Yes I can. Because you are the eye of the crew. You might see something happening outside like an engine fire or just a bit of smoke, etc... etc.... That's why. Cause the cabin crew usually can't see outside, but as passenger you have a good view of the wings and outside conditions.
This is not true. The reason is that, should an accident happen, the cabin lighting might be disabled, leaving the cabin in darkness. This is why the cabin lighting is shut down during takeoff, so the eye does not need to accomodate should something happen. The shades need to be opened because light from outside (moonlight or runway beacons) could be the only source of light in an unlucky situation. An engine fire is immediately noticed by the pilots.
it's also true, but what i say it's also right. Cause ok about an engine, but if there is a technical problem, imagine, that fuel is leaking from the wing & that the pilots are not aware. It already happened. Then, if a piece of the wing, even a very small one comes out of the wing during take off for example, the pilots will not notice it, but a passenger yes. So it's for many reason, yours are right, but mine too!
@Migueller13 Should an evacuation become necessary, it is good to be able to see outside of the plane to determine if it is safe to utilize the exits. Conditions when it would not be safe would include things like fire, wreckage, or other situations which would make using any given exit more dangerous than another.
Migueller13,
Because you have to...

I saw this version when I went on the 747-4D7. BKK CNX. That cabin was very bright with pink and purple seats. This interior is very nice actually.
