  • I'm into landscape and nature photography ,i have Nikon 16-35mm, do u think getting 11-16mm is a good idea , what other lenses with excellent IQ u could recommend to me ..thanks

  • @EgamiPhotography 16-35mm is plenty good for landscape, you dont need another wide angle lens.

  • Why not the 11-16 for landscape? What makes it worse for that than the other for that purpose? If it´s just as sharp and wide? AND you can use it for wide angle low light too??

  • Good review.,,, I chose on T116 over T124....

  • hi mate, that was very helpful thanks alot..but still confused which 1 should i buy ...i like to do night photography like outdoor ones on streets and cityscapes and star trails and stuff.. sope wot do u reckon? plz would like to know it from you as you have them both.

  • @aron740 11-16mm is best for low light

  • @QQQQcon

thanks mate have ordered 1 on ebay .

  • what's the matter with your right leg ? :D

  • @RicaMOfficial habit, almost always starts happening when I sit down.

  • @QQQQcon I'm just kidding bro :)

  • why buy 2 different lenses for 2 different puroposes? where I live the difference in price is 50€ so thats not the reason. And from your reviews I can see that they are both as equaly sharp when stoped down. Why not just buy the 11-16(which is 16-24mm in FF) and have a fast allround ultra wide lens. I really dont see the point in buying the 12-24mm just becouse it has a longer reach, especialy when alot of people have kit lenses that are quite sharp at 24mm at f8-11..or did i miss sometihng?

  • very helpful, thanks dude

  • what would you say would be best for shooting video on a green screen? i wanted to get the 11-16 but saw a review from dslr noob and he mentions and shows a little distortion when at 11 mm i have a small garage(where i green screen) and my 18-55 even at 18 isn't wide enough. is the 11-16 for me?

  • @GhettoPunktual distortion is a lot better with the 11-16mm

  • which of the two would be the better choice if say i was using it for available light landscape shooting??

would the 11-16 be a good choice for landscape as well?

    thanks!!!

  • @justinlow1990 if you use a tripod I would still probably go for the 12-24mm but that is just me. If not the 11-16mm is a good choice

  • Which one of these has the most chromatic aberration? Or maybe rather, which one of these do you have to do the most work on afterwords? (I'm shooting raw)

  • @TheOats 11-16mm will have the best performance.

  • QQQQcon which of the 2 lenses is sharper at f22? I would want everything from immediate foreground to the back in focus. Did you try the new tokina 12-24mm with THE build in motor het?

  • @4Patat probably the 12-24mm but doubt it is a big difference

  • Great review. Thanks

  • tnx man, ill buy the tokina 11-16 f2.8..very well said bro

  • @UnderLineFilms The latest version of the 12 24 has got a motor inside the lens and will do autofocus on a body such as the d3100. If you get the older version or the 11 16, you may also use manual focus, which is not hard at all, since the dof is very large in this focal range.

  • your such a nice kid Conner.

  • @BadZav thanks, i try

  • Comment removed

  • can i use tokina 11-16 on d3100 using manual focus....

  • @latemfreak yes

  • @UnderLineFilms the tokina 12-24mm version 2 will work but the tokina 11-16mm and version 1 of 12-24mm wont.

  • would you say that if you were confident enough in the ISO capabilities of the body you were using a 12-24 f4 on that you could achieve near the low light performance of the 11-16 f2.8 , within the same range?

  • @sumitino the 11-16mm will always have a one stop advantage no matter what camera you use it on. For most lighting conditions the 12-24mm is fine, even low light.

  • Thank you. Please continue to produce informative videos.

  • @S8OR yes I do, the range of the 12-24mm is much better for landscape photography

  • Gj, but get a mic :)

  • Your presentation and information is totally awesome, but it's a bit difficult to hear at times. It's also a little hard to see when visually presenting the product. Just a little more light would be great. Thanks though for the information and presentation. I have been thinking about getting a Tokina lens. And after watching a few of your videos I have no more doubt about getting one after a live demonstration.

    Thanks again

  • and one more thing I am an emerging photographer in the philippines and I would love to see your insights about my wok and your comment would be appreciated. I'm really on a very tight budget when it comes to equipment. I live by the day but photography is a passion I wouldn't give up for anything. Thanks dude!

  • thanks for replying! nice vids very helpful!!! i have an additional question. Why do I always have to crop my pics when printing 8X10, it's pretty annoying cause I love to compose my photos and print them as they appear? I'm using CS4. Could the image size in menu field would help? And one software best to use to make a presentation I find imovie pretty bad even if i chose HD? thanks dude!

  • @benedictsalvacion because your camera sensor is 2 x 3 format not a 4 x 5 format, meaning that you have to print 8 x 12 in order to avoid cropping.

  • 12-24mm is best for portrait as well isn't?

  • @benedictsalvacion yes, better than the 11-16mm

  • GOOD JOB!!!

  • Thanks for thie review. I have a Tokina 12-24 and I use it with my nikon D7000 and it creates a really great shots. But when I saw this Tokina 11-16 wiht much higher aperture i started thinking to sell my 12-24 and get this 11-16. But nowafter watching your review i decided to just keep my 12-24 and buy 16-11. Thanks :)

  • hi there i have a canon 500d with the standard 18-55. and then a 70-200 4l.

and i wanna have a new wide angle what would you pick?

