  • @Thumpalumpacus I don't know about better than Zeppelin, but they are the Sabbath of the 90s I would say.

  • I love almost everything I've heard from the 'Garden. They are the Zeppelin of the 90s ... only, better.

  • the dislike button was probably pressed twice by accident.the fact that someone hates this is amazing

  • 2 people prefer chris cornell's solo album 'Scream'

  • @doctorHOUSE

Not funny, my entire life is based around that album.

  • Wtf both nirvana and soundgarden are great. who cares who is better, it just depends on your taste.

  • shut up enjoy the music!!!!!

  • Soundgarden is hard rock, metal, punk rock, rock, before they hit the Superunknown album.

  • @santanaincubus SUPERUNKNOWN is without question their best album, they peaked out on that album... down on the upside sucks

  • @upabovechoices To me All their albums are the best. I love listening to Badmotorfinger, Ultramega OK, and Louder than Love.

  • @santanaincubus SUPERUNKNOWN is without question their best album, they peaked out on that album... down on the upside sucks/

  • wow...brings back so many good times....!!!! It was a awesome time when Seattle Sounds was all around!!! miss it.

  • the only thing i don't like about this song is quality....

i hope they remaster this well

  • @yookoke112 Have you heard the BBC studio session version? its 100% better quality

  • the bbc recording for this kicks so much ass man

  • I love soundgarden, the first 2 albums had somewhat of a stoner rock feel to them.

  • the minute the media labled it with their own lable, they shit on it... this music is like a sexual acid trip on a roller coaster.

  • the led zeppelin of grunge.

  • MOAR WINDCHIMES!

  • I love this song!!

  • Soundgarden, Metallica, Jane's Addiction, Bad Brains, Pixies, Primus....So many eighties bands were standing music "genre" on its head, showing its under belly. I remember seeing Metallica band members wearing GBH t-shirts and Perry Farrell singing with Ice-T at Lalapalooza. Alternative music in that day was music undressed. Soundgarden was no different: raw and on fire. Incredible to see live.

  • @TheSkankat you should listen to the incessant mace demo

  • 2 assholes

  • Haha. So... people got smarter, but now they got a new god and a new mistake. Overanalyzing. Skipping pieces. Trying to grasp things rationally. Thank you wikipedia and modern media for making us look at movies like directors but not giving us the raw experience and feeling to match.

Tell me kids, how many times a day do you skip those 'boring' parts in texts and songs and movies?

  • Pretty good song. Glad the new compilation is coming out. I have Super Unknown and Badmotorfinger. Those are both great albums. Early Soundgarden i have not heard much of.

  • SOUNDGARDEN!! There is no substitute!!!!!!!!!!

  • Soundgarden used to be mysterious to me. My brother had Down on the Upside and I stole it one day and listened to it. Pure gold. i was little and it sound like just noise punk to me. I got older and into Grunge and Soundgarden listening to like their Badmotorfinger and Louder Than Love stuff and everything else. But know when I listen to Down on the Upside i cant think of it as soundgarden. We all agree it is a different sound from them and when i think of it i think of some old mysterious band.

  • Soundgaden, Pearl jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney ! Best grunge band's ever !!

  • Awesome, Simply awesome.

  • First band I got into ever..

  • @zone1480 wow

  • Happy Spring,everyone!

  • Aye, this is a good anthem for spring. It's so pretty.

  • @AceofSaintcanard84 It's summertime, biotch.

  • @NickJanosky hey d***head,I posted that comment around march the 24th,so shut up hateful little prick!

  • @AceofSaintcanard84 Lol, I was actually kidding, but okay.

  • @NickJanosky Oh sorry dude!

  • I heard these guys are reuniting in an effort to SAVE ROCK AND ROLL.

  • @Rumpelstilzchen21 And we need it desperately. When I saw Pearl Jam live in November, I saw pure rock and roll and love for music. A crowd of people moved by music. We need the 90's BACK!

  • Now can anyone see where Helmet got their sound?

They always were... And still are.

    Soundgarden forever.

  • This song kicks serious amount of ass!!!

  • chris coenell live this year bros. GRUNGE LIVES....root soil ...cement

  • @draven65 hey me too :D

    lol

  • @draven65 Mutha F-ing SOUNDGARDEN!!!!!!!!

  • @draven65 Yupp

  • I'm a huge Tool fan, so allow me to shed some light on this. They just have this sound that gets under people's skin and takes them for a ride they never forget. Atleast that's how it is for me.

  • They're also one of the few bands to retain all of their intensity in concert.

  • I've never had the opertunity to see them live. They don't really come to my neck of the woods.

  • nirvana, tool, soundgarden, pantera are all amazing bands, you guys need to listen to some alice in chains, pearl jam, mudhoney, L7, Tad, the melvins those are great bands! ohh and obviously the doors and the beatles

  • Best band ever

  • normally i mostly listen to bands like Metallica Megadeth and Rage Against the Machine, but lately ive been listening to Tool, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden. AND ITS AWESOME. i like being somewhat diverse with my music.

  • same here

soundgardens early stuff is the best

  • rage, tool, and soundgarden are all incredible bands....the others are meh

  • toll is agth

  • nothing beats tool and Alice in Chains.

