  • I'm a blues and bruins fan, gawd I'm not sure who i will Cher for this year when they're in Stanley cup...

  • epic goal

  • It's funny how whenever someone from Down East ( Quebec - the only province who stands up FOR UNIONS ) never appreciates what MARIO did for this country. 87' GWG. 2002 - Puck between the legs fake shot to Kariya - and Crosby in 2010. I wonder what it is? Could it be that faggot suit wearing Ruins' fan who beat VANCOUVER in the Cup? Let's see them try their fate @ DETROIT next time... A REAL TEAM without " rigged " games like the 4 straight penalties in Game 5...

  • It's funny how I can name 6 players on St. Louis... God, I wish Lemieux got to play against loser teams like this...

Chris Fucking BORDELEAU was their leading cocksucking scorer with 53PTS in 78 GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what was tht goalie doing

  • Lets go B's!

  • @Bongsolo123 you mean blues, right? haha jk Go Blues!!

  • He was 1 of the best players so thats what made it special

  • I just find it ridiculous that people cite the dive when he jumps a full second or so after the puck hits the twine.

  • did he fall or jump haha

  • @jaqua524 he was tripped

  • I BELIVE I CANT FLY!

  • your all right the fact that the goal is scored before hes in the air makes perfect sense that its just another goal but the fact that its bobby orr and that the goal is so iconic makes it one of the greatest goals ever. its not the fanciest goals but it did win the cup and thats all that matters in the game of hockey which is why he is one of the greatest if not the greatest hockey player there was.

  • Awesome scene -- one of the best hockey has ever had to offer. And, as an old goalie, I'm thankful that Glenn Hall is not only remembered for this moment.

  • So what if Bobby didn't do 3 spins and go between his legs before slapping the puck in? IT WON A STANLEY CUP. It is one of the most iconic image of the NHL (along with messier shaking the sup after his 1st finals win) and no one with decent knowledge on hockey can dispute that.

  • Bobby orr didn't fly or even jump, watch #4 from St Louis (Noel Picard) lift Bobby's foot up with his stick and send him airborne.

  • i don't think i hate any team more than the boston bruins, but this has to be best hockey moment of all time.

  • I believe I can fly :D

  • ya go bruins!

  • Bobby Orr Scorse 1970 Stanley Cup

  • My dad was at this game with my grandparents. I hope I get to be at a game where the stanley cup is won, one day. Fucking Amazing!!! Heres to hoping my blackhawks can pull it off and I have $1000 to spare, to get the ticket off stub hub.

  • what if bobby didnt fly? where would he be in the history books?

  • @NIGHTxCHILL He'd still be everywhere in the books that he's in today; because he didn't actually fly.

  • being from stlouis, this goal is hard to watch, but really, wat a goal!

  • I saw an interview with Derek Sanderson and Sandy said he didn't hesitate to give it back to Orr after Orr intercepted the puck on the left wing boards because the give and go was Bobby's favorite play.

  • i dont want anyone to get mad but i hear a lot of people say that he scored in the air but is u look at 0:09 the pucks out of the net before he's in the air

  • sorry 0:07

  • @hawksdefence12 he leaped after the goal

  • 39 years ago today I will never ever forget that day THANK YOU number four THANK YOU

  • Nice goal ,Orr's one of the best defence men in nhl history

  • it won the cup.. that's about it.. other than that this goal should not be considered among some of the great goals that are actually good. people score one-timers all the time.. nothing special... he fell well after the puck hit the back of the net.

  • dude, ever watch real hockey??? not the New NHL?

  • Yup.

Even though that has nothing to do with anything I said... do you have a point you're trying to make?

  • uhhh......no........lol. I was just saying lol

  • @ccmpro1234 u silly boy...dicks are for chicks

  • This goal is EPIC - not only because of the fact that it won the cup but ALSO because of who scored it.

    And he didnt "fall" skippy.........

  • regardless, it played no factor in him scoring, and is completely irrelevant.

  • Oh so now things are supposed to be "relevant"

    Ok.........

So much for the "spirit of the game"

  • Listen to how people describe how amazing they think this goal is. They always make a big mention out of him being airborne, as if he shot the puck while completely parallel to the ice. No, him being airborne has nothing to do with the puck going in the net. The credit of this goal should be the great pass from behind the net. Not a brainless tap-in goal that my 8 year old cousin can do.

  • LOL right Skippy.

"listen to how people describe this goal" Up until now there were 4 comments on this page and NONE of them mentioned anything about him being airborne.

This man MADE hockey, he revolutionized the game and many see this as the pinnacle of a GREAT career - its a moment of HOCKEY HISTORY.

But then again I dont expect someone who uses their 8 year old cousin as an example to understand that.

Somehow I doubt youve ever donned a pair of blades.

