  • love the source direct... anyone know of a track they made titled "black rose"? i heard it on an old fracture and neptune mix and cant find it anywhere. can anyone please help

  • Comment removed

  • @Bliddie They made it under a different name. Search for 'Hokusai Black Rose'

  • @youkoose

many many thanks bredren! been lookin for that track for years

  • Never gets old

  • Classic awesome track.Unstoppably on my hard drive for, like, a decade.

  • Mission Global Junglism

  • I was around when this fantastic tune was first played. And bought I the very day it came out...

  • got any jungleing man? quality

  • miazga

  • i love this stuff

  • that the stuff, wow

  • dnb > *

  • WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT. 4 dislikes for this tune, are you serious??? some people need to understand its not just about the screech and wobble. to be honest id like to find out the people responsible for getting this wobble thing started the DNB and dubsteb wobbler producers and lock them in a room spiked up on some seriously potent LSD to fry their brains. piped into the room is nothing but BIGGEST WOBBLE ANTHEMS and the occasional blast of the next acid dose. WOBBLE HELL lol

  • @subdon2k Spot on!

  • @subdon2k Hey come on now, the first people making wobble-based dubstep were Coki, Skream etc. Don't lock them in any rooms haha

  • THE BEST!!

  • Source Direct, PLEASE come back!!!

  • This was the second Drum & Bass track I ever heard. First was a track from the film Blade: Exorcise the Demon by Source direct. That got me hooked on Drum & bass lol.

  • Whoops I meant Call and response from Blade lol

  • Still my favourite GLR.

  • the obvious signs of a bad ass tune is when u get goose bumps. agree?. this tune is full of emotion and deepness, a true statement of abstract dance dnb, 4 the head and feet. respect to SD and the uk dnb scene, the uk underground sound!!!!!!!

still sounds fresh and out of this world.

  • Timeless!! You could put this on in 50 + years time and still be amazed.

When i brought this back when it 1st came out in 96, i laughed to myself and thought yet another SD amen classic.

Whatever these guys made between 94 - 1999 i brought all on vinyl. Rough!!

  • :D

  • Never can get enough of this track!

  • love how this one stands out more than most mad respeckt to SD

  • Those old times. When there were no kids saying stuff about Jizz and poop when listening to songs.

  • @PrawdaUnia Where did all go wrong.

  • @PrawdaUnia tape packs :)

  • Would cum in my pants if this got played out and I was there on pills.

  • I'm so devastated that this era is no more. It just can't be so.

  • just amazing

  • This tune just keeps giving as it rolls out, tunes just don't do that anymore. When i mix this track i give it the 7 minutes it deserves.

  • minute 3:56 = heaven

  • sd boys only use simple breaks like the amen and in this, its just so so simple yet absolutely fcking amazing... no one can do this apart from them big up sd boyz

  • helllllllllllz yeaaaaaaah HAPPINESS :D

  • ...my archetype of D´n´B. Planes of beautiful chords and massive, raw and incredibly propulsive beats as counterpoint. Truly art. This was new and stays unique.

  • Great track! Added to the Amen break Database (amenbreakdbdotcom)!

  • What a beautifull piece of music !!

  • lovin' the revisited old skool amen breaks.... what would we have ever done without Mr Andrews???

  • Hostile amen but so chilled, legendary track from '96!!

  • Musical bliss.

  • wow...

  • whoever disliked this tune is a plain fucking idiot

    insanely good track

  • A monster.

  • this is just relaxation at the fullest...

  • NO one can touch this! This is the truth.

  • TOTALY SICK !! I love it !!

  • I find it hard to believe that after djing and listening to jungle & dnb for nearly 15 years I had never heard of source direct.

Photek has always been a favourite but after seeing the interview with these guys on the dutch interview, i'm stunned.

Sickened and confused by my lack of knowledge. And I had a jungle collection to rival most.

Hangs head in serious shame. But comforted by my rediscovered love of jungle dnb via Source Direct.

  • @jammybleeps u should hang ur head in shame!!!! i just can't believe after soo many years of djing u've never heard of Source Direct till 2 days ago...have u heard of Seba or Paradox?

  • @Nonchalant82 yeah man heard of those guys, had a number of their tunes...