  • you my friend are listening to ALL THE BEST BANDS!! try out some pantera if you like, its alil more heavy, but still great

  • ad some nirvana to that and ill put a thumb up to your comment = P

  • metallica and tool r my fav bands!!!!!!!!!

    rock on \m/

  • tool is a great band

  • diverse??? all those bands are metal-hard rock bands, where is the diversity?? someone diverse would be anyone who listens...i dont know, soundgarden and pink floyd...

  • haha, THANK YOU for pointing that out.

Seems like if you listen exclusively to the biggest 90s breakout bands, you're "diverse."

They're great, no doubt, but so were the Smiths, Sex Pistols, Grateful Dead, Deep Purple, Janis Joplin, David Bowie, The Band, and Concrete Blonde.

don't get caught up in the scenes, kids. that's why grunge music is even here, its the fusion of genres.

  • @deadboys1010 grateful dead, really? 90s?

  • True, there was plenty of good music before the 90's. Led Zeppelin and Black Sabath are names everyone knows, and for a reason.

  • @unemployable18 haha.. arguably my two fave bands :P am i "diverse" now?

  • Nice trip back to the best of life..17..good herb..lots of trim and listening to this ridin up to Sebastian Inlet for good waves, gas 88-91cents a gallon.. Gone for good.

    Thanks for postin.

  • soundgarden owns nirvana

  • And people thumbed you down for that! Nirvana are decent, but come on, folks!

Instrumentally on all counts, the singing was better, Soundgarden experimented far further than Nirvana did and rocked a hell of a lot harder.

Anyone who thumbs you down is a complete musical moron. I know musical theory and SG kills Nirvana. Don't suck Kurt's dick because you all know it's true.

Also, Cornell was a master lyricist, far more underrated than Cobain. Influenced by Sylvia Plath.

  • I LOVE NIRVANA but you are right about Soundgarden experimenting more but I don't think they rocked harder from looking at NIRVANAs live shows and just the anger in his music.I don't understand why we even have to argue about this though. Why can't we all just agree that they are two awesome bands?

  • @BookerDayton whoa buddy don't get carried away now. lol both are great but kurt cobain was kurt motha fuckin cobain

  • @JacobMohundro06 you honestly cant say that kurt cobain wouldve stil been this popular if he was still alive...and soundgarden's music was overall just better...its truth

  • @BookerDayton could not agree more.nirvana, the worlds most overrated band

  • Wow I was wondering if there is a Soundgarden/AIC/Nirvana song on youtube with no discussion about which band is the best grunge band....well went out there is none....amazing

  • @Depressiverroboter word!! especially on AIC vids!! there's always at least one person that's like "AIC>nirvana" or "i think AIC is way better than nirvana because..."

just fucking deliberatly!! it's like "SHUT the fuck up and listen to the music you damn whiners"

  • i agree

  • stoner rock / grunge

  • or how about we just label it wonderful music.

  • I'm not trying to start an arguement, but I cant stand the term grunge. I mean labeling music like this anything other than rock or rock and roll is pretty ridiculas.

  • The ones who really latched on to that term were those who had ripped jeans, Doc Martens, and plaid shirts to sell you, and record company executives with (usually shitty and derivative) CDs to sell you.

  • It was just the scene they were involved in at the time, I don't think 'Grunge' is actually considered a genre of music.

  • exactly, Grunge was a social movement. A way of life if you will, and Soundgarden was the sound of it, Nirvana who?

  • wrong, a band called green river started it all soundgarden came later on with a more metal attitude

  • it is its another term for alternative in the 90s, im sure you already know all about that tho

  • many great band's first releases contain some of their best output (until the record company gets ahold of you &demands you 'go pop' or else you'll never make it in the biz.... whatever).

case in point right here. this tune totally turned my concept, of what the "seattle grunge" scene was all about, on its head.

i mean, who else way doing anything like this at the time?

love the use of time signatures, the sonic textures (heavy in-your-face alongside with the ethereal)

    progressive grunge? ;)

  • very well put.

these guys were different. many bands stood out but these guys stood out differently.

  • well this is what the seattle sound was.. guys like these and other late 80's punk mixed with metal sounding guys like mother love bone and that sort of stuff.. but nirvana ushered in a whole new sound that a lot of the bands followed with their cd nevermind.. and from 91 on the sound changed from late 80's to a whole new sound, that is my fav sound ever =P..

  • i agree with you for most part, however for Soundgarden I don't think their first output was their best (don't get me wrong I still like it, but Superunknown was an incredible album). However Soundgarden is fairly unique in that their sound has never been tainted with attempts to make their music more poppy.

  • @JonP1961 Grunge really was a progression in itself. The kind of stuff that Nirvana was doing in basically everything except Nevermind was taking a direction far from whatever bum rock 'Grunge' conjures up in people's minds. Alice in Chains do the time signature thing as well, even Pearl Jam to an extent, not to mention that most of all of these bands were extremely melodically atypical. That's only the big four too...

  • freakin badass man!

  • INCREDIBLE!!!

  • i saw the 45 of Flower original in the local record store. at the time i wasnt a huge fan so i looked it over.... biggest mistake of my record collecting life

  • grunge, grunge, grunge. moved away from it a bit later.
