Holy smokes! Thanks for posting this! I lost this CD about a decade ago...I listened to this song almost every night in high school...amazing technique and flavor.
Everything off his 1990 album (like this song) is absolutely amazing, but I was disappointed to find that his style seems to have changed quite a bit since then. at least I don't care for any of his other albums, what a shame
@yummypaint Well, I don't know. I think it is very cool that he made this music; perhaps he just felt that there wasn't anything else he could do with the style?
Live across the street from his family. Never knew the guy was so good for the longest time. He is so humble. I see him from time to time and yes, he is the shit!
Just heard this song today on pandora...Amazing instrumental, reminds me of Jason Becker's vibrato and use of the bar somewhat. Awesome melody none the less. Probably the only player who can play Jason's stuff and have the same feeling. The End of the Beginning on Jason's Perspective album played by MLF enough said.
Saw him at the National Guitar Summer Workshop back around 89 (they used to have guest players there frequently) and my buddy got to jam with him. Very nice guy. No attitude at all. Fantastic live.
Bah - just realized I posted the same thing in the other MLF vid. Sorry for the spam ppl - it was just really cool at the time, so MLF always reminds me of that jam lol.
He is one obscure name in the guitar world, not many people (including guitarists) have heard of him. However, he is a brilliant guitarist, one of the few who could shred using mild overdrive instead of crunching distortion.
they're two completely different players. for one, firkins is light years ahead of EVH as a guitarist and secondly, unfortunately MLF doesn't play like this anymore.
their technique's are very different. eddie plays like a rock player whereas firkins plays like a country player. All his playing is for the most part hybrid picked because he doesn't use a guitar pick.
the guy who was charged for bank robbery from Mad TV brought me here

me and my band did a cover of this song.
I play the lead part, and this song is damn hard to play with such precision and all these harmonics. god i love this song:P
666guitarfreak 3 years ago
sounds cool! Yeah, I can't think of many guitarists who get those kind of harmonics.
