I am very concerned about what will happen to our farmers and private business owners when the government insists we implement environmental laws which restrict our growth and suggocate our businesses. The laws which are in effect now are bad enough. It seems to me that the government is using the "law" to control business and make money for the government, not for the people.

It's not just high food prices--it's the loss of everything. Farmers are losing their land and decades-old orchards, lakes we depend on for fire prevention and control have docks resting on dry ground.

It's always seemed crazy to me how much food is grown in the San Joaquin Valley. Outside of a narrow area along the rivers, it's a desert.
Turn off the spigot and everything dies.
Sooner or later they were going to run out of water for one reason or another, because it's unsustainable.
Here's a thought: maybe they should move the farms somewhere that gets rain. Here in NH we get more rain during May than the SJV gets in a year.

I come from a long line of farmers, spending every summer on the family farm in Ohio.
I've done everything associated with farming, from seeding crops to baling hay to slaughtering hogs.
Even without that experience, it's simple common sense that you don't try to grow crops in a desert that has poor soil and little rainfall.
