  • I've had them all including BB OS, Symbian UIQ, S60, Android, iOS, and Maemo and now at last tomorrow I'll be a proud owner of the MeeGo N9. It's just the next natural step on the hardware and software evolutionary lather. With HTML5 and Tizen, there sure is a future for the N9; THE FUTURE!

  • And be nice

  • Get a ...L.I.F.E...

  • I love this phone...maybe it will catch on in the US

  • Nokia is back.. Deal with it.

  • hate it when people call it Windows Mobile. Windows Mobile is completely different. :(

  • Former Microsoft guy Elop placed as the CEO of Nokia, and surprisingly they kill Meego and go for Windows phone.

The guy was a fucking Trojan horse I say, at last Nokia was dumping that horrific shit we know as Symbian in favor for something that was not damaged goods from the getgo.

  • LOL, angry Nokia fanboys.u

  • NOT Windows Mobile. It's Windows PHONE.

  • @MickDeRaad :)

  • Get a lumia the look very similar I have a Nokia lumia myself there amazing

  • i recently purchesed this handset, one week later i returned it, it's indeed a amazing piece of equipment, but its OS leaves a lot to be desired, the nokia market is very limited, it didnt have many of the apps i use like skype, messenger, nimbuzz etc, the front camera does not work, it only supports micro sim cards, amazing hardware, outdated software

  • i wonder if samsung or apple who paid for this shitt..or probably both!

  • i got a lumia 800....

  • Hello fanboys

i just got a N9 for a present and i have to say, the app store sucks

not enough apps are on it, and the ones that are don't really hold up

can't wait till alien dalvik brings android apps to it though

love the hardware, the software, well, is a little too soft

  • I have both a Nokia N9, and an Apple iPhone 4. I use my iP4 more...but I LOVE my N9 more. The Nokia N900 missed the "shine" share as well, but still an amazing device. The thing is, the SOCIAL aspect of our lives has changed so much, that the attention the N9 (or even the N900) needs will be more of a strain than a benefit to the company...but that's why, as will ANY device...the best outcomes for devices on any OS/platform will come from the USERS.

  • I bought the Nokia N9. I think its a great phone. I have it almost two months now. If you want a smartphone and you consider the Nokia N9 then you wont be dissappointed.

  • xölpshd

  • This is a really crappy review

  • There was nothing actually wrong with the review. The reviewer doesn't say that Nokia phones suck, just that the N9, with it's relatively unknown OS, cannot possibly compete against Apple's iOS and Google's Android. As the reviewer said: The N9 is a very beautiful and powerful device, unfortunately it entered the smartphone market a little too late to actually make a difference.

  • @WinterGale true. though meego looks nice. his device with windows phone would be more successful.

also, everyone who is hating this review probably didnt even watch it. he never insults the phone..if anything he was glorifying it. he just stated the obvious: the device will never get the shine it deserves..

  • it's "windows PHONE"! , not "mobile". Jesus reviewers...get your facts str8

  • Fuck you bet your first phone is a motorolla talkabout you dick. Stop being jealous of this good phone.

  • Some of the best phones I've ever owned have been Nokia phones. Never broke, crashed or froze. I'd definitely get a N9..

  • These Nokia-WP7 haters are just nuts, they're stuck in a rut and refuse to believe than a company can change. Let's get one thing straight - Nokia have NEVER produced poor hardware, it's always been dodgy software - and now that's changed. Get down to a mobile shop and play with a Lumia 800, it's quick and capable and growing fast

  • oh man i would be so happy to get my hands on a Nokia Android! god damn it

  • nokia was so wrong to start with windows, by doing that they committed suicide

  • It looks just like the Nokia Lumia 800...

  • 1st time i watched this video, i was completly against it, i was even on of the 200 dislikers, but after some research, and trying out phones in store, this guy is actually right, nokia n9 is all looks, thats why everyone wants it, hell it made other phones look like 1990 bricks, but meego is just a horrid fail, its boring, has no swifty anmations when navigating around the phone, apart from the slides which i got over after 30 mins, nokia should of shoved a duel core in this + andoid= success

  • Nokia changed direction after it changed CEO (its former CEO brought Nokia to the brand's greatest glory during 1990s/early 2000 years but failed to update the brand thereafter thus losing its competitiveness in the phone market, and drop in shares).

The change in direction is good.

Nokia has always been known to me as being highly durable and resistant to falls (lol) and their metallic-finished shells/simple but classy designs.

I really like the Nokia N9. Applause for them.

