  • I really would do the same as you if I could afford to I mean I have cash ready to throw at the wall but I love getting my hands in there and being more OCD on the look of my baby rather than bug a part and slide it in its only home on the mobo can honesty say its an addictive hobby but if it wasn't for this I'd probably still be drinking my life away

  • Watch my videos soon iam making almost same case with same colors only got watercooling inside to! modding it thnx for tips and videos!

  • I have the 24 inch version of the Flatron. It's amazing, well worth the money

  • is there final video or u just die working on it

  • @glavonjagrob Got to busy with clients builds, so I never did have the time to finish it 100%. However I do use it everyday and plan on eventually finishing it.

  • @andraine28 Thanks bro, sorry for the late reply.

  • Your cable management is amazing.

  • @JAF5537 Thanks bro...take a look at my latest vid, "Skull Crusher up 4 sale" as the cable mgmt. on that build is really awesome.

  • I wonder if, by any chance, you'd be interested in "building a watercooler from scratch"? With an externally-mounted, non-attached (not fixed on the case) radiator, of course...

  • @ATDOINFERNO Yeah, if you're willing to pay. PM me if you are interested. The Big 10k Kahuna...which is coming up is going to have 2 external WC'ing setups. They are stand alone all in one setups...Rad,pump, res all in one...they cost about a grand each, as least the one's my client has chosen.

  • @WestCoastMods wow o.O ...and to think that the very least anyone would have to pay, in order to have a *fairly decent* "home-made" WC, here (BR), would be about, say, 300USD...that was 4~5 years ago.

But 1k USD must be a somewhat *deluxe* WC setup...

(btw, I wonder why did I forget to subscribe last time...? Thumbz up =)

  • @ATDOINFERNO Yeah, you can do a Wc'ing set up for around $300...but to be honest it;s really alot more than that....a waterbock for a CPU is around $100, waterblocks for GPU are about the same, rads range any were from $50 to $150 depending on there size. Then the fittings are around $6 to $12 each and depending what you WC you could need as many as 20 to 25 fittings, then you have the pumps, about $60 or more each, res $50-100, then tubing, coolant clamps, ect. so to do a custom setup 500-1000

  • west which black color did you used inside of the case?

  • @CRYPTfromCATACOMBZ I used DupliColor Semi Glossy Black. Along with a self etching primer

    Don't forget to subscribe

    LazyMan

  • NIce video's! i was wondering if the housing for your 3 front panel switches was custom made? i cant seem to find any kind of housing for switches online.

    Thank you.

  • @oz73942 Thanks bro, yeah it's custom made, but really all you have to do is drill a hole for the switch...pretty simple mod.

    LazyMan..btw don't forget to subscribe.

  • 6:13 "If I need to go to a light show, i'll go to a light show." that made me crack up xD

    Great Video Lazy.

  • @dazza2708 For me it's the truth....lol

  • How da fuhk do they call you lazyman!!!?

  • @Jailbreak2G It's a self given name....I always feel that I could have done more or that i haven't done enough. There's just not enough hours in a day. If you have time catch some of my newer vids.

    Cheers

    LazyMan

  • @WestCoastMods respect man.

  • did you change the side door?, i have the same case and v8 cooler, but i had to take out the big side panel fan because the v8 touch the side fan and the door won´t close.

  • @vapordegrasa Yes I did

  • for the fan, use the 140mm fan bracket that comes with the case. You'll find that it wedges nicely in there with no bits sticking out. I've mounted a 120mm fan to it and not its right where yours is in the case. Looks great.

  • @neardood1 Thanks for the suggestion, however it only comes with

2 - 140mm fan brackets, and I am using both already. One in front of the harddrive cage and the other one on the back side of the harddrive cage. Maybe I will look at mounting the fan that is between the harddrive cage and the front bezel another way and use that bracket as you have suggested. But since I made this vid back in Nov.09 I have since made the clips to hold the 140mm fan.

