  • Is coconut oil a good sunscreen. I have read on some sites that it is and then not mentioned at all on other sites for this purpose? I know that you say that the specific african shey butter that you talk about is a good sunscreen. Have you ever had a problem putting this on your face, though. I love it on all other areas of body but my face does not seem to like it to much?

My husband likes to ice fish so I will be joining him sometimes and would like a natural product to start out the day with

  • @katiegrav Hi, I would not rely on coconut oil or shea butter as a sunscreen per se. They have natural sunscreen properties perhaps useful in partial sun or intermittent daily exposure, but if you are going out in the sun for any length of time, you really need a sunscreen with SPF at least 30 or higher.

  • I started eating coconut oil and my cholesterol raised a lot.

  • It's also great in the bed. hint* hint*

  • I use coconut oil as a facial moisturizer, and it cured me of cystic acne! I now use it as a styling gel too! It's the fairy godmother of oils!

  • @YouTips4u which do you prefer olive oil or coconut oil? x <3

  • @pinkrose2930 Hi, I really love them both and I use them for different things.

  • I LOVE COCONUT OIL!

  • Thank you for answering my questions :) when it comes to my hair i like getting enough information and you helped me alot :) thank you ur soo helpful and kind

  • great information :) i live in ireland which is a cold country would coconut oil still be a good oil for the winter or should i buy another product?

  • Hi, it would be wonderful for you. You don't have to live in a warm climate for coconut oil to be beneficial.

  • i live by this stuff.

  • I love your videos, they are so informative! You are a very lovely woman inside and out and I thank you for sharing your knowledge with us :o)

  • You're very welcome! Thank you for your very kind words :o)

  • Are you paid for promoting this brand of coconut oil?

    -Little Paw

  • Hi, not at all. I am sharing what I have found to be beneficial in my life with others so that they can benefit from it too :o)

  • Love this video. Great information. Just started using coconut oil and I love it

  • do you put it on your scalp?

  • You certainly can, but only if you suffer from dry scalp. Otherwise it's best to use it on your hair only because your scalp produces enough oils to keep it healthy.

  • What do you think of the All Natural Lou Ana pure coconut oil you can purchase at Walmart compared to the Organic Extra virgin coconut oil you purchase at a Health food store which is a much higher price?

  • Hi, Natural does not mean organic and it's important how the coconut oil was processed that's why you want extra virgin. I would recommend you buy the organic extra virgin, it's worth any extra money you may pay for it.

  • What other oils would you recommend cooking with?

  • Olive.

  • How much did you pay for your Coconut Oil?

And would this be good facial mosturizer for sensitive skin, or would it clog pores?

  • Hi, it's a great facial moisturizer but it's a trial and error. Some people love it and some people find they get pimples which can happen whenever you use an oil on your face. It's so hard to say if it's just a coincidence, but if you use is two separate times when your face is clear and then you see a pimple, then I would say avoid it. I have great luck with it as a skin moisturizer and I don't get pimples at all from it. My coconut oil cost $7 on vitacost.com

  • I love coconut! This is a very interesting video, thank you. Maybe I will try the oil one day

  • Have you read "Nourishing Traditions" by Sally Fallon? If not, I think you would really like it! Her whole focus is on eating food our ancestors ate as opposed to processed foods.

  • Hello, I keep my coconut oil is the fridge, is that the best place for it?? since its dark and cold

  • Hi, I'm sure it's fine, but it's not necessary to keep it there. Usually you want to keep it in a cool dry place like a kitchen cupboard.

  • How does it taste when frying? I rarely fry food because of the health risks. Also, for frying eggs, eggs don't absort oil, so once its cooked and you wipe oil off, it doesnt really add many calories at all.

  • Hi, I think it tastes great. It does leave a bit of a coco-nutty flavor to the eggs, but I like it.

  • Thank you for this great info !!!

  • can ii use thiis whiile Pregnant? 4 my hair...

  • Absolutely! It's pure and natural; nothing synthetic or processed.

  • my coconut just says 100% pure, it does not say virgin. Is that just as good?

  • Hi, check to see how it is processed. As long as it is cold-pressed, unbleached, unrefined, and organic then it's great! virgin is best.

  • @OoLaalaaaa no its not it has to be "organic virgin coconut oil" not coconut oil 100%

  • thank you for your videos. its very helpful. whenever i eat a real coconut and its meat inside, the next day my skin especailly my face becomes nice and smooth and my fine line wringles dissappears. so yeah ur right its good for us. thank u.

  • fit

  • i'm in lovvvveee with coconut oil. I make my home made deodorant with it. It's fantastic!!!

  • With either the coconut oil and olive oil,do I just shampoo then add this to wet hair as a conditioner? Whats the poroper way to do this, and what shampoos do you like to use?

  • Hi, these are best used as deep conditioners on dry hair. Please see my Deep Conditioning with Olive Oil Video. If you would like to use Coconut Oil on your hair after you have shampooed, you may, however, you should only use a very tiny amount.

