Loved the vid. Coincidentally, I just ordered some of these myself. Curious to see how the re-basing will go. The human genetic, morph lab idea sounds like big fun.
The Mantic miniatures are true 28mm scale, that is why thy are so thin BTW. Also the zombies and the ghouls are interchangeable so they are mix and match! Hope that helps.
Oh those are truly hideous miniatures, just the kind of hellish nightmare entities that have come from a dark realm or spawned from some apocalyptic outbreak. I think they blend nicely into a styled theme, everything from infections to ending up as biogloop writhing mass of eww. Great idea.
The figs are awesome and I like the idea of taking it to a scifi horror feel. As far as the rules I plan on using 4th edition DND rules for the combat. They are very streamlined and exciting for encounters. I got my hands on a new Campaidn setting call Amethyst for modern classes for the 4th edition which I have started to build charcaters for already
@davidi69 Ya D&D figs work REAL WELL for horror as well and they have a rules set built right in:) Right up your gun rules and your off and running:)!!!
Yeah man! Great to hear the concept. Post apocalyptic holocausts can be fun!
We need to prove this ;) I'd love to see any rules and/or work in progress you come up with. Always look forward to watching your videos!
Good to know you've realised the possible uses for Mantic Games figures and those minis you have there are awesome! I'll be looking into those myself!
Some of these would make a pretty good bunch of minions for a Pulp City game. I think I spotted a few that would even make good proxies for an AE-Bounty game. Genetic nightmare creatures are very cool. I always though dreamblade minis had a Parasite Eve feel to them. I'll have to scout online for some and even bug my FLGS. He has some Dreamblade minis tucked away somewhere I think. Thanks for the cool idea!
Sounds like an interesting project. Those Dreamblade miniatures paint up really nicely as they're loaded with lots of detail. I've got to say though before you start chopping them off their bases do consider getting the Dreamblade rulebook and playing the actual game because it's one of the best games I've ever played. If you like chess or abstract games in general it's a highly enjoyable and deep game and extremely cheap to start playing. I was absolutely gutted when they cancelled it.
Yeesh! Does your mind go a 100 miles per hours all the time!? LOL When I watching the beginning I was like "What a minute, they are 28mm firgure!" Thanks for clarifying! :)
Those minis are really sweet looking bro. I am thinking of using some mantic miniatures to help get me a undead army for fantasy going. Its good to know they are 28m So thanks for the vid bro and hope you and your fam are doing well.
@FiveStarRating22 Your welcome Buddy!!!! We're all in this together. BTW they are MUCH cheaper than GW from what I can see but don't forget to check ebay Mega deals are there all the time:)
@terrainaholic You can also pick up some good deals at ebay by searching for misspellings too. I picked up a couple hundred dollars worth of mint Star Wars Starship Battle minis for less than $50 last year because they misspelled "starship". Not only do they proxy into Battlefleet Gothic really well, but selling just two Star Destroyers paid for the whole lot. ^_^
if you would post videos of your games of this story....that would be EPIC in my book. I'd love to rerun this with my playgroup if possible, after watching you play it.
Yeah I believe mantic's stuff is just regular 28mm, not 28mm "heroic". Zombie apocalyse games are cool! I've been wanting to do one myself. You should check out wargames factory's zombie range as well. They're real nice 28mm models.
I would definitely be interested in a zombie apocalypse ruleset. I've been looking at making a zombie themed tabletop RPG engine based loosely off of D20 Modern, and playing out some tabletop battles would really help me to flesh out the world's backstory.
Kind of reminds me of the old D&D shambling mounds, except a lot more ooey and gooey! I don't know...I think your just going to have to nuke it from space...it's the only way to be sure :)...creative thinking, as always buddy...Jim.
I think this would be awesome of you coming up with rules. I would love to get into something like this.. a zombie set up! Specaily at this scale. It would would with my buildings I have made already. I love the models you just picked up. Your concept and take on them is believable, realistic. Go for it bud! You will be amazed how many are on your mind set. There alot of 'zombie' fans. (myself included) :)
I would LOVE for someone to make a zombie apoc game I have been meaning to make one. Here is what I have come up with: Space marines are guys in power armor. Dreadnought is a walking tank(i made mine look like orks built it aka scavengers) and terminators are kinda like power armor mk2. zombies i have not come up with yet I was hoping for imperial guard without weapons looking zombified. I will definatley favorite this video and maybe we can work something out together :D.
i really am interested in the zombie apocalypse idea. also i gotta ask what happened with the order u were gonna make from that one site, with the huge amount of zombies and shock troopers?
i cant wait for the rules, they will be sweet

I think the idea of making your own set of rules is great. It might take a lot of work though.
The minis are great but I think the base is kinda too thick, but it can always be removed and glue on another one, right?
