@emachines34 Speed is limited by the single bore London tunnels it wasn't deamed worth while to build for 300km/h (would have required 8-10m bores - for 230km/h it is 6m same as the channel tunnel!)

why do you need higher bore tunnels for higher speed?

Also I am assuming they dont reach 300km/h in the channel tunnel?

@emachines34 Speed in the channel tunnel is 160km/h to fit between the shuttles.

Larger bores are required to reduce the piston effect of fast trains hitting the air in front

i think its around 140mph which is about 230kmh
