Roger Federer -- 2007 / 2010 Comparison

It's true he was better back in 2007, but for me federer's best season was 2005. Even though he won "only" 2 slams and lost to Nalbandian at the tour finals, he was truly unstoppable at some point. He played aggressive all-court tennis and he literally hit forehand winners at will. After that he was influenced by Nadal and started playing more defensively with more topspin and was never the same.

you can see his speed in the TMC 2007. he's not that quick anymore. his shot making is the same, but perhaps with less power now and more height above the net.

but to be fair to other humans (federer of today included), that match against Ferrer at the TMC 2007 was out of this world tennis. That's more than good form/being on that day/'finding' the lines/purple patch/ whatever superlative phrases you have. laid the poor spaniard to waste

I always watch this video before I have a match because Fed's play inspires me and reminds me of technical things I have to remember but even more importantly the music in this vid gets me SO pumped up lol. I can't think of any song I've ever heard in any genre that gets me quite as hyped and ready to compete as this.
