  • Can you make it show the clock while not in use? thanks

  • @MrTmd747 I'm afraid not.

  • @MrTmd747 i wish it could, then would've been a nice digital clock too :D

  • what watt is it??

  • @TheMebcam 30 watt

  • Peace of shit dock broke within 3 weeks, its basic, shit radio, teach me for buying online without seeing one first.

Tip, go to a big elec shop and pick one then buy online.

  • @siliconglenn I've had mine for over two years and had no problems. Any product that you buy can break soon after buying it, there's always going to be a small percentage of a certain product that fails. But I'd still recommend this dock to anyone.

  • Whats better you think this or the Gear4 HouseParty Rise

  • @ThekraphiixWay The HouseParty 4 definitely. The Rise only has 2 x 3 Watt speakers, the HouseParty 4 has a total of 30 Watt.

  • i cant get my smartlink to work for my ipod touch do you have any advice as when we put alarms on the ipod or anything it doesnt wok and we have got both the smartlinks from the app store so we dont know what else to do,

    hope you can help??

  • @missprettypie1 Are you using the older HouseParty 4 or the newer model that is App Enhanced? i have the older model and this won't work with the Smartlink App, the App is only compatible with the new speaker dock model.

  • @MacAdvisorUK thank you so much i think we have it working now and i think i do have the old model. is the new one the evo one?? cos i have the other one, but now i know this it works just as i want it to so thanks again

  • @missprettypie1 Yeah the new model is the Evo one.

  • So glad I watched this video, it saved me a headache of a xmas, was going to send it back untill the AIRPLANE mode was explained for my iphone 4. many thanks.

  • Someone help me, bloody remote doesn't work! Only just got it ! :@

  • @billiethekydd Have you checked the battery? If it still doesn't work then it's probably under warranty and they could send you a replacement.

  • By the way, I'm sorry for diverting attention from your excellent review of a different product, above.

  • You have youthful hands and a cool northern voice. It's a great change from all the south-east accents we hear. Very clear and helpful description. For me though it's the wrong model!

I bought a Gear4 HouseParty Blade recently. My new iPod Touch is supposed to dock on the top of the set. I've done that today but there's no sound coming from the speakers. (The iPod itself is audible.)

I wonder if I'm using the wrong dock adapter - there's three others.

Care to comment, Mac Advisor UK?

  • @Bouncybon Hi, try the other dock adapters first and see which one best fits your device. If it doesn't work with any of them then try it without a dock adapter to see if the sound plays through the speakers. Which generation of iPod Touch do you have?

  • @MacAdvisorUK I have no idea! I've looked at all the packaging but there's nothing to state which generation it is. It was a gift from friends this summer, so I guess it's a very recent model.

OK I'll try what you suggest. Thanks....

  • @MacAdvisorUK I've now tried the iPod in the dock without an adapter and guess what? A message comes up on the iPod: "This accessory is not supported by iPod Touch"

So that's it. What a pain. £40 wasted at Tesco.

I must remember not to shop for this kind of product instore. Much better to go online and study products before making a decision.

So I've just ordered this new product from Amazon:

Klipsch iGroove HG iPod Speaker System. More expensive but I just have to cut my losses. Grrrr....!

  • @Bouncybon I used to get the same message with my iPhone 4, but if I dismissed the message it would work fine. This was due to the fact that the dock didn't initially recognise it as an iDevice as the iPhone was released well after the dock. Does the iPod work if you dismiss the message and try playing it? Is it a current gen iPod or a slightly older model?

  • @MacAdvisorUK I feel such a total berk. You're right, of course. By dismissing the message the iPod works fine. Sorry to have wasted your time. Thank-you very much.

  • @Bouncybon You're welcome, glad it finally worked.

  • See to be honest you sound like a right knob

  • @ro4sco1000 and you're not for posting this comment?!

  • @ro4sco1000 'MacAdvisor UK' is a massive Apple Mac expert and a great YouTube specialist teacher. If you're too much of a dickhead to realize this, spare us the meaningless comments.

  • Mac Advisor please can you tell me, does the speaker dock support the Ipod 2nd generation?

  • @oNortz I'm afraid not

  • @oNortz The House party 5 is compatible with the ipod touch 2g, get it at asda for 20 or 30 quid

  • Quick question, is it possible to plug it into my laptop using my laptop's headphone socket, even if it means buying a wire separately, as I’m looking for a dock for both my iPod and laptop.

  • @ViixAMV Hi, it should be okay, the dock has an auxiliary out put for non ipod mp3 players to connect, so if you can find the right cable I'm sure you could connect a laptop up to it.

  • Great review!

  • C'est vraiment un bon produit !

  • i spent £40.00 but it was worth it thanks for rewing it. i bought it its so amazing im looking for good bass songs for it and i usually use it at volume 40 at eq bass

    thank you

  • i have 2 problems with this, this doesn't charge my iPod Nano 4th Gen or my iTouch 2nd Gen, can someone please tell me why and my remote doesnt work for some silly reason :s

  • Is volume 16 the loudest???

  • @8146babe No, 40 is the loudest.

  • @MacAdvisorUK Ooh right okay thankyou!

  • grrrrr just ordered this and it looks a lot bigger than I thought, thought it would be slim :( dammmmmn. Still looks good though! Thanks for the review!

  • thanks for the review. Am thinking if getting this. Pitty the Houseparty 5 doesn't have an FM radio otherwise would have got it.

  • hey is it compatible with ipod touch 4g(charge and play it)??

  • @rhyville1 Hi, yes it will charge and play the iPod Touch 4G according to Gear 4. It should act the same way as the iPhone 4 where it says it doesn't recognise the device and won't auto initiate airplane mode. Should work fine though.

  • Cool speaker dock. No plans to buy one right now, but we may this summer.

Thanks for a good review! Thumbs Up!

    Tim

  • I Cant It Very Well But You Recorded This On May 20th My Birthday Or May 28th Im Not Sure
