You can write protest songs and make videos, maybe they make you feel better. Nothing can ever return the stolen innocence that thousands of young people lost.

Very good, but don't forget that it takes two to have a war. Try to include footage of both sides in your next one. Otherwise, it's not an anti war film you're making, but propaganda for one side. I liked gun before I was drafted by the German Army, but after exactly only 4 weeks of being a victim of conscription, I suffered from a backache because of mental reasons because the entire military bullshit really pissed me off, REALY REALLY REALLY PISSED ME OFF!! Very good, but don't forget that it takes two to have a war. Try to include footage of both sides in your next one. Otherwise, it's not an anti war film you're making, but propaganda for one side. That solves nothing and only increases the likelihood of more war. To end war, both sides, all sides, all peoples must put down their swords. Not just America.

War hasn't really preserved our freedoms. War freed us from the Brits, but it was Americans writing our Constitution & forming the first ever representative democracy nation that gave us said freedoms & preserved them (though, they aren't as great as they were 35 years ago). If we didn't have a powerful army, it is possible we would have had to fight for it; but we didn't have to. WWII was only partially for our freedom as Hitler was on his last leg and couldn't have beat us here. Japan only.

It isn't true that everyone realizes truth only in hindsight. During Vietnam there were voices calling out the truth early on. They were ignored and vilified as dead beats, brats, hippies, communists, and pinkos. Those sort of labels are always applied to patriotic Americans exercising their rights and attempting to hold our democratically elected leaders accountable, which is what is needed for a representative Democracy to survive. The same has been true over Iraq. Many knew, & were vilified.

There are no babyboomers unscarred by the war in Vietnam, whether soldiers or not, as everyone was related to, friends with, or neighbors of someone who served, and we were torn apart as a nation over it just as our generation was reaching adulthood. To this day, reminders make me cry over the losses then, and over the distrust of our own leaders we've had to live with since. Our children do not relate, because they've not had a draft yet.

Of course they will. Hell, we're already looking at ourselves in hindsight for only a few years ago. But just like Vietnam, we can tell when something bad is starting. We saw what happened to the french and assumed we could do better because were America (fuck yeah). We saw how well we did against Iraq in 91 and assumed we could just replace their entire governmental system without repercussion. Did Saddam need to die? Yeah and so does Kim but we haven't invaded NK yet we know they have WMD's.

This is a nice way to campaign for peace towards dumb people... I mean, peace is great, yes, by all means, I support it. When it comes down to it, almost all of the wars we've been in are for oil. Our ENTIRE economy relies on it. If you're going to disagree with that, don't even bother, because you're wrong.
