The Fairie Round was among the pieces of music chosen to represent human culture on the spaceships Voyager 1 and 2 in 1977. This is a fine, flowing performance that lets the tune sing and "swing" as it should. Dowland paid homage to fellow courtier Holborne, but sadly not much is known about him. For a touch of divine melancholy, listen to "Contess of Pembrook's Paradise."
ya they hurt my fingers just go to a music store and buy some light gauge classical nylon strings and put them on the guitar. they sound suprisingly better.
is this guy considered a great player? I need him in a new film that is being made and will air on CBC

It's strange how such a short and peculiar sound (compared to a guitar) can be filled with so much lust and playfulness! I love it.

Beautiful tone.

Beautifully played, as always. This lute has a slightly "banjo" like tone to it, but very pleasant.

Then buy a classic nylon-stringed guitar! They are great to play renaissance music on.

Gut string is made from goat intestine and nylon is a synthetic polymer.

what king of strings or thease called?
hardcorechicano 3 years ago
Perhaps its gut, though its much more likely to be nylon or some kind of plastic.
