@mistresspav I live in a remote area of upper Mongolia near Qinghai Lake. I am the only person in my village to have internet access. This is in thanks to my rich capitalist American cousin who arranged for me to have satellite internet. A woman in our village was recently caught sprouting and was taken away by the authorities. They sometimes give you an option of prison or amputating a finger as punishment.
@Lulu4Him Please visit my website for recipes :). The other grains I mentioned was quinoa and amaranth. They are very healthy! On the right sidebar of my blog you will see pictures and links to my recipes for gluten free sprouted tortillas and gluten free sprouted bread.
Hey! Your video was very helpful! :) I never managed to successfully sprout my rice before. My question though, why would you bother sprouting the rice if you are cooking it after? Sprouted rice is full of enzymes and packed with nutrients. Cooking it will destroy all that good stuff you just created by sprouting. Chewing your food properly will help your digestion without need to cook. Thanks again!
@Spidersweb14 I'm not sure about a coffee filter but you can use screen like you buy for screen doors and hold it on with a rubber band. What I did was buy the grease splatter guards from wal-mart (I paid a little over $6 for two and only used one of them) and I removed the screen easily by hand. Then using the seal as a template, I cut the screen into circles that fit right on top of my jars and the rings hold the screen on perfectly (almost exactly like the one in the video)
can U just eat the rice raw without cooking after sprouted......and I understand sprouting removes the starch........where can I get the lids w/ screens....?
@garlicdawg I purchased the sprouted screen from cultures for health website. I tried to link the website, but youtube wouldn't let me =(. I never eat grains raw. Cooking helps them to digest better. Some raw foodist would disagree with me though.
@MrNativeDancer "Soft and crunchy" raw rice is actually hard for people with IBS (like me) and other digestive issues to eat... hurts going down. But thanks for explanation
@lovsoup OK well try and wait until there is a good sized shoot. Then just blend them up in a blender, so you can still have your healthy food. Sorry meant to put this bit on my last comment! Hope it helps!
I like the idea behind the sprouting screens. But I'm curious about how to get my hands on one. Is there a place that you purchase it from or do you make it yourself?
Kool! I'll have to try this. I've been sprouting wheat for about a year, but haven't done rice yet. Incidentally, I've never had a problem with fermentation. Shouldn't be an issue as long as U rinse it regularly, & drain thoroughly. Check out the first vid on my channel. God bless! :)
Sorry if I repeat the question: is it ok then to eat the rice sprouts raw, or not? (since you say not to eat grains raw)

Just get a nylon stocking or knee high as a screen. Simply cut to size and use a rubber band to hold in place!

What and where do you get the other two grains you mentioned? Are they done the same way? Are as healthy as brown rice? Would you share your recipe?

In my country this activity is illegal. My uncle Omar is in prison for sprouting.

@cstalley what kind of messed up country won't let you sprout seeds!? I'm glad he wasn't a farmer, he would have gotten the death penalty.

Rice, and all other grains, should never be eaten raw. Sprouting the rice and cooking it helps it to be easily digested.

Do you cook this rice afterwards? I have read that some people cook it. I was more interested in eating it raw if that is possible?

I've sprouted rice before and found it too crunchy to eat. Hard to digest. Why do people eat hard rice? hard to digest. Thanks for demo
lovsoup 8 months ago
@lovsoup If your rice is hard then you have not sprouted it? Sprouting makes a shoot grow and the seed actually becomes soft and crunchy.
