  • this is the saddest song ive ever heard....and i listen to alot of music

  • Now I'm sure I'm a bird dreaming I am a human.

  • Deep and beautiful the way a masterpiece should be. Thanks for posting.

  • One of the best, ever!!

  • Five people have never circled the blue fields and greased the night x

  • What makes rock important? You could go to Elvis..."Power of My Love," reeks of sex. Lennon's "Mother" haunting childhood. Jim Morrison's "The End," gripping. Jagger's "Gimme Shelter," wow. Bruce's "Born to Run" -- the heart of what it should be. Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone," masterful. But rock & roll in a serious artistic sense: sad, ugly, affectionate, blood & guts intelligent, mother of vinegar poetry, sweet wrenching truth & passion - Patti Smith...you stand alone baby. Incredible.

  • She has the same voice as Charlie the unicorn :)

  • Thankyou for this...it's really great, the amount of drivel in cyberland...this makes a refreshing change....long live Patti,if ever there was a strong role model to young girls it's her for sure....I'm 43+I first bought Horses when I was 13..blew me away..she stil does......peace Sophie xx

  • Brilliant. A dream within a dream within a dream.

  • I can't find any words.

    Thank you Intergalaxy

  • live patti, live!!!! thank you very much intergalaxi! bkD

  • really nice job Intergalaxy - great song and great vid!

  • Man this a fucking master piece.. thanks Patti you are my Goddness.

  • Amazing! She is such an artist to be able to put that emotion into words. I went to lyricsfreak to research her . Wow

  • For you newer fans if you want to know the exact lyrics to this and all her great songs go lyricsfreak click on p and patti smith all her tunes can be found there.

  • Best female singer on planet Earth of all times!!

  • Im actually pissed that i had to stumble arcoss this...she should be FAAAAAAAAAAAAAR more famous than she is..this shit is legendary

  • @PeZYBeats

She IS pretty famous. Aside from the philistines, most people (not just music aficionados) know who she is, whether they admire her or not.

  • @pdorn777

Yes, maybe the truth is too painful. T.S. Eliot once said that most people cannot handle much reality.

  • One of the best ever...

  • DONNA FANTASTICA E SUBLIME...

  • thanks to Patti for remembering the remarkable Wilhelm Reich in this song and the torture he endured outside of society.

  • this reminds me a lot of the velvet underground

  • this song is a fucking masterpice

  • she captures the emotional essence of a book of dreams perfectly

  • @yeahyeahyaha2 - I would recommend Easter. Radio Ethiopia has the uncharted wilderness of Birdland, but Easter has some really intense poetry; namely Space Monkey.

  • very powerfull, deep. immortal...

  • Thank you ... well embraced ... Love Petty ...she is amazing ....

  • In this song, her voice makes me feel like I should be writhing around on the floor in pain. You know an artist is good when their tonal inflection makes you understand the feeling they are trying to express, the words (although beautifully written) don't seem to matter because her voice just makes you feel so raw and vulnerable. Man, Patti Smith is so fucking awesome :)

  • @briot13

    Definitely.

It takes very few words when they are that meaningful and delivered with that much intensity.

Fucking waves of energy tearing you apart.

  • i love women like this, out ofsight i am pended .......go fuck yourself

  • i love women like this,out ofsight

  • Loved this song for 15 years now... as I grow the song gets better and better. Wow, an artist you grow "into" not "out of"!!

  • The soundtrack of my life.

  • Super.

  • Intergalaxy

    WONDERFUL

    thamk you

  • She is such a grea

  • "Just kids"

  • I swear I want this song played on my deathbed. " It's as if someone had spread butter on all the fine points of the stars because when he looked up they suddenly started slip" Genius.

  • ..."shaman do wop, so shaman do way..." ( segui lo sciamano, rincorri la sua luce, fa' quello che ti dice..)

  • "I'll give you my eyes, take me up, oh now please take me up"

    i love you patti

  • Oh, a little history lesson here in case you didn't know. Smith wrote this after reading A Book of Dreams by Peter Reich. The book was about his father the scientist Wilhelm Reich. Kate Bush also wrote Cloudbusting after reading the same book. It is out of print now and hard to find.

  • Wow, a deam inside a nightmare.

    Incredible!

    nedthetoothpick*com

  • If I had only one song to take to the moon with me this would be it.

  • ya know, Michael Stipe was quoted as saying the same thing.

    ~right on !

  • Always my favorite Patti piece. " I'll give you my eyes / take me up. " " Her sons, no longer presidents but prophets. They no longer dream they're going to bare the president but the prophet ". Beautiful, raw emotion. Thank you Patti for being a moving force in my life.