  • Thanks, I'm interested in lens with manual aperture rings. Yes they are even more interesting to me if they include both Chip and AF modes but those applications are not as important as being able to control my aperture manually. Might you mention this in one of your vids or direct me to a site that offers listings or additional information, concerning manufactures and available models. They will be used mainly on D40X & D90 bodies. Thanks again!

  • Hi there,

Have you ever used Tokina 16-50 f2.8. If yes what is your opinion on it?

  • @Vtold1978 I am afraid not

  • does these tokina lenses AF on my d3100 ?? help !! :)

  • @ninjaboyteen only the tokina 12-24mm version 2 can

  • @QQQQcon but i can manual focus on it right ?? (11-16 )

  • @ninjaboyteen sure can

  • @QQQQcon nice video! can you please make a review in tokina 16-28mm f2.8 for nikon d700. ty!

  • hi there! i really like how the 11-16mm and the 14-24mm are the same f/2.8. can u make a video or can u just answer which one is better? thank you in advance!

  • Good review. I want to take up more landscape photography so im searching for a lens. I'm trying to decide between the tokina 11-16, tokina 12-24, and sigma 10-20 f3.5. This video is really helping me lean towards the tokina 12-24. I like the fact that it has a more versatile zoom range, but the f4 bugs me especially when i see the tokina 11-16 f2.8 right next to it.

  • @ithree6mafia Dude I know a bunch of people who shoot exclusivly at night..their is such a thing of "low light photography" just cuz your view is different doesn't mean others see it that way..

  • "if your into low light photography" that doesnt really make sense. you cant be into it, you get the lens if your in low light situations or if want a creamy blown out background. good review though.

  • @ithree6mafia what do you call night photography?

Low light photography is pretty much when you are using the lowest ISO and longer exposures

  • 14mm canon prime is good if you want EXTRA quality

  • Great video man. I am very interested in this lens but i cant decide which one to get, either this or the Canon 16-35mm f2.8, I have a crop frame cam the T1i. Is the Tokina good for portrait?

  • first thanks for your very usefull reviews.. second How do we know that lens is full area focus at F8 ?? for the tokina 11-16 ? why isnt it f10 or 5,6? and how we can know this thing about any other lens.. thanks

  • @QQQQcon Congratulations, you really managed to find the most important difference between these two lenses. :-)

I own both, and for landscape, I always use the 12-24mm, which is much more versatile.

The 11-16mm on the other hand, with its huge depth of field even at f/2.8 and the low minimum speed it requires for hand held shots is really good for hand held night photo.

  • HI, I'm a new photo enthusiast and have been following your reviews. Just some clarification comparing your review with the Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 lens. Based on both reviews of 12-24 f4 and 11-16 f2.8, the images are tack sharp at f8 on both. Why then we have to by a 12-24 when the 11-16 can also the job with an advantage of good low light capability? I have a stiff budget, what lens do you think is best between the 2?

    Thanks for the help....

  • the 11-16mm is the best lens out there today (imho) for anyone into nightsky, star trails, milky way etc... long exposure photography at night...

i don't own one yet.. but will very soon to stick on the end of a D7000..

  • thanks for this thought it was me who noticed the difference between these 2 definitely going to get these two lenses, was wondering if you knew any website to get lenses at a decent price which ships to the UK i got my Nikon 10.5mm f2.8 Fish eye for $550 but got charge another $200 to collect it from the post office so i rarely shop around ebay for lenses anymore

  • hey there,

would like your honest opinion bro.

sigma 10-20, tamron 10-24, tokina 11-16 and the tokina 12-24.. between the four 3rd party lenses.. which suits me most?

i am doing weddings, outdoors/landscaping and a lil bit of video.

    am using a nikon d90.

    thanks :)

  • @kidshuffle I have a comparison with all of those lenses and the nikon 10-24mm as well called ultra wide angle DX lens comparison, check that out first and then let me know if you still have questions

  • @QQQQcon yerp seen all of the reviews. very clear and straight forward. made me understand that every lenses has their own pros and cons. just need an honest opinion from you since you've experienced all of them first hand.. thanks bro :)

  • @kidshuffle my opinion is to get the tokina 11-16mm if you do a lot of low light photography or the tokina 12-24mm if you dont do alot of low light photography.

  • Isn't the focus and the zoom in reverse?

It seems as though it is. If it is, is it possible to get a normal one, or get something additional to function normally?

  • thanks for this. watching the separate reviews of each lens did not really clarify what i wanted to know, but, now i know. Can't wait to get the 12-24mm

    Thanks

  • How do you get money from there videos?

  • Wow a d3x? Thats insane, are you going to make a review of it?

  • @3GBlog yep should be up soon

  • Comment removed

  • @QQQQcon Damn, jealous. How do you afford all your high quality equipment?

  • @CURTKURT24 make money and save save save.

  • @QQQQcon Haha not so easy on a grocery bagger's salary

  • @CURTKURT24 it would be impossible on a salary like that, I make my money through photography.

  • @QQQQcon Tell me about it. I do have a few paid photo gigs every now and then, but probably not nearly as much as you

  • @CURTKURT24 Most of my money I make through these videos and advertising but I make money through workshops too. I also win contests every now and then and also sell a few pics here and there.

  • @QQQQcon Ah, very cool