    Thanks again

    LazyMan

  • np bro

  • wow nice job :D i would never think to do something that awsome :D

  • @strongrussianduty Thanks bro

  • Very pretty machine.

  • i love what you did with the case

    great job

    keep up the good work!

  • @dudemvp Thanks for all your comments.......been on a WestCoastMods marathon?

  • @WestCoastMods I just been on a black widow marathon :)

i love what you did with the case and the v8

    great job :)

  • @dudemvp Thanks bro

  • I'm surprise you didn't spray the back motherboard bracket red.

  • @BertJundt LOL

  • How do you like those feet?

  • @spearmintmonkey Excellent quality case feet. The anodized black ones are pretty nice. Very easy to install

  • What motherboard are you using in part 2? Part one had a Classified and Ge

Force 295 but in this you have (2) 285's and what looks like to me is an Asus board?

  • @2stent Part 1 has the same mobo and GPU's as you saw in part 2. Are you sure thats what you saw?

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • @2stent

Thanks for response! Must have viewed wrong vid. Keep the vids coming as I'm applying much of the techniques I learn from them! They are greatly informative and fun at the same time!

  • "I went ahead and sleeved my zip ties, i bet some of you guys are gonna think that's a little extreme. But that's just the way i do things."

Haha that's awesome. Your work is just awesome!

  • @harperadam Thanks Bro !

  • Love this build. I hope to see that bay switch wiring vid, and if you make a holder for the front cage 120mm intake fan. I need this, actually, was looking at some solutions and nothing caught my eye or right for my case. Do you use any filters, for intakes at least? Great job as always.

  • No filter at all, i feel they restrict air flow and can put extra stress on the fan. It does make for a more responsible cleaning regiment. though.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • LOL :-)

  • suscribed after watching the v8 mod! =)

  • Thanks Bro!

  • Wow that looks really nice. I watched almost all of your Black Widow videos on here and that project is coming along very nicely! The little extra steps you are taking are definitely going to give it that professional look. The cable management you've got going on is also very nice. After spending all that time with cable management, I think my biggest fear would be having the power supply die and having to rip it all out and start over haha.

  • Thanks bro, I hope the PSU doesn't take a dump, because that would be a disaster.

    Thanks for all your support

    LazyMan :-)

  • Oh and I'm subscribed now! Hope to see more vids!

  • Thanks bro!

  • Great video. Haha I think I'm going to watch every single vid today. Never thought about sleeving the zip ties, since I started watching these custom mod vids! Very cool.

  • I think you did watch all my vids, or close to it.

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • Might be a bit late but, You might consider going with white CCFL's. I'm building a red/black FT02 and the red didn't look so well. i was much happier with the white cold cathodes

  • Thanks for the suggestion, but I may not use any CCFL's as I change all the Xigmatek's white LED's with 10,000 mcd red LED's and it lights up the case pretty nicely. I will be doing a video on it soon.

But you are correct, I bought 4 different red CCFL and they looked more like pink. lol

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • You might consider the red LED bars they looked red. My biggest beef with the red led's was that the black stays black and the red's in the case looked real dull. I really wanted white meteor lights which logisys dosen't make. (i even e-mailed them and they were nice enough to reply back and tell me the minimum order requirement to make something new) I might just grab their green meteor light and re-solder in white LED's they're supposed to have a similar voltage reqirement.

  • Cool, that sounds like the way to go. I have thought about the LED bars, in fact I used a LED bar in my V8 Mod.

Thanks for your help and good luck with your lighting

    LazyMan :-)

  • love your vids man your a perfectionist and to be honest i am to "when it comes to computers" haha anyways if you have not subscribed to this guy yet do it now or i'll cable tie you to my cablemanagment holes and if your in the mood check out my channel to :D

  • Thanks bro.

I'll check out you channel as soon as I have some free time.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • got a different model LG 24". W2453V-PF. but was debating on spending more cash on LG LED monitor. Probably shoulda went with the LED, but was pushing budget already. Still, LG is a good monitor brand from my experience.

