  • Esther, when you started doing Yoga, how long did it take you before you were able to do this one? I started doing Yoga a few years ago to help with Fibromyalgia and it's made a major difference (along with eating vegan/high alkaline/raw foods). I'm still at a beginner/intermediate level and I seem to have pretty weak arms (and frequent lower back pain), but I still hope that eventually I could work up to something like this.. Right now, even wheel pose isn't something I can do.

  • thanks to you esther, finally i can do it! the key was your explaining to extend the twist and to get the left elbow engaged with the hip for stability. i could hold it for only two breaths, but now i'll practice balance and then extending the legs..thanks!!

  • Oh em geee, I cant even get my feet up in the air without jumping xD

  • Hi! Have you ever tried the maximus muscle 247 workout (do a google search)? Ive heard some incredible things about it and my buddy gained lots of muscle with it.

  • I find the balancing technique very similar to regular crow pose and it was much easier to learn once I had been doing crow for awhile. Use a pillow under your head when you practice just in case as you fall over :) And don't be scared if your face sinks low to the ground; this is where the balancing point is!

  • this is a break dance move we call it the baby freeze :)

  • I love this pose, I am dying to get to this level

  • Body & Mind CONTROL! ;)

Amazing form: nice, easy and calm! :)

  • i can do this

  • How the hell can you talk when you are doing that ? GREAT JOB !

  • Done nicely. The key is strong shoulders and triceps for this pose. I can do this pose, but your leg work after the initial pose is the next step for this pose. Again, very nice! :D

  • not good

  • heck no i cant do that!!!! but when i work my way up to it ill post a video of it.

  • O.O not quite up to that level yet... lol

  • Is it better to do this pose with the hip resting on the other elbow? I've seen others instruct not to do this. Which is it?

  • A pose that really looks impossible is the full planche, and it's actually friggin' hard!

  • I love her accent, it reminds me of Bjork; she's Icelandic :D

  • What a nice way to break your elbow if you dont know what you're doing...

  • lmao just like a baby freeze in breakdancing.

  • is she smiling or is she laughing at me? I think she pictures us all in her mind and that just makes her day!! XD!!! seriously, I love her videos.

  • u make it sound as if its as easy as walking ...'little bit of balance trick' hahaha !!!

  • i've done the crow pose, and have held it for two seconds but this side one looks so awesome. i love a challenge! time to get started on working on my arms, back, and core to pull that move off!

  • @Fuliginosus -On your right side as well as your left, doofus!

  • "Hope you make it---and don't forget to do it on the other side as well." Does she mean after we die? I don't want to do yoga in heaven, assuming I 'make it' to heaven. This is all very morbid.

  • wow I've never seen this pose before. I'm having a hard time just doing the crane right now. Definitely want to work my way up to do that. That's incredible, lots of flexibility, arm strength and balance!

  • thisis otherwise know as the babyfreeze, thsi is totally easy

  • I tryed...and it works!!! Magic! Thanks so much!

  • interesting.. it's like the babyfreezer :P

  • *Sighs* This is when I say "Some day..."

  • Not side crow...pavrita koundinyasana...twisted koundinyasana when the legs are straightened. Side crow has both knees stacked and legs bent, as you started.

  • i fell on my face! I'm going to keep practicing this. I noticed other yogi's teach it a bit differently, they don't put the hip on the elbow. your way is easier for me :) thanks

  • hehe, fell on my face! good stuff, i'm going to keep practicing this!

  • I tried this today. Was very excited because I can do Crow no problem. But when I tried this....well....the closest I got was EATING CROW :(

  • i did it! only thing i couldn't do was strech my legs out. but i did it!

  • I've been doing yoga twice a day for a half a year. How long do you think it would take before I can do poses such as this? I find them very difficult.

  • @hellahannah7 I could trying it once... and I've been just 1 week practicing yoga... It depends of your balance and strenght... if your arms can carry your hole body, then you can :)

  • i tried i cant do it !

