  • @Eternal Dragon

Yup, its essentially the same thing, just with a different feel

  • Does anyone else notice the riff at 0:15 bears a slight resemblance to the one in "Domination" by Pantera? (and no, I don't mean maiden ripped it off, as obviously this song came first) I only heard this song for the first time today, Maiden has fast become one of my favourite metal bands, I feel ashamed it took me so long to recognize their great talent

  • @19Stratman69

I was in the 9th grade ( I'm 40 now .) when Somewhere In Time hit , and it was my first and favorite Maiden album . It gets bashed for containing some synth , but I think people are splitting hairs ten ways when they mention that .

  • Happy birthday, Adrian!

  • adrian smith is a a living legend..great songwriter great guitarist and so low profile person..when he took his space in the band from ''powerslave'' and after he showed his huge talent, especially at this album...dave's a great guitarist too,but i thin adrian is a music genius..maiden missed him a lot in ''no prayer for the dying''..as a matter of fact i think bruce got his -leaving maiden-thoughts,when adrian left..my god..what a band...MAIDEN FOR LIFE...I GREW UP WITH THESE GUYS...THANX MAIDEN

  • One of the most underated Maiden songs of all time!

  • yeap...

  • 1 persn perfers streams of sanity

  • @shazzbot007

oh, by the way, I'm no "yank". I just speak English as well as my native language. And I'm much more European than you. Greetings from the Mediterranean,

  • @shazzbot007

please do not offend. I have said or done nothing to deserve being called "dickhead". If that's your way of answering anyone who you might think disagrees with you, than you must be:

    a) very very young and without manners

    b) very childish and immature

I won't spend any more time replying to such therads. Now kindly apologise.

  • there is always one punk to dislike

  • there is always one punk to dislike

  • wouldn't it be amusing if someone from maiden actually commented on their own songs here?

  • The Bass sound on this song is so raw, ROCKING! When all you do can bring you sadness.

  • Has anyone tried to figure out what is thi sng really about? I think iI got it: "Escape from New York". Verse by verse , it makes sense.

We all know Harris got his inspiration from movies and books...

  • @K4l4mburg0 @K4l4mburg0 Actually this song was written by Adrian (both the lyrics and music).

"It seems that the "Sea of Madness" is some sort of metaphor of the current state of Mankind... Fires are burning, people cry, and the character describing all this simply turns his back and leaves. Confronted to so much violence and misery, it is sometimes hard to do anything at all and the best is sometimes quite simply to walk away from it all..."

  • @Razor745

Everything you say is true, without any doubt. I agree. But over the years , and having listened to a lot of authors (I'm referring to "masters" of lyrics, such as Dylan, Cohen, Waits, De Andre...), I find Iron Maiden's (mainly, Harris's) songwriting a little too banal, too ...how should I say, it's like when a teenager writes his first poem. I don't think it's bad, just that it has that "first try" feel.

And again, metaphores and atributes aside, it's still "Escape from NY". :)

  • @K4l4mburg0 Really? Maiden are the best lyricists on trhe planet today, just one listen to Starblind will assure you that. for instance: what is it the real message of Flight of Icarus? because some lines i.e: "in the name of god my father i'll fly" seem to be more about relgion than mythology

  • @14BlazingBlue religion is the root of all evil. think about it...

  • @Antonius17 worked that one out a while ago mate

  • @K4l4mburg0 mate, can you tell me some of the song whose lyrics you refer to "masters" of lyrics? I'm courious to hear how they're like, never heard somethin' better than Harris's lyrics and the band's master touch.

  • @Flamekoro666

Well, for instance: BOB DYLAN. LEONARD COHEN. TOM WAITS FRANK ZAPPA. FABRIZIO DE ANDRE. I'm sure you've heard of at least some of them.here's a couple great songs:

TOM WAITS - "Black Wings", "What's he building in there?" , "Frank's Wild years", "Shore Leave", "Downtown train" , "I don't wanna grow up" ...

BOB DYLAN - "MAsters of war" "All along the watchtower", "Maggie's farm " "A-hard rain's gonna fall "

    LEONARD COHEN "The partisan"...

NOT heavy metal. But powerfull as ever.

  • @K4l4mburg0 thanks mate, i started listening the songs you gave me, the lyrics sure are beautiful in their own way, i surely recomand those to all music lovers.

  • @Flamekoro666

I'm glad you like them. This is only 0,001% . There's a lot of beautiful and powerfull stuff out there. And if you love to laugh, I certainly reccomend FRANK ZAPPA. It's best that you start with his compilation "STRICTLY COMMERCIAL". Great music, quirky lyrics, crazy & brilliant man. Cheers!

  • @Razor745 NA THE MONKEYS JUST GONE LOONEY TUNE BIG TIME

  • @Razor745 walk away into the madness

  • @Razor745 I think its more about a depressed state of mind that we all get into sometimes. Where we can see that a relationship that could develop into something great right in front of you, but you just cannot 'believe' enough to act on it. - So you walk away. (heart is heavy as I turn my back and leave)

  • @Razor745

its actually about the riots in london in the 80's.

I say SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!! You're not fucking helping by re-posting those stupid comments, they only infect beautiful videos by mentioning shit music.

WE CAN KILL THE INFECTIONS BY KILLING THE COMMENTS!

We all know it, you don't have to copy and paste comments about it to keep it alive.

(it's kinda like scratching chicken pox, just leave them alone and they'll heal)

  • At 2:28-2:52 is Out of the Silent Planet & Dream of Mirrors, amazing 15 years later 2 more great songs came from this song

  • This is pure Maiden but mixed with a sludgier bass and guitar tone...completely different from the rest but equally amazing

  • masterpiece album but very underrated-their best ever made. i dont know the reason they didnt put the spirit of it in other albums- except seventh son. mybe each great band at last has one-two masterpiece albums to become like that and then the others are just good. mybe i m too keen on 80s and i was 14 when the album came out.