  • I just bought the LG LED 2486L and after about a week had to return it, didn't live up to my standards. Colors were over saturated, viewing angle was terrible, base was wobbly and it didn't have height adjustment. So now I have the Dell U2410, actually 2 of them, super fantastic monitors for the price. Don't know about the one you have chosen, but if it's a TN panel I wouldn't expect much.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • @WestCoastMods: It's a TN panel, but a very good one. Is there such thing as a cheap IPS panel? that's good? lol

  • Well I picked these up on sale for $499 ea. That is reasonable cheap for a IPS panel. I was having my doubts because they were so cheap, others i looked at were near $1000 for a 24". But after getting these and making sure they were the Rev A01 model, I would highly recommend them. I will be doing a video here real soon comparing the TN's to IPS panels.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • i've got a dell 24 inch ultrasharp monitor its a great monitor

  • Is it the U2410?

  • @WestCoastMods yep :)

  • Is it the Rev A01 or Rev A00

Also I found that using the custom color gives me the best color accuracy. Here are my settings, set the "Red" to 45 and the rest to 48 then set your brightness to 73 and contrast to 65. I have a Datacolor Spyder 3 calibrator, but haven't had the time to use it yet, will soon.

If you try my setting let me know what you think.

    LazyMan :-)

  • That depends what you ned the u-channel for and how big is the hole. There's different u-channel for different needs. Some u-channel is solid and more rigid, great for window mods, then there's slotted u-channel for tighter curves, good for smaller slots on the mobo tray. Then both slotted and solid u-channel comes in couple different sizes and colors.

Check out MNPCTECH, Performance PC's, Frozen CPU's, and Crazy PC's, each carry something a little different, keyword: edge molding

    LazyMan :-)

  • U R THE MAN. I'm gonna get the same case. I can build good but modding will be a new challenge for me. Never even considered it till I saw "BLACK WIDOW". I'm not gonna really mod. Just maybe paint the case and a couple other things. Is BW finished? Cant wait 2 c it.

    U Rock man.

  • Thanks bro, no it's still a work in process, even though I have it up and running. Since i started the client build Shadow storm, I had to put the BW on the back burner. Will try working both at the same time though.

  • Nice build...I love black widow!!!!

    cool!!!!

  • Thank You! Black Widow loves you too!

  • Very nice build I have the same case I am about to start painting I am wondering if anyone knows were I can find some castor wheel case feet I have thought about modding some from the hardware store but they are all too big

  • Thanks bro, good luck with your case painting.

As far as castor wheels try looking at McMasterCarr(dot)com

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • LazyMan, where did you get the 3/4 inch hole grommet?

  • Check Home Depot, Fry's, Micro Center, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Performance PC's, Frozen CPU's, or Crazy PC's.

The reason I mention so many is that none of them carry the all the same sizes, I have bought from everyone above, just depending on the size needed. However now I just buy them online at Component Force (dot) com

look under cable mgmt, they have any size you need, plus offer free samples

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • No problem bro, as far as sleeving your zip-ties, that is a patented technique, which will require you to purchase a license from me. just kidding

Good luck and send me a PM if you post any vids

    LazyMan :-)

  • It's called u-channel or edge molding. You can find it at MNPCTECH, Performance PC's, and Frozen CPU's.

The dubber around the small round holes are called grommets, foud at all electronic stores, hardware stores and the places mentioned above.

If you need more help PM me

    LazyMan :-)

  • absolutely goergious. Even sleeving zip ties. I can't wait for your next videos. I don't like the case but with what you have done for it, i jsut hope they sponsored you.

  • Thanks, no this build was all on my own $.