  • this is so good I try and teach people that things like margarine isn't good for you but alot of people strongly believe that it's better then butter and the same goes for low fat foods they are not good for you.

  • Does it cure dandruff? so can i use it to replace my toxic conditioner?

  • @IampureSol A lot of ppl expierence thicker hair and it moisturizes the scalp very well. Recently doctors have come to a theory that dandruff comes from a fungus in the scalp that feed off your oil glands , though leaving the hair dry and flakey. Coconut oil is anti fungal and ant-bacterial. Some ppl have found it well for treating eczema and acne. Oh and it makes a good condiitioner :)

  • @mexifaith Sweet thank you : ) . I wonder how much i need to put on my scalp and do I leave it on or wash it off after a while?

  • @IampureSol You can leave it on as a leave in conditioner or you can leave it on...just not in cold weather...it tends to get stiff (your hair).

  • so....heating it doesn't effect the benefits?

  • No, it's just as healthy for you.

  • My mother and I buy it in a can and warm it up in the microwave and then put it on our roots! But I've only done it once.

  • @thisisme0708 go back to school and learn how to make sense.....MORRON

  • @VERONESEDAN hahaha, wow. You're telling me to go back to school and learn how to make sense? AND...you spelled moron wrong. It's one 'r' not two. Obviously I but the coconut oil in a bowl before putting the can into the microwave. THINK before you make yourself look like an asshole. MORON.

  • Thanks for this great information! I just wanted to share that I recently found out that there's not such thing as "Extra Virgin Coconut Oil"...only Virgin Coconut Oil! Supposedly, adding the word "Extra" is a marketing ploy! The best kind to get is Virgin Coconut Oil and it should also say Organic and Cold-Pressed and Unrefined...Just like you mentioned, only without the word "Extra"! Thanks again!

  • can I also use VIRGIN cocnut oil (so it's not extra virgin), which is also cold pressed and organic?

  • Hi, yes that is fine. Virgin and Extra Virgin are the same in the coconut oil industry. The extra virgin is a borrowed terminology from the Olive Oil industry. As long as it is cold-pressed, unbleached, unrefined, and organic.

  • Thank you for sharing your knowledge ill try and help my elders and myself maybe it can help wiyh psoriasis thanks again Maryjane

  • Hi,

thanks for your video! it was very informative. Besides coconut oil and extra virgin olive oil, do you know any other natural oils that are good for your hair, skin, and nails?

I have heard that Moroccain oil is great, however haven't yet tried it.

and another question...where can i purchase coconut oil and any other oils that you know of?

    thank you so much!

    <3

  • Hi, when you have time, please take a look at my jojoba oil video. I love jojoba oil for skin and hair as well. You can buy jojoba oil and coconut oil at Trader Joes if you have one near you, or you can buy them in any natural foods store.

  • @YouTips4U thanks a ton. =]

  • For those of you who are asking about where to get coconut oil and what kind.. more than likely you won't find it at the grocery store with the regular cooking oils. You have to find it in a health food store, or a store like Vitamin Shoppe. The coconut oil you get at Walmart is NOT the kind you want. Refined coconut oil is NOT good for you, as it has been altered just like the other altered oils on the grocery store shelves. Only buy unrefined coconut oils.

  • very informative

  • what is better expeller pressed or cold pressed does it really matter i heard cold pressed is better for skincare so what do you recommed

  • Hi, choose cold-pressed whenever you can for skin care and cooking. All cold-pressed oils are expeller pressed, but not all expeller pressed oils are cold-pressed. When an oil is cold-pressed, the temperature is controlled and kept low . This is used for delicate oils.

  • YOU'RE ADORABLE

  • does coconut oil help acne to go away

  • Hi, I wouldn't suggest applying any type of oily product to acne.

  • @YouTips4U I know many people who have used it for their face and they say it helped their acne A LOT

  • Hi, thanks so much for sharing!

  • @iceramones Mangos dude! If you eat ripe mangos for 2 weeks they will go away, research it:)

  • It's not only good for skin/hair health, it also contains caprylic acid which acts as an anti-fungal. When you eat it, it kills unhealthy intestinal yeast fungi, leaving your healthy digestive bacteria intact. Too much yeast in your intestines can lower nutrient absorption causing fatigue, dull skin and hair, and digestive problems from nutrient deficiencies. Yeast produces toxins that enter your blood stream and skin cells which leads to a weakened immune system and skin blemishes.

  • Hi there, I never heard about this product, so I tried it. I LOVE IT! It smells soooo good! Thanks for the tip! Keep smiling:) ps...Happy Valentines Day!:)

  • @YouTips4U..I just want to say I was looking for a video on youtube on the benefits of coconut oil and found none as thorough as yours. I bought regular organic coconut oil today. I am going to have to check the nutrition facts before ingesting it but I am using it now on my hair as a treatment because my hair is long like yours and I also am using it on my face because of the winter. Thanks for posting this. It was very helpful!