  • Damn iFags

  • @1andriuxa Just like u said ... iFags ;)

  • THE PHONE IS UGLY!!!

  • @allosvenne Your mom was what in bed? Oh cool.

  • ONCE IN A LIFE TIME PHONE

  • Nokia was really never that good anyway. :-/

  • Why would a device with free global maps, standalone GPS sat-nav, HTML5, great camera, video, social apps, speedy overall performance and a bunch of other stuff be "doomed"? This phone does a lot of cool things out of the box. It won't be hurt by the future direction of the OS. I've owned iPhone and Android, and after awhile you realise it's better to play games on bigger screens and not look at the phone all day. The ENTIRE HTML5 INTERNET can be explored on the N9. Web apps etc - future proof.

  • I have this phone and its simply awesome. both with it's looks and functionality.

  • it's such a gorgeous phone!!

  • The king's back! i'm pretty sure that once this phone hits my country, i'm gonna get it! i mean...who wants to have 500,000 apps to download when you usually uses at most 4 or 5? Nokia rules!

  • @yehohanan66 not really I'm always looking for new apps to help me with my business.

If Nokia doesn't adapt android then it will keep falling behind.

  • @michael9678727 Well, that's your particular case, in my case, i just need a device with high quality media player and the possibility to comunicate myself with friends, relatives... etc. For my business matters i have my laptop, in which i work way better than in a smartphone. NOKIA RULEZ!!!period.

  • @michael9678727 Besides, this phone it's gonna be known in the US as Lumia 700 which runs the Windows mobile OS.

  • @yehohanan66 More like meego rules, but nokia is a true dissapointment.

  • Just spoke to Bel company in Belgium - these are selling like hotcakes, even though bel company are importing them and selling the 16GB version at an inflated €599. Doomed? Destined to be a classic.

  • With the lack of the plethora of apps Google and Apple platforms have to offer, Nokia phones essentially aren't smart. Maemo showed great promise but Meego...... It's "perfect" fluidity is satisfying but it doesn't go any further beyond that.

  • @chongweixuan96 These phones are not for average "Dont know how" users who only buy phone because it connects to some app store selling 50 cent useless junk app.

  • Nokia lumia 900

  • Comment removed

  • I personally love the look of the N9, but I'll wait till they release it in Windows to buy it.

  • this is opinion. and this is good opinion. several points made earlier in the video about how nokia has stumbled about and killed the maemo is very true.

  • @firzennet

Sure.. It was Silly! But look at the N9!! Its fantastic!! It's a massive step for Nokia.

  • Nokia n9 users got an update 2 their firmware. So meego won't be dead..

  • This could have been one of the best things ever. At least we got a physical, tangible, usable glimpse of a world where open source and an open development model produce truly innovative products for mobile users, emphasizing its strengths.

It's sad that it may be a very long time before we get another chance like this. In fact, we may have missed the train entirely so far as consumers are concerned. Apparently the traditional approach isn't working, even with attention from tech giants.

  • Dude, the n950 is the successor to the n900 bot the n9.

  • UUUUUUGGGGLLLYYY

  • nokia has not said at any point that they would drop meego.. that false information.

  • *blur*

  • fag

  • take suicide!!!!!

  • You are afraid that Nokia would sucseed with the phone , and there is some wreally good sales , so poor you , who made this video . Its Only youre opinion .

  • ...and you are right it is the most powerful Mobile phone and you are wrong that it will not sell or only in little numbers, the N9's are already sold out. Everyone want to have one including me... :) My one is on its way...yeahh...Best Phone ever! Well Done Nokia... Thank you for not treating us like stupid people and for giving us the opensource unlike apple.

  • u r such an idiot , the Nokia N9 is the best cellphone i have ever seen .

  • YOU GOT A GOOD GOOD POINT

  • The future large screen

  • Visionary review. After almost half a year since this video was posted everything is happening like they predicted :)

  • So would it be possible to convert the N9 to Android?

  • f*ck this review, f*ck mobile gazette !!

  • WORST REVIEW EVER! I have had the pleasure to play with an N9 at a Nokia store and the thing makes the iPhone 4S look and feel like shit. Granted, it took me a while to get used to it (so used to using a iPhone) but when I got the hang of it the Nokie phone was honestly 100 times better then my Apple! MobileGazette needs to stop talking out of its ass. Anyone notice he didn't even have an actual phone to review? Only pictures, prolly stolen from another site on the net!

  • I love this phone .

    You are doomed !

  • looks like MIUI decided to make their own phone.

