  • this was by far the best times for drum corps. i played for the knights from 82-84. soprano. 84 finals was truely amazing. it seemed to be us and dagenham crusaders that took the share of trophies. not forgetting green lancers who won in 83. these were truely the best days of my life.meeting some great people from all over the country.loved every minute of it.happy days.

  • Go Russel Burton !!

  • The Knights are reforming for 2010. Will be playing Zenda. See the Knights Alumni website for information

  • I was there playing in 1984 as a 14 year old young lad. I've never known such a bunch of poser/bullying wankers in my life! Insecure spoilt twats with bad mullets, perms and pig ugly girlfriends.Great music though....

  • not bitter then lol

  • The sopranos at 02:00 used and still give me cold shivers down my spine

  • Fantastic cant believe ive found this my favourite DCUK opener ever!! Prisoner of Zenda??

By the Imperial Knights classic British Drum Corps!!

Stands the test of time well not like the pish noy!!!

  • It must be about 20 years since I saw any drum corps. I just watched this video. It STILL looks and sounds amazing and STILL managed to bring me out in goosebumps!

  • silver shadows were p**h.

    you won f*** all

  • Anybody out there got footage of the Silver Shadows? I was with them from foundation in 1979 (pre DCUK) until the BMBC 2 weeks after my wedding in 1986. Three times DCUK finalists. Love all these old memories of Lancers, Knights, Crusaders, etc ... all good!

  • good comment glancerwells i marched byba in the atlanta royal(championship class i think) back in 85 88 and ive never got it out of my system, i still play today but i'd love to march again, i really miss the buzz of putting on the uniform stepping out onto the field and give your all. this videos is great thanks for uploading!!

  • great imperial knights show from that day, what a great day it was, i was with Green Lancers who did the final solo in Even Now.

good times by all it was fantastic!

  • Wow! It was great being in the audience but to be a performer in the lancers must have been amazing. I remember very vividly the time when you beat Dagenham for the first time of the season the week before finals at the Gravesham contest - amazing atmosphere - whole crowd was behind you. I have some video of it somewhere. Great stuff!

  • it was a fantastic time i think for all of us to be part of drum corp at that time. to battle against Dagenham, Imperials & Blue Barons every year was why DCUK was enjoyable to watch. i don't know about you, i think there should be a revival of the old drum corps and have an alumni section in DCUK for us oldies who can't seem to get drum corp out of there blood!

  • It happens every now and again.

I was a lead soprano player for the Barons, then Drum Major in our Championship winning season.

It was amongst the best years of our lives.

I would still love to be a part of it, but that's life .

For all it's faults , DCUK was a superb out in life.

  • I've just posted a new clip - the week before finals in 1983 when you (Lancers) took first place over Dagenham for the first time. It shows the announcement of the results and I think it's pretty obvious what the crowd thought of you :-) I remember the stand shook and the static encore at the end (which I think I also have somewhere) was something else!

  • Great to listen too again.

Anyone know where I can find some footage of 2nd Brighton though, at the BMBC 1978, which was televised at the time on Chanel 4

  • I might be able to help you. Have loads of old footage including the early televised BMBCs - it's just finding time to re-encode it and upload it, but I'll see what I can do.

  • Fantastic, will look forward to catching that if you can sort it. Probably pushing my luck, but how about 'Basildon Blue Eagles and Dagenham crusders' !!!!

  • Afraid I can't find any 1978 but I've uploaded some 2nd Brighton from the third BMBC (1980). Don't think Dagenham ever did BMBC and there's no footage of Basildon from 1980.

  • Fantastic. What a pleasure to see my old band on youtube. The videos on here were of the prelims during the day, not the actual finals. Our evening show where we one the British title was better still

  • good grief the old potty heads brilliant to see, many a good time competing against the phantom wannabes lol :-)

  • Those were the days ! Will always remember the Bari solo in Yentl .

Any 2nd Brighton stuff ? JC (Havering 1984)

  • Took me right back. I was in Skyriders and Conquest, happy days

  • It's cool to see a British drum corps. I remember when the Dagenheim Crusaders toured North America way back when. You can really hear the influence of British brass bands in the horn line. Sounds great, drill design is good. Executing the drill is a different story. Well, this is from 1984 so I'll just enjoy it as a piece of drum corps history. Thanks for sharing.

  • Great to see this again. I loved the Knights opening number this year. I've had that music in my head for 20 years or more and I never even marched with you! You guys were fantastic!
