  • Thank the lord ! someone who can pronounce the name of this great gun properly!

Vaquero.. where the term... Buckaroo came from.

  • I don't see that frame finish on Ruger's site. Only stainless and blued.

  • Great looking gun. Putting on the ivory grips is a nice touch. This video temps me to go out and buy one for myself and I already have more handguns than I need.

  • Nicely done and very informative!!! Gorgeous gun, too!!!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • the double click of the hammer being pulled back alway makes me smile.

  • Can the .357 vaquero handle hotter loads?

  • love the captions, I lol'd

  • Great gun bought one last march. stainless with five and a half inch barrel. I have shot it about 350 times. shooting only 38's. 38 rounds that have 900+ FPS work best.

  • does any body know if the ruger bisley comes blued with a casehardend fram

  • nice gun im getting two stainles ones

  • Dang, $500...my local shop usually carries it for $600 and it's on sale now for $560 haha

  • Stuck on this and the new model Blackhawk =/ I'll be happy with either, though.

  • Colt SAA's piss me off. The spring used to rotate the cylinder is crap, and Ruger fixes that problem.

  • 35 guns is a dangerously low number- best get more lest you suffer from the worst effects of iron deficiency.

  • ruger make good guns at good prices

  • I went and bought a gp100 for my first handgun. Maybe I should have went with this

  • What factory loads have you found to be most accurate & shoot to point of aim with this revolver? I have one, but I'm having trouble finding an accurate load for it. (357 or .38)

    Thanks!

  • I didn't care for the .45LC until I saw that fat hole in the front that fat gun! Beautiful, looks like fun. I can't stop checking this gun out-I'll have to get one. Colt & Uberti also have their own offerings of this 1873 SAA revolver. I like Ruger's b/c you don't need to half cock the trigger to load. Ruger's also has the trigger block so you can fully load it for safe carry. Quite an improvement if you ask mwah

  • Nice....looking to buy one. 38's are good fro plinkin, 357 is great for personal protection bar none. Did you buy with ivory grips or get them after market.

  • lovely !

  • OMFG MY FATHER HAS THE SAME EXACT GUN YOU HAVE

  • @reaper83001

    COOL STORY, BRO

  • i thought that ivory grips had some sort of rule and regulation thing that it was cut before the laws is that actual ivory

  • hey im in the market for one and you said this was case hardened and treated to bring out the colors? Ive seen some that are blued but no where near as good looking as yours. how can you get it treated? thanks

  • The cylinder will only spin if you have the loading gate open.

  • @a2l2d2e2n i love this vid and this gun i shot a new for the first time yesterday and it was sighted in right out of the box , though im not the best marksman i still hit my target a majority of the time this gun has little revoil and a great feel THANKS FOR THE VID !!!! very informative

  • only thing i dont like is how you can spin the cylinder without it being half cocked... who wants to bump the cylinder against something on accident and end up skipping a round? i dont see why they felt like they should allow it to spin all the time like that.

  • Thats a beautiful gun you have there, thanks for showing it off in your video.

  • those grips look good on a nickle finish

  • Where'd you buy your nice holster and what did you pay for it?

  • Only thing i dont like about theVaquero is the trigger i prefer the old style trigger

  • Since it shoots a .357 cant it shoot .38 specials also?

  • @BlackSabbath1204 -- Yes it does. That's the main reason I bought it. But what I have discovered is that .357 mags are just a little bit more accurate.

  • @a2l2d2e2n Also, they make Shotshells for this gun....AWESOME!

I recently got a Silver barrel with ivory handles Vaquero. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

  • @BlackSabbath1204 357s can shoot 38 shells?????? if u dont know be honest

  • @lyfe1zruff Yes .357 and .38 Special are the same caliber. The .357 is the Magnum version of the .38. If you own a .357 magnum you may shoot .38 Special as well as .38 Special +p. There are also shot shell loads in this caliber. Quite versatile. The 158 gr bullets are the norm. I read it's good for hunting with a 180 gr. bullet. Light-recoil .38 loads are great for plinking & use less powder which saves on handloading.

  • @ntrudr800 lol yea i saw the mini shot shells, i couldnt believe it

  • @lyfe1zruff they (ruger) also make a model that shoots .357, .38 and 9mm-just have to swap out the cylinder--called the convertible-great idea--and the 44mag can shoot 44 special

  • @lyfe1zruff Yes pretty common knowledge anything thats a .357 mag also fires .38 spc.

  • I love my Vaquero, mine is chambered in .45 long colt, I would like to get some aged ivory grips for it sometime...

  • I did not know that. Thanks!

  • dont forget if you get a lever action, you can get standard SAAMI pressure .357 magnum loads that will throw 158 grains at 2153fps and be safe to use in your vaquero.. thats 1626ft/lbs out of a lever action, cant do that with a .45lc combo

  • @TheFirearmEnthusiast .357 is the caliber not the length

  • What is the model number on that vaquero? The "case hardened frame" model is not shown on the ruger site.

  • What's the model number on that new vaquero ? it is not shown on the ruger site.

  • Me too. I want a Ruger GP 100 double action wheel gun .357 for my next wheel gun. It's a beauty. Ruger makes the best wheel guns, in my opinion.

  • @a2l2d2e2n Smiths are just as good, but I prefur Ruger myself also.

  • I'm a big fan of the .357 mag , & that's a very nice SA revolver you have there .