Don't worry I'm making up for it, gunna go scour discogs for this tune and a few others by Source Direct, put an oldskool mix together and relive my youth (as it shoulda been with SD!)

Hokusai - Black Rose aswell methinks...

    Dammit those guys were good...

  • @jammybleeps You shouldn't just hang your head in shame for not knowing one of the greatest dnb duos of all time. But you should feel shame for having to rediscover dnb. You should have never forgot! Plus, "jungle dnb," "jungle & dnb" - I'm sure you've heard the expression "I comes before U?" Well D and B comes before J U N G L E!

  • @mud409 oh give him cred for owning up like a man! Photek was sick; but the Seba & Lotek combos were the best... So Long is incredible.

  • @jammybleeps

look up talkin headz. watch it from beginning to end. repeat.

  • @jammybleeps i know what you mean. I've been into jungle d&b since 1993 and i still find tunes and producers i missed back in the day!

  • ah man.. from 2.45min hits deep down! not heard for a few years so thanks

  • AMAZING

  • FUCKING SMART

  • Bad, Bad Tune

  • i was six wen this came out, gettin right into old skool dnb and this is class

  • @junglistization i was one when this came out and ive been listening to this stuff for a while. lol

  • it's hard to believe a human made this...has the most feeling of any song or any genre ever....why aren't people listening to this?!

Can anyone tell me what these guys are doing now?

  • one of them died

  • one fo them runs Vampire Recs which has released tunes over the last few yrs

  • i know one works at a kfc in ohio

  • discovered source direct from the blade movie today, pretty impressed with this track, i like the underlying relaxed tones mixed with the energetic drum n bass.

  • Those, who know, they know the very special feeling of the cover in your hands. sometimes it is too dark to have a look inside your case. it felt rough, and it is... grey and blue, and you allways knew, when you started up a set, ... the crowd would raise, yeah, indeed, really tearing up the place. hammering!!!

  • oh gosh...legendary tune for those that know....stands out from the era..test of time...killer!!!!

  • what's better? this...... or exit 9? i just cant decide. i wonder what the Source Direct sequenced their amens on. phenomenal stuff. always took me to new realms.

  • Ive mixed this choon to death man AND i still find it haunting and enrgetic....a real challenege to mix without crowding the inward choon....absolute magic when nailed!....Love it!!

  • if u love the amens like me, check out nebula - chords of sorrow. pure class!

    greetings from briton!!!! =P

  • This tune made me realize Drum n'bass is a fuckin'art. quite possibly the sickest tune ever!

  • @HENN3H i love this song too....but i got a track waaaay sicker....too bad it ain't here on youtube...PDI - Rhygin

  • @Nonchalant82 Sicker? What and by whom?

  • @94style i got a rare gem on vinyl by a producer by the name of Rhygin, the tune is called "PDI" i'll post a vid later this week of the tune....i'm very sure it isn't on here already...

  • @Nonchalant82 You mean the ragga thing from the Canadian label 10 pound sound? Over 7 years later and not even in the same league, my friend. We are talking timeless tunes here.

  • @94style i didn't mean sicker as in better, i meant as in sicker breaks....i wouldn't dare diss a classic...i am a junglist!

  • @HENN3H Truly. Except I think that about ALL the Source Direct stuff.

  • cool amen track

  • i do love my amens :P

  • Your Amens? :)

  • In case you didn't know: The amen break Is the bea every single breakbeat tune is based on (meaning mos Hiphop, all DNB an Dubstep) Listen to Amen Brother by The Winstons and get enlightened, Noob

  • How dare you thinking that i don't know about amen brother!!!

I love that break! But thanks for the information! i would have been glad to know that, if i didn't know already. Peace :)

  • not directed at you btw..

  • This shit makes me wish I was born in 1979 instead of 1989! SICK

  • TUUUUNE!!!!

  • 2nd time i played this after buying it ,it blew my speekers!!!!!

  • haha awesome man

you know how to play source direct the right way

  • head down and RAVE to the sub, let it take you away!

  • I have 2 distinct memories of this track.

    1) Doc Scott playing it as his last tune at the end of a 6 1/2 hour set with the sun coming through the windows of the club.

