wait man this is what i dont understand... first we have 48 chromosomes 23 in one set... than it divides by 2 so each part has one set (24 chromosomes) and then it divdes again... so 11.5????

@MrMultitalentiert when it divides again, it doesn't divide the number of chromosomes, in this part of the cell division it happens just like on mitosis, where the number of chromosomes remains the same. sorry for my bad english, hope it helped.

Hey tenho uma duvida: No final da meiose, resultam 4 células, mas 3 sao destruidas certo? Só uma vai resultar da meiose, que depois entra em sucessivas mitoses, ou estou errada?

totalmente errada! a meiose resulta em 4 células que, em geral, permanecem intactas e prontas a realizarem suas funções (normalmente reprodutivas). a parada da "destruição" ocorre na gametogênese do óvulo, mas é outra história- as células se atrofiam para priorizar o crescimento dos ovócitos, que vão originar os óvulos.

Well because the woman's ovule and the man's spermatozoids are produce through meioses. If the meiosis is not correct then defects like Down Syndrome occur.

Theses chromosome aberrations can be avoided by genetic counseling and thus healthy babies are born instead of unhealthy ones.

So to understand meioses is pretty important, specially for women.

If i really had the need to harm someone, i would be killing ppl, or at least hurting them somehow.

And yes, maybe my english isn't the best you can find, but at least understand and i'm able to answer on/in english.

The point is, some ppl read your comment and get the wrong idea about books. I see several ppl studying by the internet, where you can't find all you need and there are some veery wrong informations.

@thesonekamitu Fine by me (not the killing and hurting part). I got nothing against books, I love books. When I wrote this comment, I was studying for my final exams and got a terrible collection of single sheets of paper, with information copied from Wikipedia, filled with spelling and grammar mistakes. So you may see why I was happy to find this video. And btw. if you wanna show ppl that literature is worth their time, yelling and cussing at them ain't a good way of proving your point. ;)