  • lolz its doomed for u coz u cant afford it....lols,just got mine today,and i bet u cant have 1 :)

  • Nokia management have their heads up their ass. They are now in bed with Microsoft, and are always looking for ways to please their board and major shareholders. Short term thinking for quarter to quarter earnings. Idiots. They have no clue of the mistake they are making by dumbing Meego. This could be a contender to Android and iphone. Hey.. you can even get an app for the Nokia Meggo N9 so you can download Android apps! The are as disconnected to the real world as European bankers. Sad,

  • Get your facts straight, there is a demand for something else than the iPhone and the shitty Androids! The mighty iPhone is seemingly old-fashioned and the launch of the 4S left several people dissapointed. As for the Android there is not much to say, it sucks.

Seen that the apps from the andoid market can be used on the N9, there is not much going wrong with the phone!

  • beautiful but doomed then a picture of a little girl? you pedophile!

  • Youre such a failure, its already sold out

  • lol Meego > Symbian

  • So, because you can't download 8475934 useless apps on your phone for 0.50$ each, it's doomed? I beg to differ.

  • @jlmdfnbo very true

  • @jlmdfnbo It is doomed. Just wait and see.

  • @MrIronriver I saw. They ran out of phones from pre-orders alone in several countries, and the sales are rising as we speak. In fact, in Finland this baby sold more in the first 24 hours of release than iPhone 4 did in about a week.

  • That's good news.

So, how do you know this? Where do you get your numbers. Please, share the numbers.

  • @MrIronriver I could share few links to Finnish websites with you, but alas, what's the point? You don't speak/understand Finnish and a know-it-all prick like you has already made his mind.

  • @jlmdfnbo You seem really angry.

  • @MrIronriver I admit, lack of intelligence, when it comes to my conversation partners, tends to make me angry. Sorry.

  • @jlmdfnbo It seems you have your period on. It's ok, fanboy.

  • @jlmdfnbo Haha. What a loser. Share your sources if you have any.

  • @MrIronriver haha ur a loser

  • @1993teemu Well, I'd like to see Nokia prevail, but why did they copy iPhone's bad sides: No dedicated button (was in N8) and no self changeable battery.

It's just so amateurish of Nokia... COME ON! Anybody could do better.

    Doomed, because of idiotism.

  • @MrIronriver dedicated button for taking photo ^

  • @jlmdfnbo Too late, it's doomed!

  • @jlmdfnbo 'doomed' and 'bad' are different things. i agree, this phone is brilliant, and it doesn't need a million apps to be good. i think its better then both android and ios, but its not the phone thats bad, its how nokia has managed it. so yeh the phone is doomed... the OS is dead, it will never be updated, it will be forgotten about and not be selling anymore in about 3-5 months.

  • @jlmdfnbo, that's no the point at all. The problem with Nokia is that they've always tried to do something else, but which does look good at first, always is a few steps behind all other OS's that exist, iOS, Android and so on.

Symbian OS for instant is old, very old, yet the only thing they've done is to update it and not very good updates at that. While this new OS does look good, I'm afraid that it might not be able to compete with the higher standards of phones that already exists.

  • @jlmdfnbo pretty much, you might not find apps as good as others but apps are a major selling point for OS's, if you dont realise this then you're pretty stupid

  • @jlmdfnbo useless or not is a subjective manner!!!

  • just picked up my n9 3 days ago and i can say is that im very happy i replaced my iphone

  • I think your assessment that it is doomed to fail is too premature and biased...

  • nokia rocks all ye pessimist understand nokia is the future of smartphones . n9 is the most beautiful sophisticated device which in looks dept beats all other smartphones.performance is good.

  • Thank you for this informative video. My Mum was thinking of getting an N9. I have a Samsung Android phone which I love and was trying to steer her in that direction. Upon checking for reviews I thought this seemed like a decent phone but perhaps I'll think twice. Mind you, she asks my opinion on electrical goods then always gets irate when I don't agree a device she likes is wonderful.

  • this device can run almost all android apps via "alien dalvik" apart from the apps that are designed for it.....................so its the best nokia device ever.....even nokia devices with windows wouldnt support so many apps....

  • iphone from nokia

  • Yes, it is born to fail! No sd card slot, lower pixel camera, pastic casing, everything is going backwards, degrading, why should someone buy a n9 if they have a n8? piece of junk. I will go for the Iphone 5 or the galaxy.

  • nokia may aswell admit defeat and declare bankruptcy. ever since n96 it has gone downhill rapidly

  • falling in luv with this phone!

  • iphone 5 gonna be doomed! N9 will be no1 phone!

