The 70's Steelers would have beaten the packers easily. GB never played a team that was as good there was in the league on both sides of the ball. Best run defense ever, and their front 4 legendary, and LB's secondary devastating. The steelers also built it the right way, through the draft. In the video,sInce the merger the steelers have the best record, most division titles, best win pct, most prowlers, most SB, and 9 HOF'ers off of that team. That will never be equaled again in our lifetime. #1
You are a fucking moron who has no education in football.
The three teams you have listed above have only won 5 championships SINCE 1967! lol.
Dude, the Steelers BY THEMSELVES have won 6 championships SINCE 1975! lol.
Your three teams won championships in league of 6 TO 12 TEAMS when dinasours roamed the earth.
The Steelers got their titles in league 28 TO 32 TEAMS DEEP dude, making each once more than TWICE as difficult as the old dinky league. Learn football dude
I find it amazing that everyone talks about the 9ers,Cowboys,Steelers but somehow leave out the Pack. How can anyone leave out the Pack?I am a Steeler fan &say the only team that can compete for the greatest football team over the Steelers is the Pack. Everyone forgets the Pack has won 11 championships! Ya, i know it was before the merger but does that make it not count? There should rather b two questions: 1)which is the greatest team (Pack) 2)which is the greatest since the merger (Steelers)
BMORE SUCKS 410 I live here and I talk shit all the time you fucking fag wearing my harrison jersey my whole family is from northern PA. I have never had anyone do shit you all in baltimore are a bunch of pussies. Now come to PA and do that shit you might get thrown in one of the river. You fucking hating fag. As a matter of fact i just wore my jersey in the mall at towson (which is a huge mall lots of people) no one said shit. Your mad bcause somebody in heinz kicked your ass hahahahaha.
He does have a point, the Steelers, 49ers and Cowboys are all in that 3 team race. But the Steelers, even when they haven't won championships for a span of time, they usually had a winning season every year. They made the Super Bowl three times in my lifetime, winning two of them, and I've only seen 3 losing seasons, and 5 seasons without the playoffs. That's honestly unbelievable.
The History of Pro Football is made up of 2 ERA's. Before the Super Bowl ERA, and the Super Bowl ERA ( the Modern ERA). Best team ever is the Packers 11 or 12 Championships( 3 titles, no playoffs just based on best record), then the Steelers in the Super Bowl Era 6 is still 6. Look at the Hall of Famers that came off both teams in those era's and the Steelers still aint done (Rod Woodson is in, Jerome Bettis 1st ballot next)
you cant really say they are the best team or best football team, cuz there will be more eras to come and you have to compare with teams of the past. but as a steeler fan here in pittsburgh, i can say without a shadow of a doubt, we have the best fans and the best franchise.
The 49ers of 1984 who beat the Dolphins. Those two teams were so dominant in that season. Miami's Marino based attack simply blew every team away. However the only reason they did not win was because SF were a team that were superstrong in EVERY department, they had no weakness. The 85 Bears were crushing teams but that was due too their outstanding 46 defence.
if i remember right the the year the 49ers beet the dolphins there wasnt really many good teams in the AFC that year so the dolphins probably were not as good as their record reflected and the bears beat up on a patriots team that didnt really belong there.
Beyond what I said previously about the Packers, Bears and Giants -- If you want to limit it to JUST the Super Bowl era, you need to assign values to winning and losing the Super Bowl. How about -- -playing in the SB is worth "1" point and -winning it is worth "2" additional points. ? So then you'd have -- Steelers 19 Cowboys 18 49ers 15 Patriots 12.
You real cocky about them steelers, maybe your team benefited from tom brady being hurt? I doubt steelers will get anymore anytime soon. Either dallas or the niners will catch that next one and surpass the steelers. It will happen
thats pretty big talk for a guy who roots for a team that its highlight was the coach pulling his pants down,i dont understand the logic that its better to be 5-0 in the super bowl then it is to be 6-1.
It must be nice to have bragging rights, but i rather be undefeated. Even Dallas is one superbowl away from tieing your franchise and making your SB wins look nothin special since you lost to them already at the bowl.... Think About
lol,so the buccaneers and ravens have a better super bowl record then the steelers with that logic.without johnson there to build another team for the cowboys i dont see them getting another SB anytime soon.
uh? sorry to inform you dude or dudette...check the history of superbowls regarding the steelers and cowboys before you put your foot in your mouth...here is a little hint....
they played more than once...use your google and educate your self!
um no there not not even close the packers double have the most championships in the NFL 12 Green Bay, 1929-1931, 1936, 1939, 1944, 1961-62, 1965-67, 1996
Really the discussion doesn't include teams that were great prior to the Super Bowl. If you do include that (and I think one should) you've also got to consider the Green Bay Packers (who've also done pretty well in the Super Bowl era but were dominant when the SB started). Vince Lombardi, anyone?
Have you ever been to Pittsburgh? We're one of the most cultured and inustrial people in Pa. Granted, the rest of Pa besides Philly, is basically Kentucky.

