That was my father's song. There was only two vinyl records that he played when I was growing up and that was "night train" and "bugaloo down Broadway". He was into a lot of old jazz, accept for those 2 R&B singles. My father would say he could feel it down in his bones and so could I for that matter.
i loved that dance I was 10 when this song came out and my mom good dance and all of us would shing a ling and boogaloo and mom seen James Brown in concert and she did the James Brown better than any other mom in our hood lmao good times
Isn't this gem (and Cliff Nobles 'The Horse' ) from Philly's own Jesse James?
God bless you Jesse, wherever you are.
They just don't make music like this anymore. Unlike the musical 'junk food for juveniles' of today, back then the music really had substance and soul...not just fake groove of today's pop.
I wish i could remember my classmate's name in my homeroom@ Booker t in new orleans when this song was out. she boogalooed into class everyday! LOL! and she could dance her ass off! I'll never forget the look on my homeroom teacher's face the first time. priceless. so much fun back then. a great song. thanks for bringing back a great memory.
Going back to 60's the Stax movement pretty much was making hit after hit. They decided to try and have a One Hit Wonder like Motown had done. The song was the Fantastic Johnny C's Boogaloo Down Broadway. The song pretty much never got into the top 10 or even 5. It always was in the middle. The song was remade by Sam and Dave. The song was written by Issac Hayes and David Porter. They are my favorite songwriting team next to Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe. Love this song. Haven't heard it in ages.
Now this is what you party to!! All these sorry young "so called" pop music kids out nowadays are just wannabees, no idea as to what real music is. This is how we used to party back in the 60's and 70's. Not a curse word mentioned, no guns or killing. Just good, clean fun and a whole lot of moving. It's sad that today's genre of music has gone straight to hell!!!!
Another great song from my youth years. Wow...did we boogaloo too!