  • meego is very good

  • It was very bad phone and fuckin shitty OS...it had to be doomed, well done Nokia.

  • I bet u'll be doomed before n9 get so, SUCKA!!!

  • it hasnt even come out yet.. how can someone say its a dead end.. lol..

  • I've been using the N900 over a year now and absolutely love the opensource freedom. I can brick it, flash it, run multiple OSes and have it do all the needed tasks. I believe the future holds both Windows and Linux. Meego is great. Maemo as well. So why would I try and criticize other OSes when the one I use works for me? I live in South Africa and have to wait for this device for a long time....while people throw harsh words around. Choose one, buy it, use it and stop arguing over the others.

  • besides, with myriad alien dalvik,N9 will be able to run all the android apps,so it's not a dead-end as you say

  • this is so biased,I disagree with you.

  • The N9 MeeGo makes me wanna punch Nokia's CEO's face really fucking hard. like Les Grossman.

  • Mmmmmmm HOAX!

  • I think nokia is being smart, not putting all its eggs in one basket with windows.

  • I currently use an iPhone 4 and I'm going to get iPhone 5 as well, but N9 sure is impressive. And I totally disagree with what's said here. All 64Gb models are already pre-ordered in Sweden and I can't see why Nokia will abandon the OS of such a successful device. Furthermore, developers are currently programing their apps for Meego and this OS is going to get much richer very soon. I think that your prediction is either biased or you have a sort of crystal ball that the rest of us don't have.

  • very informative and thanks

  • Hey quit hating on linux mobile OS's

    They're pretty decent!

If only people knew what the word kernel meant.

  • IT DOESN'T MATTER.. CAUSE IT 'WILL' SELL.. AND THAT'S ALL THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS! EVEN THAT SAD LITTLE GIRL WILL BUY IT, IT'LL PUT A SMILE ON HER FACE! ; ) nokia sells cause nokia makes us smile

  • The n9 is not the successor of the n900, it's the successor of the nokia n8...

I think most ppl would agree on that.

Since... you know.. 9.. comes after 8...

  • @corbraz You have no idea of what you're on about mate...

The N8 has a symbian OS.

The N9 has Meego-Harmaten 1.2 (Previously named Maemo 6, the successor of Maemo 5 which is the N900's OS)

    So there.

  • This video has very little to do with N9.

    Stop trashing Nokia.

  • Right now Microsoft is not in a very stable position with their new/update OS. I'm a big Nokia fan and was actually headed for the N900 but ended up getting a HTC Mozart WP7 device which i have now for about a month...and I want to get rid of it. I'm holding on because of Mango, but they keep pushing back the date and now i'm hearing 2012?! This can hurt Nokia Further Because this is who they've chose to partner with. But all that said...I'm Still Gettin' an N9 =)

  • @HighCallin Its likely to be this year sep 15. Not 2012!

  • Too many iSheep..

  • Nokia was good when N95 and X5800 was new, now?, i'll rather go SE, Jap/Swede killer design and ANDROID you cant go wrong!

    Sorry Nokia youre FU*KED

  • U cant predict the future of MeeGo OS .... we already said such predicting things in the past.... It wont make it...hahaha..... wrong time....wrong place.....however if people like it and mad about it.......... It will still be a success. Just look at android....people use to say it wont be a big thing now look at android.

  • apple fan.. -.-

  • XAXAXAXA, this just makes me laugh, the only problem with n9 is no qwerty KB, nokia newer truly supported maemo 5 or maemo 4 , n900 was a dev phone, thats why it was so successful

  • Comment removed

  • stop the crap. meeGo is very good

  • who the fuck creates names for their os that sounds like some fucking Chinese crap

  • When companies (Samsung & Nokia) hint at better devices weeks b4 their flagship is to be released, they only damage sales of that device. All carriers should take a lesson from Apple. Release a slammin' device & allow it 2b the Grande Dame for a while, thereby realizing its full sales potential. This is basic marketing. Rumors of W7 will surely kill sales of N9 as will the release or more dual cores. MeeGo, Maemo, Symbian - dying. Why doesn't Nokia just stop until it releases Windows 7?

  • Good thing is that Meego is just an UI over Linux and Linux is going nowhere. Basically there is neverending supply of free software. :)

It's bit misleading to say MeeGo is an OS. In reality N9 runs normal Debian Linux (with apt-get and other nice stuff) and MeeGo (Harmattan) is just the user interface on top and it's all native code as well as apps. Porting Linux apps to this is childs play.