the only miss ive seen was the celebration after the catch by holmes,i remember the seahawks crying after SB40 even after every call was right.(yes WRs pushing off is a penalty)
Hahahah you're kidding right? Even Big Ben came out after that SB and called BS on some of those calls. (I hate the Seahawks but face it, NFL loves the Rooney family.)
@gillianseed they won 6 dumbass...... u honestly trying to say the refs won all 6 superbowls for them???? Tell me were the refs assigned to tackle parker when he busted a 75 yard touchdown?
Hockey's Montreal Canadiens HAVE to be a candidate for Best sports team ever, altho admittedly they haven't had a dynasty since the 70s, altho they do have a couple of Stanley Cups since then and have usually been very competitive.
that's true man i truly believe that if the titans could have turned at least one of those missed opportunities into points they would have won the game and they would have been the AFC representative in the SB
WHOOO!!!! STEELERS KICKED ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was certain they had lost 46 seconds near the end. Until they made that OUTRAGEOUS comeback. OMG THAT WAS INSANELY AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!

5.Either Patriots or Giants, I don't really care, flip a coin :P
But then again, I am a Steelers, Cowboys, and Packers fan. And just for fun, I'll rank my favorite team, the Atlanta Falcons......26th lol. I still love em though even though their consistency is complete crap!
The Steelers will be playing in the Super Bowl today, the Titans will be sitting at home watching them play. That's how they're better. A great season record means squat if you don't win it all. The Patriots know a lot about that after last season.
fuck as a Steelers fan this video creeps me the fuck out, you can't be putting those infinite glory labels on our team like you did the Patriots, its bad luck!
The NY Giants. Always over coming insurmountable odds by ANY stretch of the imagination... and last year was UNBELIEVEABLE, UNDENIABLE proof of that.
However you COULD argue that the Steelers have had a more consistent "franchise" but I think it would be absurd to NOT include the Giants in any of these arguments.
And the 49ers? Really?
Yeah they had a dynasty in the 80's. Um... but that... was in the 80's.
The only reason they always get mentioned is because of Joe Montana. Period.
The 49ers have the only perfect record in the SB and tied for most SB wins at 5-0. Not only were they dominant in the 80s, but much of the 90s. Steve Young and Jerry Rice ring a bell?
And one last tidbit. Every team in the league (including the other so called elite teams, Cryboys, 49ers, Raiders, Dolphins, Pack etc.) have all had a 1 or 2 win season in the last 36 yearsthe Steelers worst record in that timeframe? 5 - 11 in 1988 under Chuck Noll.
So here ya have itlet's see any other teams stats over the last 36 years and see if they can match usthey CAN'T!!!
Years Steelers have been in the Super Bowl: 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 1995, 2005, 2008
(7 times out of 36 years = average of playing in Super Bowl every 5.14 years) (5-1 record...soon to be 6 and 1!!!)
Year Steelers WON the Super Bowl: 1974, 1975, 1978, 1979, 2005, 2008?
(5 times out of 36 years = average of winning the Super Bowl every 7.2 years) (When we win on Sunday it will be = average of winning the Super Bowl every 6 years)
Since 1972 when the Steelers started making the playoffs on a regular basis (over the last 36 years) here are the cold, hard ( like STEEL!!! ) facts:
Years Steelers made the playoffs: 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977,1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 (24 times out of 36 years = average of making the playoffs every 1.5 years) (30 and 18 record)
We all from time to time have had a Cryboys fan or a 49ers fan etc. etc .etc. tell us how good their teams history is blah, blah, blahin the interest of setting the record straight once and for all, I'm posting a compilation of the following true facts in honor of the Steelers playing in their 7th Super Bowl on Sunday.
Here is all you need to know to set straight any NFL fan (or any fans of NHL, NBA or MLB franchises for that matter) who thinks their team success is better than ours.
The Steelers didn't win Super bowl XL. There was a shadowy conspiracy that gave them the game. It probably involved reptilians and the invisible pink unicorn.
sport team ????.... com'on where are the soccer teams. Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid. Those people recruit from all over the world not like an exclusively american sport like football.
Ben's arguement is betraying his bias. He said it's okay to lose the Superbowl. Well then the Cowboys have been to the most (8) and won 5 of them. The Cowboys also have had an unprecidented 20 consecutive winning seasons, most playoff games and wins, and obviously the most NFC Championships.
So as of RIGHT NOW you have to pick the Cowboys based on the numbers. That could change Sunday but it might not.
Chiefs, if only we can make it to the damn playoffs again, and hopefully we can get Mike Shanahan as the Chiefs coach. Still gotta go with the 49ers for best NFL franchise.
nope. yanks are always good... boston went on an i believe 24 year drought to win another title... babe ruth, derek jeter just a couple of GOAT players ever in baseball