  • Huh, in bboying they teach a simpler version of this and the majority of people have their wrists sideways, facing each other... This version of the move looks amazing though, I'll definitely learn this :)

  • this was fun, i really enjoy his pose, but I CANT do it and talk about it at the same time! tha's amazing!

    thanks for posting :)

  • Great pose! I wish i could pull it.. You seem like a really good instructor

  • thats the b boy move

  • "it's great fun really~!"

haha.. she is light hearted.. <3

  • I have difficulty doin that :-(

  • i'm pretty sure that if i tray to do this my nose will end up bleeding...

  • wow thats really impressive great job!

  • Darn ... thats tough =( Any chance that you can build on it? like beginner poses to move to this pose ... ?

  • try crane first an you will need like she says cor straight

  • any links to crane pose?

  • there is a beginners pose, which is still tough. Knees are balanced on forearms.

  • Die wil ik echt leren! Daar gaat mijn neus niet blij mee zijn. Ziet er echt heel mooi uit!!

  • I tried this and had a little trouble getting my legs to stay in the air. Should I try a regular handstand first? I also have very weak wrists and carpal tunnel syndrome, but I haven't had much trouble with many other poses that require a lot of arm strength.

  • oooh i love this :D

i do it in break dancing!! woo

  • That is break dance

  • U got balance ! A nice pose by a skilled teacher !

  • impossible. -_- how the hell. i mean i put my wight onto my amrs and yet my legs arnt lifting. *sobs drastically*

  • awwsum! now I wanna try it :)

  • and the point of asuming this position would be?

  • this is baby freeze in dancing.;;)

  • I can almost do that pose, almost!

  • wow! i want to do that!

  • I'm one of those 56 year olds that did it first time she showed me ;) But i've never dreamt of doing it until she showed me. Thanks!!!

    gary

  • wauw ur vids are awesome :)

  • OMG! It"s going to be my ultimate challenge. You are the best!

  • You explain the poses so well - thank you Esther. Could you help me achieve success in the Crow Pose? I've been trying for more than 5 years but somehow, just can't do it. Some helpful tips from you as you demonstrate might be my breakthrough!! Namaste.

  • kool

  • i did it straight away.

  • oh did u??

i found it a bit chalenging lol

  • I'm one of those damn Jerks in their 20s who has an amazing body from working out at the gym. So this pose wasn't that hard for me the first time. Man... I suck...

  • Oh Isit...Lol Okaii :s

  • Done!

That was really cool, thanks a lot.

    Keep on. Best wishes.

  • thanks a lot!!

  • How can you talk when you are doing that ???? Amazing!!!

  • great ! i am def goinf to try it out..but i know that i going to fall pretty badly :D

  • Excellent!! Merci pour toutes ces poses partagées, même si elles ne sont pas toujours évidentes à réaliser... ;) Mais uen fois mises ne pratique... que bénéfiques! :)

    Om Shanti

  • do you do any other workouts besides yoga, like cardio or lifting weights? or does your advanced yoga enable you to skip other workouts?

  • No, I only do yoga, but on a daily basis.

  • @yogatic I'm beginning to have a little crush on u.. You're really good with Yoga. :)

  • Esther, you're awesome :) i LOVE watching your videos and as maddathnu said, you are responsible for me getting into yoga as well. I want have your strength someday! You are really amazing.

  • Nice.

  • very, very nice demo! that's not an easy pose but you make it look easy.

  • I LOVE Crow Pose. All the inversions really helped me understand the role fear has to play in holding us back. When you accept the possibility of falling and persist, and simply approach the pose with curiosity rather than will, you really are as free as a bird!

  • oh Esther! i love ur videos! you are single handedly responsible 4 getting me into yoga!!

i love these extreme poses--altho i havnt got a hope in hell of achieving them! but its great to watch!

  • I can do it almost! :D

  • wow.. ;D

  • You must be very strong, girl !
