  • Wow. I've never seen a newer video of a Schwimmwagen actually in the water!

  • Ahh the 166 is wicked I got to ride in one about 15 minutes or less and it was awesome.

  • I bet that one could make the body as well as the other components out of fiberglass, kevlar or carbon fiber.

  • Yea you probably could. Never thought of it.

  • I worked for Ravon Street Rods here in Billings, Montana for three years and I made a few molds off of car bodies and sub-components some times as well as a lot of cars from those molds over the years that I worked there. I bet you could make a lot of the body parts and sub-assembly parts the same way and utilize beetle steering and drive train systems for the rest. The only real fabrication challange would be the propeller and it's drive system. Reproduction Schwimmwagons market anyone?

  • Yea! If you make one. I will try to scrounge up enough to get one.

  • CorZr1 nobody is getting rid of them

Elephatintheroom01 because why have a schwimmer we have gunships nows

KanzlerM because if the wheels dont turn as easy it still has ground under it

totenkopf your name means DeathsHead why would you laugh it swims

  • ok guys that Schwimmwagen was produced between 1941 to 1944 only the german army aka the SS could get them but they was also handed out for the regular germany military during the time there were a total of 15,584 Type 166 Schwimmwagen cars were produced; 14,276 at Fallersleben and 1,308 by Porsche. Only 133 are known to remain today, and only 13 have survived without restoration work. unfortunately i dont have one but i have rode in one the backseat is very cramped but it is fun

  • where can i buy one

  • 60 years ago you would have been given one for a modest fee.

  • Why dont they make these nowadays?

  • because every one is stupid

  • Why didn't the propellor go down into the water?

  • not deep enough water

  • id laugh if the water was deep

  • why? it's a swimmwage :) it swims :p
