  • I'm 13 and i have type 1 for about 5 years now ... It's not that hard IMO you just have to get used to it and you can live a completely normal life , about the stupid questions people sometimes ask , it happens to me a lot , like " You can't eat sugar ? " etc. , people don't know what the disease is and so they ask stupid things like that . Anyways wanted to ask you what's your HBa1C , how many units of inslunin did you take in the vid and which insulin do you have?

  • I use Novorapid and do either 16-18 units depending upon by BM level when I wake up. My HBa1C is currently at 7.2. People often ask stupid questions but I like to think of it as being interested and trying to better your understanding of the condition.

    Cheers

  • Sweet , i use the insulin pump with Humalog R or Apidra , for my breakfast it's usually 8 units , my HBa1C was 5,8 like 4 weeks ago. Just wanted to ask you this , how old are you? And about the peoples interest about the disease what you wrote makes complete sense although i don't think people want to know more so they can help you but just because they're curious about the disease ( or it's their first encounter with it ) Hope you stay ( semi ) healthy as you are now :)

    Cheers to you too :)

  • uggh i hate doing my theigh. for some reason it just bothers me more

  • It seems that you do not disinfect the injection site. Is that the case and if so why not?

    Thanks,

    -Scott

  • Sorry Scott for the late reply, very late!

I don't disinfect the site, never have really, just a bad habbit I guess but don't really feel the need to.

    Cheers

  • you must have type 1 diabetes. if you are then i suggest that you should search for this song: A Little Bit Longer- by the Jonas Brothers. Nick Jonas wrote this song considering he has type 1 diabetes too.

  • Is that your thigh?

    I'm type 1, too. :)

  • Yeah, easy to do me injection in my thigh, been diabetic about 15 year and have developed lumps on my belly so try to avoid doing injections there, mostly upper arm and legs, cheers

  • no its a ape

  • I use that kind of insulin pen!!!

  • i think he has type 1 diabetes

  • what exactly are you injecting?

  • It's insulin, I have type one diabetes

  • i do to, but i have never injected into my butt, I know i can, but never tried it!

  • wow..although i will be a doctor,iam not brave as u

  • I am type 1 diabetic too, and have to inject. Everyone tells me I am brave. It's not bravery. We have to inject or we die.

  • Thats the way I feel too but I guess for people who don't have to do injections everyday it is brave, possibly not just the injections that require bravery but the lifestyle and complications it may bring as well

  • Good point. I guess we are just used to it so we just deal with it.

  • Dont you hate the people who trivialise it? And say stuff like 'Oh you'll be OK, have a mars bar and just shoot up'. Like they know what they're talking about. lol. Yeah man, what insulin are you on? I'm using the same pen but they gave me like three different types until I got along with Mixtard. :-D

  • Yeah, however a lack of understanding I think, not ignorance just alot of confussion as to what the condition actually is and does, I find people often ask me if my 'sugar is too much sugar or not enough' don't realise it can go either way, often get asked at work if am ok or if I want to go do my injection or eat a banana, lol!