  • I must say your PC is just beyond amazing. You put a lot of time and effort into your work and it really shows. If I ever had someone build my PC it would be you. 5/5

  • Thanks Hugh, really appreciate your kind words. Yeah, if you every need anything done, lets talk

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Haha my real name is Tom I just use that name as a joke, but yeah I'll let you know... ;)

  • i was having a problem with the 230mm case fan hitting the V8 cooler but i have the mid tower too. i was wondering if you had the same problem with the F/T. it dont make any noise or any thing im just worried it might get stress cracks after awhile. it was a really tight fit getting my components into the armor+ mid tower

  • Yeah, I see that could be a problem. I personally don't know, I plan on removing what I consider an ugly 230mm fan.

So I will not run into that problem. Also I find that the side fan obstructs your viewing pleasure, why spend so much time and effort with everything and then hide it with an ugly fan. If you have good temps. you may want to remove it to.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • i got to say. your idea about having a lights under the case will be very slick. It will be hard though coz i would imagine, that it may emit too much light and be a tad harsh. just some food for thought though.

  • Yeah, that may be true. I will try it out before I mount and wire the cold cathode to the bottom of the case.

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • hows the ultra x3 holding up i want one cause the new x4 does not have flex cables

  • Yeah, they went away with the Flex Force cables, I'm thinking it was a cost thing, as the Flex cables must cost more. That was a pretty big selling point for me along with it being 100% modular. Will be looking more closely at other PSU's in the future. As far as the X3 I am so far very happy with it, and most of the reviews have been very favorable. Time will tell.

    LazyMan :-)

  • i have to say im jealous about the pc and the gfx

its a dream of mine to even have a gtx 260

  • Hey Zac, with XMAS coming up, you might just get that 260!

  • Awesome vid!!!

  • Thanks

  • Cool buildlog Bro!! Are there plans for watercooling in future builds?

  • Yes, this is probably temporary. Working a WC'ing design that I have not seen yet. Still in the early design phase though.

  • Looking Good

Interesting you mentioned about the sleeved zip ties. When I saw those I thought - wow, where did he get those from? And then it turns out you made them! Ok, maybe it's overkill but you have to happy with it at the end of the day otherwise it'll just bug you!

Thanks for the vids and the detailed tutorials. Keep 'em coming

  • Yeah, the best thing is that they can be reused if you need to cut the zip-tie. They slide on and off with no problem.

  • That's my plan, custom make some clips that will allow the fan to clip in.

    Thanks

    LazyMan :-)

  • I might play a game or two. but I'm really not a hardcore gamer. I play an occasional game occasionally.

  • wow great job I wish I was able to do that kinda stuff. do you do this stuff for a living or just for fun? any ways great job.

  • I'm just a hobbyist, Pipefitter/Welder by trade.

  • Looking good bro, keep it up!

  • Thank you again, Chris!

  • Good stuff man. I like the little decals you made for the fans. Nice touch.

  • Yea, had them made online at Zazzle

  • Thanks Jason for the offer, but like you said I would definitely have to mod it, not only to accommodate the Thermaltake case but to accommodate a 140mm fan.

I have a client's Antec 1200 case (which i will be starting soon) so I will take a look at it and see if it something that might work. If so I may either ask him to use one of his or take you up on that offer.

Thanks again, will be talking to you soon

    LazyMan :-)

  • awesome video

  • Thanks bro!

  • Sleeving cable ties?? you sir are most definitely hardcore! Cant wait to see the Black Widow completed. 5 *****

  • Yep! Hardcore, Trying to raise the bar!

  • damn that case is so shiny ...this is better than porn........its SOOO shiny......i wish you were sellin this .......so much perfection ...best pc EVER

  • wow, lol Thats a little descriptive man. Lets keep ur personal life outta this hehe. It is a very nice case though

  • There's nothing wrong with Geek Porn!

My wife sometimes think I would rather be working on a Mod, then working on her Bod! LOL

  • Maybe you should try and overcock her Lmao

  • As soon as I load Windows I will.

  • LOL GEEK PORN!

  • looking better every time.....please make a vid on how you mounted those switches....i am extremely jealous....ps you should check out those logisys red led case feet : )..........still jealous

  • Sure thing bro, will make a vid, give a week or so though.

