They are not loud in person, at my junior high school we had them in the building excluding the portables and gym, and the first fire drill there i happened to be position underneath it when it when it went off and to my surprise my ear drums didn't bleed to death to my surprise, and even during a different fire drill when i was in the weight room during PE there are three of them because of its size and my ears didn't bleed to death then either which is why i like it b/c it is easy on the ears.

yeah, i've een seen stuff like an EST Genesis outside, which is stupid because, again, no weatherproof versions of them exist.(there's no such thing as a WATERproof alarm, dude. if there was, they'd be in a pool.)

My School just installed those in both the halways and the rooms. OMG! they are freaking loud. it just went off last wednesday August 13, 2008, while all the seniors were trying on their uniforms. hold the crews told us to evecuate the building but the other half told us not to. we jsut stayed untill the fire department told us to leave the building. i hated it, but the state forced the school to change because the old system was failing too much.

hey, i just got one of these. it doesn't have chime, only the Commander 3 does. the Commander 4(GCC4)'s tones are

-Mech. code 3

-Mech continuous

-2400hz code 3

-2400hz continuous

just wanted to get that straight, i read the manual from my new GCC4, same color. and, btw, usairways, your cuz had the alarm up-side down.