  • Comment removed

  • Your inference of nokia being meego is totally incorrect...

you really should do a bit more homework before ...

try meego.com (who would have thought!) meego is much more than a phone OS

and the sooner people realise that and the integration that will provide. the sooner silly videos like this will stop.

look nokia will do wp7 for volume because it is the fastest for them right now

but meego is beyond the comprehension of most noobs who cannot see beyond next months phone.

  • hopefully it will just take a few more years for this whole "app"-based platform racism trend to collapse as quickly as it had arisen...

HTML5 applications (both local and online) might help pushing the platform choice back to the user, based upon what feels better to use for them, and not what software they want to run on it...

I really like the idea of MeeGo stripping down all the "home buttons" and menus to 3 homescreens that can be reached from anywhere by just swiping from the edge...

  • Very informative video! Thanks!

  • first they spent so much money developing n9 . then with so many praising the n9, the company killed it.

    weird

  • @duffins2007 Pessimistic society and culture, they chill so much they can't make solid decisions, I know this.

  • Im willing to bet the N9 will outsell ANY wp7.

  • @neodark088 yes its called sea ray they look the same except keys and its os

  • The only reason N9 sucks is because of lack of Physical Keyboard.

NOKIA please bring N950 to the Market!!!

The only reason I am not moving from n900

  • @AllGs I am doing exactly the same thing. I really want the n950 and love my n900.

  • @rudigameh thats what I always say too, love my N900, and for me its still the best ever made!!

  • I personally prefer platforms, that molt their skins every couple of years, instead of every year. I hate buying expensive gadgets only to see them go obsolete in few moths.

Its more than ready phone already, and it has enthusiastic coding scene, so for customers I think this "doomed-ness" is a good thing. The bad thing is the media. The consensus in the media is only good for supporting the currently dominating hegemony and homogenizing the already pretty unilateral phone market even further.

  • i dnt think so meego is the best system i ever find nokia will be always different frm android and apple and am really waiting 4 n9... nokia doest need android support to win the market..

  • WHY ARE PEOPLE PRONOUNCING NOKIA WRONG?!

    it is not "KNOCK-EEE-AH"

    it's "NOH-KEE-AH"

as in, "OH, I GET IT NOW"

goddamnit. my OCD was going off the enitre time xD

  • @choco33333333

Soz bud, but you are wrong. Having a Finnish friend, i can confirm that it is in fact pronounced Knock-Kya

Also, if you Google "how should we pronounce nokia anyway" you should get some clarity

  • it looks cute, but im happy with my nokia n8 :) i dont see a point of buying a phone every few months just because it's new and 'cool'. and what's up with the sizes?? getting bigger and bigger. ugh.

  • I don't think the N9 is doomed at all. In fact, there will be quite a scramble to get the devices in markets where Nokia are not launching it. Being open sourced, it will appeal to developers much in the same way that the N900 is still loved and well supported. There has been promises of updates from Nokia, and besides, these devices have a limited shelf life regardless of support - who still has a 1st gen iPhone launched in 2007? I'm dumping my dated Desire for this, and it's 1 year old!

  • Nokia was the best way before Android and IOS.But one bad call after another got them into a deep hole. It's very unfortunate that the N9 is 'doomed to die'.I changed my mind abt getting this phone cos it won't be further developed. So sad.

  • It's gonna come to sale!!!!!

  • I think nokia should just stock with meego this phone is sick it just needs a front facing camera and 4g capability.

  • @7777montey n9 have front facing camera

  • Comment removed

  • Your voice is so interesting. I always pictured it coming from a man named Alfred

  • please please please could you pronounce it correctly? its not webos, its webOS as in Oh Es

  • @timppa600 Noted :)

  • Why do ppl cant appreciate ! It looks awesome device.. Say it is awesome and close... Why history, ? Lol

  • Nokia is good for releasing a high-end device & announcing 'something better' a month before. Horrible marketing. Symbian was all the rage in the days of the 6600, N93, N95 8gb & N82. Nokia didn't know when to ditch it... and when Nokia did, it flailed around from Maemo, to Symbian 3, to Symbian Anna, to MeeGo to Windows. A mess. If only Nokia could put its camera & hardware to a decent, modern OS. They should probably just go out of business.

  • @proteanview agree with you completly!!

    well said.

  • @MobileGazelle Sounds Like You Guys Are Feeling Mighty Pessimistic Today Haha...

Nothing Is Set In Stone About Meego, I Mean Who's To Say That In A Few Months As More And More Awareness Builds About The N9 And Meego As A Whole, Nokia May Decide To Release 5 Or 10 Meego Devices Instead Of Just The N9.