  • Thank you so much for this!!

  • Awesome song then and now thank you !!

  • I luv this song...

  • don't kill me but she kinda looks like a dude

  • yep, but it's ok.

  • never gets old

  • Horses was the first album i ever bought.

    Brash's . Bendigo. 1978. Aged 15.

...this album evokes for me more memories and conjures more images than any drug ever could

intoxicating hypnotic exhilarating and deeply personal Patti Smith is pure indulgence

  • I just discover Patti Smith and I love her music!!

  • I was asked today what my favourite album of alltime was!

    Patti Smith - Horses!

I'm normally an R'n'B/Hip hop fan but this has to be the greatest voice and lyrics of all time. HAS TO BE!

  • divine.....<3

  • NICE JOB!

  • que mujeron

    nadie como patti smith

    esto si es rock

  • This is a psychotic song, and everything from 3:39 to about 6:45 is simply other-worldly. My God, she really outdid herself on this one. This is beyond music.

  • wonderful pictures for wonderful song...

    wonderful woman !

  • her best song, wonderful

  • This album is the greatest mixing of pure poetry with music ever, especially this song.

"like like like Muhammed boxer." Amazing!!

  • This & Horses I think are my favourite tracks! Honesty never goes out of style

  • "land 1975-2002" ...

you should get it if you're new to patti smith, it has lots of fantastic songs on a two disc set.

  • That's how I started, plus I got "Patti Smith Complete", her book/ discography.

I really had a head start!

  • I think where her greatness lay was in having no fear. she made music for herself as all the great musicians do from bach to animal collective.

  • WOW ! - Awesome vid !

    Thank you !

  • I was on her concert this year, I´ve never seen better musician and singer ...

    long life.

  • brilliant!

  • @yeahyeahyaha2 I really like Easter, its a little bit harder than her other stuff :)

  • @yeahyeahyaha2 Gloria, rock'n roll nigger and about a boy are good songs.

  • @yeahyeahyaha2 the excellent "7" by s-club 7. Awesome, moving & deep as a well.

  • Beautifully done! The 1 and only Patti.

  • oh patti...

  • shadow do wah shadow do wah - breathless art

  • I'm in love, too

  • I'm in love with this woman

  • Reminds me of PJ Harvey. Even though she claims to have never really listened to Patti Smith.

  • What`s the song of Patti Smith about the indians?

  • 'Ghost Dance', I would imagine (I don't mean to sound sarky, but you could be thinking of a different song altogether).

  • Its actually called "Im singing about indians" by: La de da

  • Interesting,a calling to the spirit, basic begining....U should try a tune w/ John Tru du l,Really like ur songs.Soon to post ur poem,Peace. keep on,keep on........

  • Jesus...

  • I could never stop listening to this song and it still wouldn't be long enough. Thank you, Patti, for all the incredible everything.

  • The lyrics are insane. Pure, insane, poetry.

  • definitely not to be passed by

  • also mind tom verlaine, people! one of best guitarplayers ever. check his band television and listen to "torn curtains"

  • i have to say, i think richard lloyd is a better guitar player, but it's hard to tell who plays what sometimes.

  • i luv Patti smith...You Rock!!!!!!!

  • Remarkable. The music is so perfect, strong, and building on itself, it is almost too much to watch the video at the same time. However, the balance is challenging to accomodate and rewarding. Thank you for creating this wonderful tribute.

  • yes... just yes!

  • ...Robert Mapplethorpe...

  • Beam me up, Patti!

    Fantastic - XXXX Mariann, 1997

  • Thanks for posting this...5*****'s! Absolutely one of my all-time favorite songs, it was this and "Piss Factory' that were the ones that really pushed her over for me as an artist to be reckoned with. A lifelong fan, now.

  • Can't better this comment. Love this song. Love Patti.

  • This is such a gut-wrenching track. This song has accompanied me through various deaths in my life. It accompanies me if I commit suicide - it speaks of letting go of life.

  • one of the greatest artists of the 20th century...I remeber my dad playing her music in 70s...and he's Jamaican...she transends...like all genius...like the godess she is...an honour just to close your eyes and listen to her

  • Doesn't get much better than this

    Amzing-Awesome- Wanderful..... video........

  • Yo te amo Patti

  • This song was inspired by a passage from Peter Reich's "Book of Dreams". His father Wilhelm Reich had died, and during a family gathering he thought he saw the lights of a spaceship. He thought his father was at the helm. But despite his cries, the light vanished into the night sky as Peter lay on the grass, weeping beneath the stars.