  • Wow! The work you've done is really inspiring, it's so amazing I can't describe how superior black widow looks on anything I could ever even dream to do myself.

I'm really looking forward to see more of your videos. :)

  • Thanks bro, I really appreciate your kind words!

  • I honestly laughed at the sleeved zip ties. Yeah...your name just doesn't jive with me, at least as far as modding goes. Excellent job! Love it! 5/5

  • LazyMan....... Is just a nickname, not really my work ethics. I gave it to myself, when I thought I could be doing more. My excuse was always I'm just to lazy....hence LazyMan lol

  • Intake fans on the bottom is that not gonna suck up all the shit? Also presume fans on top are exhaling (Only word I can think of right now)

  • Remember heat rises, so you always want the fans on the bottom to be intake fans, taking the cool air in. and the fans on the top as exhaust fans, blowing the hot air out.

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan :-)

  • thats one sick gaming build. cant wait to see what comes next.

  • Thanks bro, got a few more thing up my sleeve.

  • lol 3rd comment for lighting i sanded my cathode tubes to make them murky just made them dim down a bit. or you could shove a resistor in them. BUT don't make the mistake i did don't extend the cathode cables ( ones from transformer to tube, tends to make them only light 1/2 the tube lol. happy building :)

  • Yeah, if you extent the cable length it will restrict the power going to the cathode causing it to half illuminate or worst, depending on how much you lengthen the cable. The best way is to lengthen the power connection if at all possible.

Also I'm sure you could mod the inverter, but that I have never tried, and don't know enough about electroncis to do such.

  • Velcro the fan down at the front. works fine only needs to be done on the bottom.

= silent easy to remove for cleaning / replacing etc... lol :P

  • I think I will just try to make some clips that mount to the bay housing and have the fan just clip in, just like a fan holder.

  • i cut my power supply cables on my HX1000w. works fine :) Screw the warranty! it's all about the look.

  • Yeah, that's what I most likely will do, just extend them myself. Try to devise a method to make the extentions them look just like the original flat cables that the Ultra X3 comes with. I thing I have a good idea, will make a vid if everything goes as planned.

  • sigh...that armor plus seems so much nicer than my armor, which I still love. Though I do hate the top thing that prevents a lot of airflow from the 90mm exhaust fan(took that plastic thing off). Wish they had better wire management on the original, especially since I don't feel like drilling it(since we don't really have that great of a drill anyways).

  • Haha i agree it looks heaps better then my normal armour im cut i did not know about the + at the time

  • Does the standard Armor come with a 90mm exhaust? the Armor plus has a 120mm e-fan. Not sure where you live, but I could mod you mobo case for you if you're interested. PM me if you are.

  • Yes to everything... I'm right there with you in modding time. Thanks for posting these vids, the last 20% of the work is seeming to take 80% of the time (kinda backwards I guess).

  • Troye, how the heck are you!. i miss your vids bro, just do a vid on mowing the lawn and I will watch. lol

Heard you moved, if you have time PM me and let me know whats been going on, and if you're ever going to movr to the bay area and become my modding partner. lol

    Talk to you soon:-)

  • you are insane! I love this build! I still have to post my videos so dont feel bad about taking long with yours. whats going in your next build?

    Jimmy

  • Hows' it going bro? Thanks for your comment! How is your build coming along?

    Your friend

    LazyMan :-)

  • its going well. i got the case all painted and assembled and i'm just waiting for my dad to buy the components. it didn't come out to good but for my first paint job its pretty good. cant wait to see your finished product. i'm gonna get my vid up next week for sure.

    jimmy

  • Yeah, painting looks so easy, but it actually is an art. A skilled art, which I personally have not mastered yet either. I just know the very basis, just enough to get me into trouble. lol

  • lol your never gunna give this system up

  • never, never, never LOL !!

