Hi, I realise that but the same supercharger would easily provide enough flow to 'charge the B engine. My BMW Cooper S had 198 bhp with the same supercharger. The B series engine is the same layout as the A with a 5 port head, presumably the inlet ports are just a bit larger and a bit further apart. Thanks, think I'll look into it, I haven't currently got a B but have had Midgets and B's in the past. I am considering supercharging a B rather than going for a more expensive TR6 or similar!
Hi, I've been looking into this too. The Moss kits are really pricey so I checked for kits for mini's and they can be had for around £1200 which obviously would fit a midget but not a B. With maybe an adaptor plate I would think it'd fit the B?
I would imagine a large amount of work would be in order to get a kit intended for the A-series motor to fit up properly onto your B-series motor. You may also want to consider the time you will spend tuning, since the largest A-series motor was only 1275cc, whilst the B-series motor in your B is 1800cc.
That would be great to test your '73 super charged, against the '7l. I have a '71 roadster that I am restoring, the '73 that I have is a GT. Of course the '71 should be faster, if they were both stock, than the '73, as it has higher compression pistons.
I have a '73 too and have thought about the super charger. The price keeps going up, nearly 4K now. Do you find it a great improvement and would you recommend it?
The difference is like night and day. If you plan on keeping your B for a long time, I would recommend it without question. My brother has a 71 B with a rebuilt engine that has been mildly warmed over. I am planning on filming a street-safe acceleration comparison between the two cars to illustrate the difference.
Can't wait to get mine back on the road, are they halogen lights you use? and have you got a modern cd player fitted in? I've owned a couple but have never got one on the road haha, sorry about the questions
Believe it or not, the passenger headlight is an original Lucas sealed beam, so it is quite possible it is original to the car. I am on the lookout for a driver's Lucas sealed beam, since the light pattern is slightly different than on modern sealed beams.
The radio is an original AM/FM British Leyland. I will add a modern radio soon, but I will be a concealed model (trunk or glove box). If you have any questions about getting your car back on the road, I would be happy to give any help.
Just realised it's the same 'charger as yours anyway, eaton M45!
Really nice MG by the way, sounds fantastic and seems to go really well!
