Depending on how small they break the stone up it can still be painful to pass. Also if they put a stent in that you have to leave in for days, pieces of the stone will end up passing in-between your ureter and the stent which can be painful. I have had 11 surgeries in 3 years to get kidney stones the size of golf balls out.

The use of laser and endoscopy surgery (scope) has averted the need for a large surgical incision to removed large kidney stones.

I had this done last month...it felt like I was peeing razor blades for about 2 days...the stent removal was the worst part