What a team is doing now has to go into the equation. Packers have been on the downside for quite a few years now.
What have you done for me lately?
Rbuck2110 2 years ago
Snoopydog48,
The Packers are NOWHERE CLOSE to the Steelers in terms of dominant team in history, and here's why...
The Packers have 11 or 12 championships in an era with 8 TO 12 TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE lol.
The Steelers have all 6 of their championships in a league from 26 TO 32 TEAMS...
So each Steelers title SHOULD count statistically as about THREE Packers titles.
Plus, no city, is more defined by a sports team, than Pittsburgh by the Steelers. It's like a war tribe there.

Steelers 6.

No.
Period.
Krumbz2003 3 years ago
The 49ers have the only perfect record in the SB and tied for most SB wins at 5-0. Not only were they dominant in the 80s, but much of the 90s. Steve Young and Jerry Rice ring a bell?
The NY Giants... give me a break.

The Steelers didn't win Super bowl XL. There was a shadowy conspiracy that gave them the game. It probably involved reptilians and the invisible pink unicorn.

First off... the 70's Steelers were roided out the crazy and damn lucky, much in the same way this decades' Patriots are (lucky, not roided)
Second, we know the refs gave Pittsburgh SB XL.
Dallas is 5-3 in the Super Bowl, they've had championships in TWO eras, and they've been a part of some of the benchmark games of the NFL.
The Ice Bowl... yeah, that was Dallas.
Jim O'Brien... yeah, that was Dallas.
Answer: Dallas Cowboys.

thank you, Hype-eljefereal-Machine.
it's case closed if the steelers win tomorrow.
steelers vs cowboys in superbowls: 2 to 1
cowboys are fine but they fall short too often with too much talent and money at their disposal.
1)steelers; 1)49ers; 2)cowboys

Explain to me how the Patriots are going to find the next great runningback in... Uruguay?
And you didn't mention Man U.
eljefereal 3 years ago
Ben's arguement is betraying his bias. He said it's okay to lose the Superbowl. Well then the Cowboys have been to the most (8) and won 5 of them. The Cowboys also have had an unprecidented 20 consecutive winning seasons, most playoff games and wins, and obviously the most NFC Championships.
So as of RIGHT NOW you have to pick the Cowboys based on the numbers. That could change Sunday but it might not.
swaggajee 3 years ago
yea but hes saying the disappointing way they have played in recent years disqualifies them. like this year they didn't even make the playoffs.

Chiefs, if only we can make it to the damn playoffs again, and hopefully we can get Mike Shanahan as the Chiefs coach. Still gotta go with the 49ers for best NFL franchise.
