I remember watching this in TV at 11PM and I have to wake up 5AM for school. I almost chocked myself watching this match, EVERY match of Sharapova in RG 2009 rather. And I died when she faced Cibulkova. LOL?
5 slam finals to 2, 3 slams to 1, sharapova has beaten serena, capriati, venus, henin, davenport, kuznetsova ,jankovic, ivanovic and wozniacki. and is mentally stronger than li na.
@lg123xyz and living there or not, there wouldn't be anything significant changes except her intimate connection with the country people. what could she have done if she was there? would be still the same: going to courts, practicing, resting, and touring around the world as much as li na's daily activities..i doubt even li na, living in her home country, would go out and meet with youngsters..your accusation of her not being there is just ridiculous
@lg123xyz tha'ts what i meant by 'you have no background knowledge about her'..china has become an industrialized country now in large cities, but does it mean every area of it is improving? NO..russia back then of course was the leader in space ship vicinity but does it necessarily mean every area of it has affordability and facility to have amenities? oops..and maria was around a chernobyl nuclear affected area and you can imagine the life here..now stfu..you are making yourself an idiot
@lg123xyz communist country? in sports, there is hardly anything to do with political ideas. and as much as li na has inspired a bunch of youngsters in china, SO HAS maria, who won her first GS at 17...btw, where was li na when she was 17? just curious
@kelvinpyaeko Li Na still has a RG trophy hanging on her mantel and didn't want to win every single title, you have to leave some for the peasants once in a while.
Sweet, sweet revenge for Li Na this year. I remember this match when Maria took a bathroom break to stop Li's momentum, and her fans dare to say she doesn't cheat.
No career GS for this arrogant player and her fans.
@forcemajeur08 LOL..to stop momentum? how would you know her bladder condition, you idiot? but at the end of the day, poor lina would have to stay content with that one little RG title. good
@kelvinpyaeko You are a little troll aren't you. I retract my apology and say this: You can go **** yourself if you think Maria didn't cheat in this match and a stupid one too.
I was watching this match live you dummy so I know she did that on purpose. She did that too against Golovin in 2006 just when Tatiana was about to claw her way into the match.
@forcemajeur08 A troll is someone who go around on YT like a boastful typical lina fan and diss other artists to annoy her fan base. i never do that. maria is one of my favorite players and i am simply here to watch her match again and found your lame ass comment. #FAIL and i am not mad! she has proved enough to some extent that she is a good player. and simply here to watch her match and comment back OR dissing someone; which one is reasonable? come back and tell me
@kelvinpyaeko Yeah me too I don't do that. I didn't watch this match just so I can diss Maria, but I love Li Na and it just makes sense to watch her videos as a Li fan don't you think?
I don't go at every Maria video just to make an excuse to vilify her but there's a little something called freedom of speech and were entitled to say whatever as long as it's based on facts and not just outright slandering.
@forcemajeur08 but how could you know it's factual points that she went for a break deliberately to stop momentum? they ain't men, dude. GIRLS. you know they have a lot more reasons other than just to do No2 when they go for bathroom breaks. i don't wanna be explicit, but think about it.
@kelvinpyaeko Yes, you have a point but the timing of her bathroom breaks are suspect. Like I said, just when an opponent is about to get the upper hand on her, this match and against Golovin in particular, she gets a well-timed bathroom break. Really? At that point of the match? I mean come on. Even a 15 year old kid can understand that she is trying to disrupt her opponents rhythm. How much more for a tennis fan like me who has been following the sport for 11 years now?
@forcemajeur08 uhm, not really. if that could be her a sneaky cheat to win over matches, she would have cheated in that way more often that the total mere 2 matches you mentioned throughout her whole 10 year career. you never know!
The last minute of the game is crucial and Li Na shows her honesty by reversing the call for a "Fault." That's amazing and Maria just got a chance to win it. But this year, 2011 nobody can stop her for the title. Let's hope she will get the Grand Slams, too.
This was RG 2 years ago. They had a close match then. This year Li Na obviously surpasses Sharapova in both techniques and mental strength. From now on, I’ll see Li beat Sharapova in every match they ever meet until either one retires from competition. Come to meet the new Grand Slam champion Li Na from China. #LOL
@Matty0288 You sound stupid. That would be an option if Sharapova was playing against Sharapova, but since she's not the only person on the court that doesn't make sense. Maybe the other person sharapova is playing is who they want to watch. It ain't all about her. She just needs to shut her squaking ass up when playing.
@twarren20 and it's funny that you are a die hard williams sister fanatic. do you have deaf ears or are you biased enough to ignore williams sisters squeaks, shriek, screams, grunts as well? hypocrisy much?
Its so funny to see Li's coach cheering for her here when he's now Maria's coach :)
I really love the way Maria fought these matches at the French. In the Quarters she was tired and almost got double bageled but still amazing effort from her :)
@ilovepoo122 Please... that racket didn't give her shit. You gave herself a shoulder injury from trying to blast the ball on every point with arms that look like stick figures. I hate when players blame anything but themselves for their injuries like they are the only ones using that equipment. If that racket was creating injuries, don't you think that more players and complaints would be out? She had bad mechanics.
Well, three weeks later Li Na is a Grand Slam finalist, and I hope champion. She plays Clijsters in the Australian Open final this Saturday. By the way, Li's forehand at 3:32 is breathtaking. The pop and zing of her shot reminds me of how cleanly Lindsay Davenport hit the ball. What I love about Li is that she hits cleanly on almost every shot.
@kinglear It's true. It's just so fluid, and clean, I always loved Li Na (from about 2005); and just when she was at her best, she always had an injury. Who knows, she might already have got a Grand Slam. But I'm glad Kim won the Australian Open, she had been close before, and now she finally has it. Now I don't care anymore how many slams she wins (or not), for me, her career is complete. I hope Li wins Wimbledon, or the US Open.
@ilovepoo122 I was talking about the past and being a CONSISTENT top 10 player, from like 2006 (when she made the Wimbledon quarters against Clijsters) till now.
3:56 i was actually confused to see thomas beside li's husband..and i remember this was just in 2009
