She's a beaut. And so easy with the water lol, guess I made that mistake with one or two rats, didn't water train them, just gave em a slight bath and held them when they needed it. (nothing aggressive of course)

My first rat absolutely loved bathtime. Although it might have been partially because baths meant attention. He was the sweetest thing; a little buddha-rat. So completely content and happy and loving. I have never before nor since recieved such complete and unconditional love from any animal or human that I've come across.

Medora is completely adorable, by the way. What an imaginative and wonderful way of getting your rats to like water. :D

I never forced any of my rats to play with water, it was always their own decision. I only showed them that they could find treats in it. ;)

That's amazing! I can't get my rat to take a bath without him shredding up my skin trying to get away! How did you get her to like the water?

I never ever forced any of my rats. They could always choose themselves. At the beginning I just held a treat directly over the water. Then with the time I put it under the water, but veeeeeryyy close to the air. With the time they learned they get treats when going underwater and now they use EVERY water they can find for diving for treats.

NEVER one! That is unfair for rats, they always always always need a partner. And this partner MUST be another rat. Nothing speaks against two rats though, or better even three. :)

You should never force them. Put some of their favourite food in the water and show them that there´s food inside it. Give them some time and always allow them to decide themselves, nor forcing ever. Then they easily get used to water.