  • just bought a new vaquero, and I gotta say i love it. its a great gun, i have the stanless steel with trigger job too. its a dream.

  • nice gun.

  • Very nice gun. I have one with the 5 1/2" barrel. A joy to shoot. One point about the color case-hardening, though - Ruger's finish is not true color case-hardening. It's a finishing process designed to "resemble" color case-hardening. Beautiful, just the same. Very strong guns.

  • yes i LOVE ruger guns. i have a couple (7) (an more other than ruger) i got both the .357 and 45 long colt. i also have the new modal single six in .22(lr, magneum) and .17, i got the 10-22, and minie 14, and the bear cat. all the revolvers are stainless. i love them. if you are looking at getting a first revolver i would go with a ruger single six.

  • Do those funny colours come off with wear or do they just get brighter since the bluing comes off.

  • is it possible to get a gun like this in 9 mm?

  • No, you can get it in .45 colt

    or 357mag.

  • .357 inches = 9.0678 millimeters

  • yes its the ruger blackhawk convertible comes with a 357mag and a 9mm cylinder u can take a look at it ruger,s website

  • i was surfing to find a video exactly like this, answered all the questions I had about this firearm, thx

  • Just fired my new Ruger Vaquero chambered in 357, stainless steel with the 5 1/2 inch barrel. It was dead on at about 15 yards shooting 158 grain jacketed soft point ammo. Fun and reliable coming from Ruger. Great weapon!

  • Thanks for the video. And may i say that you have extremley good taste when it comes to guns.

  • Thanks for the video. Been looking at these and ordered one from Buds till I found out that everyone was out of 45 LC. Good point about the 357/38 version. I like your annotations. "Why so serious"? :-)

  • if you hold down the trigger and fan the hammer for rapid fire, would it mess up the gun?

  • Yes. It also voids the warranty. That doesn't stop guys from doing it though, all the time.

  • i was wondering if you new i bought the stainless and have you herd of fileing the front sight ,,,to sight it in any info would be grateful

  • Yes I have heard of that. It's actually pretty common to to do that. I opted not to. I just adjusted my sight picture.

  • no it is not theres a big dif

  • No only the original Colts have the firing pins on the hammer. The Vaquero has a transfer bar safety.

  • great video im looking at one for 480,00 stainless how well does it shoot ,,,thanks

  • It is simulated ivory?

  • Yes. Probably the same material they use to make counter tops. Real ivory has to have been harvested something like 50 years ago when it was legal, and is very expensive.

  • Don't know, but I would imagine you would need a really good gunsmith with experience doing this. All the Colt aficionados I know carry it as is with 5 rounds... the chamber under the hammer empty.

  • Why is that chamber empty? The New Vaqueros dont have the firing pin built onto the hammer.

The original Colts did, but the rugers dont.

You should be able to safely care all six rounds in your pistol. Your gun wont go off.

  • im looking for a single action revolver that for all intents and purposes is identicle to an origional colt, with the one exception of a transfer bar safety... so new vaquero or beretta stampede... i think the stampede is close to an origional since its based on the uberti cattlemans... does anyone know if a transfer bar safety could be installed after-market?

  • I have exactly the same Ruger Vaquero in stainless....... it has same barrel lenght but mine comes in 44 Magnum.

It´s an awesome gun, very reliable and it looks great....thanx god it is much sheaper as the original custom shop Colt SAA revolvers.

  • The barrels are the same on the Blackhawks and the Vaqueros, the difference is the sights. The Blackhawk has a broad flat top with adjustable rear sights. The Vaquero's sights are not adjustable -- you just have to adjust the way you shoot, not the other way around. Go to a gun shop or show and compare them.

  • how accurate is it im trying to choose between a blackhawk 45lc or a vaquero 45lc

  • i bought the Ruger new Vaquero in the .45 long colt (6.5" barrel) and it's a blast, makes me feel like Kid Antrim himself, don't waste your money or time for the blackhawk

  • long colt ammo is expensive, thats why you should do your own loads, pttph

  • heh.. you can get a lee progressive press kit, with case feeder, priming tool, and powder measure all set up for 45lc for $160

  • ok, point being ?

  • well, you mentioned doing your own loads, so i mentioned a very cheap and easy way to get into that for anyone interested

  • Awesome. My mouth is watering over the Baisley, New Vaquero, with the high gloss stainless and imitation ivory grips. I was also looking at the Uberti, Cattleman-Cody. Im leaning towards the Ruger though. Good choice with the .357. Thats the way Id go too, especially with the ammo prices these days and the ass clown president. Sweet gun!

  • Don't buy Uberti. Buy Ruger. It's better quality and American made.

  • The color case hardened frame is gorgeous. They don't seem to list those on the Ruger site. Very, very nice pistol. I would love to own a pair of them.

  • So the drum doesnt fully open? The only way to load this is by puting bullets one by one? This gun is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship

  • That sure is one beautiful pistol you have! I never seen any Vaqueros in Color case hardened. But only blued and stainless.

  • I think you let me try that one at the range, and I have to say it was excellent. Great job on the new grips.

  • Yeah I love it. It took me about 300 rounds to figure out the point of aim though, cause the sights are fixed. You just have to practice with it and you'll be hittin' the bullseyes every time.

  • man that thing is awesome, I'm hoping I can get something like that for my next revolver purchase