    2) Finding it for $15 in a second hand record store and letting my mate have it because it was the last Source Direct tune he needed to complete his collection.

  • hey, you two must be real friends for sure

    that's noble of you

  • very noble indeed!

  • The world needs more friends like you!

  • respect

  • Tight as fock. Heavy man!

  • Gotta say this whole song is the sex. Really marvelous.

  • Incredible track.

  • i loved that rolling kind break back in the day!

    Praise to the d n b gods !!

  • Best tune ever!

  • Now he plays starbucks jazz dnb

you have no clue. maybee in your gay city. in nbg, ffm,mü,brl, bkk and manheim he plays very tuff sets in the last year. but if your ppl need coffe music he can play as well.^^

  • Fookin Deep man, gotta love this!

  • This is some great stuff by the SD boys. Love this shit!

  • Sorce Direct is the best thing what happened to dnb!!

  • i think you're right

    i love source direct

    their drums are always sharp

  • Wow That Break With the HitHat And Snare My God :D

  • Wow this is dope. Love the Amen break and what these guys are doing(or did) with it. The drums fuckin' flow. Shit is DOPE

  • Perfect.. nothing like it to come out not even close in the future, that's`a shame, but hej, we still have this perfection to listen to until something good comes out.

    x

  • To me this is one of the best jungle, ups sorry, dnb tune.

    x

  • yuuummmyyy... Delicious jungle. Love that sounds..

  • I remember hearing bukem drop this numerus times back in the day and it smashed it up every time. Their style is dark, clean and soulful all at the same time.

  • Aaaah...back in the good old bukem days..Loved his style of cutting between the breaks over proper tearin atmospheric styles. Now he plays starbucks jazz dnb..

  • anyone know where i can buy this on cd? this is second to none!

  • pick up Good Looking Records - Points in Time vol 1 pretty sure its the last track on there

  • cheers buddy i'll be checking that one out ;)

  • You can find this track on

Various - Points In Time 001 (Good Looking Records 1999)

  • One of my favourites...just flawless.

  • this is quality.

  • Rewind!!! haha best frkn dnb track ever made , for a fact ... Phil Aslett and Jim Baker. are source direct , one is dead dohw rest in piece. other one still has vampire records going ..

  • does anyone know who was in source direct?

  • Deep Tune!!!!!!!!

  • secret liaison

  • Sick Samples, Sick Programming, Thanks for uploading this!..

  • shit is ill

  • This tune is his there with the best! Bukem seems 2 have gone a bit flaky recently but he is still da king of ambiance....

  • The chords in this track must be where breaks go to when they die! Goddamn beautiful track!

  • 7]-[15 8347 15 fu[k1/\/9 4\/\/350]\/[3.

  • wow i actually managed to read that, shame on me. and possibly shame on you for being able to type that way!

  • THIS BEAT IS FUCKING AWESOME

  • Very nice,cheers.

  • Oh my dayyzz, this tune is absolutely duttyness, I remember Bukem dropping it right before the end of his Back to Speed set at the end and the crowd going mental. Man those piano keys and the tracks bass weight on the end's soundsystem!!

  • I wouldnt call this drumfunk but yes drumfunk is whats left of the drum n bass we knew back then

  • TUUUUUUUUUNE

  • lovely

  • One of the first Dnb tunes I ever bought on wax-Definitely miss this sound

  • So this is drumfunk? would Black Domina be considered drumfunk? i love these kind of breakbeats but i can rarely find them.

  • i would drumfunk was something paradox coined for his own production......more of the nu skoolers like equinox, fanu, breakage etc fit into this subgenr.... most of these guys were influenced by tunes like these.

  • wicked comment. thanks.

  • masterpiece

  • you said bro

  • Amazing tune,i miss those mid 90's tunes

  • yup me too...95 and 96 were *so* special (94 and 97 were great too). great to see/hear dnb coming back with this sound over the past few years

  • this is when breaks where breaks man, so beautiful and mega fuckin danceable, brilliant!

  • it is a peaceful track man... i could listen to this all day

  • I remember when I first heard this track on "Points in Time vol. 1". I was like "my God" this is a beautiful track. That piano/harp like synth in the background works perfectly for the track. Great use of the Amen loop.
