound, she sings beautifully with a lovely free and easy top note. She sings at all major opera houses (65 times at MET alone) and has earned an incredible SUCSESS. Anna was awarded the Classical Brit award 2 years in a row, for Traviata and one for her Russian album. In USA she was nominated the musician of the year award (2009) and I feel lucky to exist in her time. So I think YOU should shut up.
aklev: You are absolutely right. We must give credit where credit is due. I am only sorry she is not an Anglo talent but at least she had the sense to settle in Vienna.
Who pays you to post your Netrebko hate blogs? Anna is booked to sing at Covent Garden during summer 2010. They only take the very top talent. Go gack to your dungeon and listen to crappy old recordings of Callas. You deserve it.
This number was written for the soprano and tenor in the opening act of Traviata. This performance was an encore for the four singers, so everyone had to sing somehow: Elina, a mezzo, did part of the soprano line, and the baritone did part of the tenor's. It's all for fun!
Elina Garanca is a lyric mezzo that has the high notes of most sopranos. The final note here is a high Bflat; she can go higher. I think she has a high C.
Queen of the Night, really? That's a nice surprise, I know she recorded some soprano arias but I didn't expect THAT one. She is a terrific singer, and perhaps I should not be surprised.
no she wasn't the one singing qotn on the mozart album. Elina is a mezzo, it's not a bad thing that she keeps it this way cos her voice sounds so much more beautiful than most soprano voices!
I have a doubt about Netrebko's way to sing this aria. Is her style to make a pause -and take a breath- or is a problem of her fiato? (1:34; 1:39) Because the most of sopranos dont do that.
I say it is her fiato. Whatever, she is still gorgeus =D
Feee...
Elina Garanca will be performing at the christmas matinée december 25th with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, watch it live at monteverdi %dot% tv slash rco!
What is the name of the song that Netrebko sang in the movie "Moonstruck?" The one that was playing when Cher was walking back home from Ronnie's house after a night at the Opera.
The duet being sung during that scene from Moonstruck was O soave fanciulla from La Boheme. It was sung in the film by Renata Tebaldi and Carlo Bergonzi.
Brava!

I know audiences love it, but every opera company does it this way for fundraisers and patron dinners, and it has become so hackneyed I can't stand it. The singers stand around looking at each other with no idea of how to present it out of context, so it becomes vapid and dull, and there a hundred better drinking songs out there for people to clap to if they want.
FloriaTosca85 2 years ago
mica Callas?
Certainly not! She's only a mediocre Mezzo and cannot hold the candle to AN.

Striker
the problem is, you have NO NOTION and nobody can talk with you about opera. We can't help you because we can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
But you reach the point of no return and, it's really true, you're the lowest of the low, believe me!
Your idiocy disgraces every Callas fan.
So ELISABETTA writes:
STRIKER shut the hell up and speak for yourself. And please spare us your disgusting language! Either be polite .....or shut up.
All Callas fans think so!

Reality is, these days its not just about singing anymore. Anna has very good overall musicianship. Conductors arent voice coaches nor do the seek vocal perfection. They aim to have great musicians who sing vocal lines with ease.

Although she's a mezzo, Elina Garanca would make a great Violetta.
rayangreene 2 years ago
Why these people are bashing her? They are underachievers, who cannot deal with envy and jealousy. Anna is an amassing soprano and a gorgeous woman! She is still young and she gets better in her acting singing and everything! Anna was named operas leading lady in a March 27th of 2009 story in the Times (UK) titled The 20 Best Classical Divas.
AND IT IS TIME FOR NETREBKO HATERS TO SHUT UP!
aklev77 2 years ago
It's time for you to shut up! She is ridiculous. Garanca is good, but netrebko is crap
zafireh 2 years ago
Anna Netrebko is a WORLD CLASS soprano she has a unique, huge voice with an incredible silver sound, she sings beautifully with a lovely free and easy top note. She sings at all major opera houses (65 times at MET alone) and has earned an incredible SUCSESS. Anna was awarded the Classical Brit award 2 years in a row, for Traviata and one for her Russian album. In USA she was nominated the musician of the year award (2009) and I feel lucky to exist in her time. So I think YOU should shut up.
aklev77 2 years ago
aklev: You are absolutely right. We must give credit where credit is due. I am only sorry she is not an Anglo talent but at least she had the sense to settle in Vienna.

filaredo 2 years ago
HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA
zafireh 2 years ago
filaredo 2 years ago

Who pays you to post your Netrebko hate blogs? Anna is booked to sing at Covent Garden during summer 2010. They only take the very top talent. Go gack to your dungeon and listen to crappy old recordings of Callas. You deserve it.

Did or did not Elïna switch into sopranoe here? Please help!
Y2H 2 years ago
This number was written for the soprano and tenor in the opening act of Traviata. This performance was an encore for the four singers, so everyone had to sing somehow: Elina, a mezzo, did part of the soprano line, and the baritone did part of the tenor's. It's all for fun!
danbar73 2 years ago 2
Elina Garanca is a lyric mezzo that has the high notes of most sopranos. The final note here is a high Bflat; she can go higher. I think she has a high C.
danbar73 2 years ago
garanca can sing queen of the night. it's pretty good. i heard it from the mozart album.
gltxiv 2 years ago
Queen of the Night, really? That's a nice surprise, I know she recorded some soprano arias but I didn't expect THAT one. She is a terrific singer, and perhaps I should not be surprised.
danbar73 2 years ago
no she wasn't the one singing qotn on the mozart album. Elina is a mezzo, it's not a bad thing that she keeps it this way cos her voice sounds so much more beautiful than most soprano voices!
luvxl 2 years ago
She has a powerful rich high D flat :) I am proud for her and her wide lyric voice.

psych006 2 years ago
I have a doubt about Netrebko's way to sing this aria. Is her style to make a pause -and take a breath- or is a problem of her fiato? (1:34; 1:39) Because the most of sopranos dont do that.
I say it is her fiato. Whatever, she is still gorgeus =D

What is the name of the song that Netrebko sang in the movie "Moonstruck?" The one that was playing when Cher was walking back home from Ronnie's house after a night at the Opera.
sparkleplenty101 3 years ago
The duet being sung during that scene from Moonstruck was O soave fanciulla from La Boheme. It was sung in the film by Renata Tebaldi and Carlo Bergonzi.