  • You're way off base here. I never said he was a bad player. I'm saying the goal is very overrated, which in fact it is. Stay with me here, it's not a hard concept to grasp. And the fact that I can use my 8 year old cousin only proves my point that it's a goal that ANYBODY could make.

    And "Skippy?" Really?

  • Yeah "Skippy" is what I call my nephews when theyre obviously making an ass out of themselves. ;-)

Tell ya what - google "Greatest moments in Hockey History" and I would be 9 times out of 10 this goal will come up and NOTHING about him becoming airborne. It would appear that youre the only one who cant appreciate the history behind it and what the man himself made to the game.

Apparently YOURE the only one who believes it "overrated"

  • omg ignorance.

once again, what he brought to the game has nothing to do with this goal in particular. and there are many who believe it's overrated. you're the only one making an ass out of himself here.

  • Its the HISTORY Dumbass - youre the one whos obviously missing the point.

The bottom line is IT WON THE STANLEY CUP asshat and if you cant appreciate that AND the man holding the stick then I am only left with one conclusion - youre an ankle skater/wannabe who spent most of his time riding the pine and dreaming of stuff like this. Ive probably been around hockey longer than youve been alive and youre the FIRST person Ive ever heard say anything along these lines. Looks like its a fail again

  • You must have never watched any interviews regarding this goal. 8/10 people mentioned him being airborne as the reason this goal was so amazing.

Now if you go back to my original comment...

"it won the cup.. that's about it.. other than that this goal should not be considered among some of the great goals that are actually good. people score one-timers all the time.. nothing special... he fell well after the puck hit the back of the net."

I definitely mentioned the fact that it won the cup.

  • hahaha this will be an on going battle wont it? lol

  • @ccmpro1234 Dude, he's a Wings fan, breaking your balls. Nuff said.

  • Classic give and go with Sanderson, Orr was the BEST at it! Check out his highlight reel he scored many times like this in his career.

  • @bishoppx He didn't fall though, he clearly jumps in celebration, what makes this highlight so special is A) It won the cup, B) Bobby Orr was the greatest Defensemen of all time and C) his sheer exuberance. It is an Iconic moment in NHL history, a spectacular goal.

  • @PM531 I know he jumped, that was my point. And it was game 4 of a series Boston was leading 3 games to 0 at this time. St. Louis had no chance of coming back in this series. I'm not trying to say that this goal shouldn't have any meaning, I'm just saying that there's far too many amazing goals out there for something as simple as this to be among the top.

  • @bishoppx Yeah, I would call it an iconic goal not one of the greatest goals ever.

  • @bishoppx do you have any idea what a good goal looks like it is not a great goal just because he is airborne and plus he was way better then wayne gretzky i dont care what the record books say i dont care what people say bobby orr is the best player that ever stepped on the ice of any arena and the best player that ever lived and yes it won the cup that is a big deal last time i checked that is what they play for every year isnt it god im a girl and i think i know more bout hockey then you do!!

  • @Roxanne898989 first off, use punctuation. second, they were up 3-0 in the series. had he not scored, or had they even lost the game it wouldn't have been that big of a deal.

  • @bishoppx first i will use punctuation if i fucking please second who fucking cares if it was 3-0 in the series they won it was a great goal he was airborne they won the cup bobby orr is now the best player that ever were to play so yeah

  • @bishoppx Who the hell said it was a "pretty" goal. It's one of the most memorable goals in the history of hockey. Doesn't matter how technically amazing the actual goal is.

Was Paul Henderson's goal to clinch the 72 Summit Series a beauty? No it was was even less "pretty" than Orr's. It was a rebound and Henderson buried it. Nothing technically marvelous there. So I guess that's no big deal.

So I ask...what is YOUR point? Or do you not have one and you're just trying to start shit?

  • There are two kinds of great goals, and they can both be summed up in two words: head and heart. While this isn't a great goal in the head, this is a great goal in the heart. The former is all about how well executed the goal is, and for that, you said yourself, it's nothing special. A great goal in the head is much like his midair shot. However, the latter is about the situation, the reaction, the results, it goes beyond just the moment the goal is scored.

  • Again, your post, as well as a few others, proves why this is a great goal in the heart. Logically, it's nothing but a well timed shot. Emotionally, this is one of the greatest goal ever. Without considering a subjective definition of the word "great," you proclaimed this goal as "not great." This isn't a big deal, but now when people approach you with this subjective view, you refuse to so much as consider it. That is a big deal.

  • Even though I know what you meant, I have to frown on you for poor wording and poor emotional consideration. Try being more careful from now on, alright?

  • @bishoppx ya, it won the cup in overtime. u wouldnt be happy about getting the game winning goal that won the stanley cup?

  • @10and7eagles i feel like you missed everything anyone commented about this, and you're bringing up an old topic. that's a double fail.

  • @bishoppx youse trollin

  • what a goal!!

  • BOBBY ORR!!!!