  • Lazyman you are the Man. I want to be just like you when I grow up. Awesome Widow

  • hehe, I want royalties if you turn out just like me. LOL

  • You sleeved the cable ties?! Dude, your amazing, great job!!! Screw the warranty lol. 6/5*

  • Thanks bro, just something a little different, not that hard and they can be reused if you have to cut the cable tie.

  • have you drills some hole on the optical drive cage like Tjharlow did?

  • No need in this case, it has slots already in the optical drive bay housing, but if I needed to I definitely would. I had to drill several holes in my mobo tray for cable mgmt. also cut out an opening so I would have access to the retention plate on the cooler. check out my vid modding the mobo tray for cable mgmt.

  • Gon yerself Lazyman, Loving this rig and hope you finish it. BTW Have you looked at the award-winning 24In monitor from HP that CustomPC magazine gave an award to? I canny remember the exact model but check out HP's 24-incher, it supposifly wiped the floor with other models. Sam The Bam

  • will check it out, thanks for the tip. Is it a LED monitor?, don't want to buy old technology.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks

  • Looking very nice man. One thing that I would do.. idk if you are planning on this but I would sleeve the bottom fan cables all the way through the clips so that you cant see the raw wires.

  • All the fan cables need to be extended, so the sleeving presently on there will be coming off. But I do know what you mean, If you can remember I hate bare wires! with a passion!

  • haha yeah me too. also, idk if you want to go this extreme and I know you already cut holes in the motherboard tray, but it might be amazing to cut a hole directly behind the 24 pin connection on the mobo and then remove the 24 pin connection from the cable and solder each wire to the corresponding connection point on the back of the board and run the cable strait through the back.. that way you cant see any cables.

  • I'll one better that, I am designing my own mobo with the 24pin, 8pin, and the sata connectors all facing the towards the back, this way you still could disconnect the cables to remove the mobo. I have been in contact with Asus, and they said that if the liked the design they would produce a Limited Anniversary Model. However I am still in the design phase though.

As far as soldering cables to the mobo, I would highly recommend not doing that. But if you try it send me a message.

  • Wow that's sick! I have soldered a 20 and 4 pin the the back of an old old motherboard but I didn't test it to see if it would post just to see if it would power on.

  • Cool, you should do video's of these mods.

  • I know I should haha honestly I have been so busy with school I barely have time to do the reviews that I have to do for companies! as it is I have about 5 products waiting to be reviewed in my closet.

  • What kind of screws do you use to attach the case fans to the case? Like the two exhaust fans at the bottom? thx you.

  • I used regular fan screws, the self tapping type, you know the ones that come with all fans.

  • Great ideas and very innovative

  • Thanks!

  • Great vid, I love the sleeved zip-ties! That's awesome. Just hope you don't have to cut those things so you have to sleeve it again, but it doesn't sound so bad to re-do. The look you get with that totally makes it worth it, IMO.

Man, you sounded like you're running out of steam at the end of the video. LOL! Hopefully you got some good rest this weekend!

  • Actually the sleeving on the zip-ties is re-usable, it slides on and off, so if you need to cut the zip-tie you can reuse it on the next zip-tie, as long as it is the right length.

Very little rest, but I know work isn't going to be so grueling for a while, so I think I will be fine.

  • Oh yeah, that makes sense! Duh! Okay, hope to talk to you soon bro.

  • beautiful system :P

  • Thanks Gaz!

  • WOW! Black Widow is going to be so AWESOME when U finish it! I'm just happy to be part of the viewing of the upgrades/mods to Black Widow! Keep those AWESOME vids coming! 5/5

  • Thanks Marland, you must have seen every computer related vid on YT. I see you everywhere. lol

    Cheers bro

    LazyMan :-)

  • I do like my YOUTUBE! I really enjoy watching vids of PC's since I know so little about them myself! If I were to ever try some of your mods; I'd probably blow up my PC! That's why I enjoy watching and atleast learning more about computers! Keep those vids coming for us NOOBS and people to SCARED to try it themselves!

  • Yes Sir, I will keep making vids, as long as you keep watching them!