  • Hi, thanks so much for your terrific feedback!

  • thank u , your videos are very helpful : D

  • Does coacoa nut oil help thinning hair grow back ?

becareful of safflower oil it is toxic to our bodies

  • I have not heard that about coconut oil, however, jojoba oil has been praised for helping to promote hair growth. Please check out my video on jojoba oil when you have time.

  • margerin is very close to plastic. so yes it very toxic. if you melt it and leave in in the garage it flies wont even touch it . Butter on the other hand helps your food digest and allows your body to absorb food sooo on that note butter makes things better ~SMIILES~ haha my kitty loves to lick coacoanut oil off my hands her furr is so shiny because of it yep even pets get good benefis from coacoanut oil!

  • Thanks so much for sharing :o)

  • on you or in you,,,its amazing. i use it on my skin before I workout, and i sweat like crazy

  • I use coconut oil for my hair and skin. It's a wonderful moisturizer for my face.

  • I know this may sound nutty, but my brother thinks because coconut oil is a saturated fat and hardens when below a certain degrees it will clog the pipes up when you wash it out of your hair?

So my mother thinks it cannot be used to wash your hair with because the oil will go down the pipes and clog the drain?

  • It won't. If using soap when washing hair, it will emulsify the oil and carry it out. Also, the water temperature is generally warm enough to melt the coconut oil. Coconut oil melts at around 70*F.

  • Hi, glandularmass' reply to you is correct. Coconut oil is liquid above about 76 degrees and the water we wash with is well above that. You're shampoo will simply wash it away. No worries :o)

  • it wont clog your pipes because of its low melting point,,and the liver metabolizes coconut oil quickly

  • plllzzz if you have further advice for diet tell us them cuz i'm on a diet and i really wish to lose weight. thank you

  • Hello, I just turned 33 years old and I have been noticing wrinkles around my eyes. Very deep lines, what would you recommend?? Please advice!

  • Hi, I have a video up on anti-aging. I talk about products to use and tips fo prevent wrinkles. Please check it out when you have time. In the mean time, please remember to wear sunscreen because the sun causes premature aging and will make your lines worse.

  • Is coconut oil good for your lips too? My friend took a dollop of coconut oil, put food dye in it, and made "lip gloss". I haven't tried it yet so I'm asking if its okay.

  • Hi, coconut oil for your lips is wonderful!

  • Hi :) I've been watching your videos and think their great and helpful... Do you know of something for black spots on sking (like after touching pimples)??? Thanks!!!

  • Hi, do you mean the little scabs that you get from squeezing a pimple? If so, you just have to wait until the skin heals and they fall off. You can use a cover stick/concealer with salicylic acid to help hide it while it heals. the salicylic acid will help to speed healing by drying it up.

  • So, pure vegetable oil has actually been hydrogenated to have a longer shelf life? I had no idea. I try to stay away from hydrogenated oils! I have coconut oil in my pantry that's left over from a recipe I tried. I think I'll give it a try while I'm cooking something else. Thanks for the video! Oh! And I am very interested in making a whole wheat homemade bread. Could you post a vid for that? What is a good bread machine to buy? I know thats cheating, but I think it could save me some time.

  • Bread Machines are wonderful! I totally recommend you get one. I've had one for years and I love the breads I make with it. It's so easy. My brand is no longer in business, but I'm sure there are lots of great ones out there. It is totally not cheating. You can make so many delicious varieties. My favorite was always Whole Wheat Prune believe it or not. I know that sounds funny, but it was delicious!

  • People in India have been using coconut oil for its healing & health benefits for centuries, it's always been and still is a hair care staple there..and now its become a trend here.

  • HI I have eczema so im trying to change my diet completely no wheat no soy no dairy. So If i was to cook do you recommend cooking with Olive oil or Coconut oil? as far as applying it to my skin do you recommend coconut oil or jojoba oil? please respond thank you.

  • Hi, I recommend cooking with both actually because olive oil is wonderful in some dishes, like salads, tomato sauce, etc. and coconut oil is wonderful too either as a spread instead of margarine or butter or to saute and fry foods depending on what taste you want. So why not buy both! For your skin, again I love both coconut oil and jojoba oil. It kind of depends on whether you want something lighter or heavier on your skin. For severe dryness and nighttime use coconut oil is great.

  • I love jojoba oil on my face because it doesn't clog pores and is extremely close to human sebum. Why not buy both and give them both a try. They are both excellent.

  • use coconut oil on ur eczema spots!

    it really works!!

  • I love coconut oil!.I've been using it for like a year now maybe more...I use it on my hair, nails, skin and in my diet!.Great video!.I'll subcribe! :)

  • oh yeah! one more question...

i read somewhere that coconut oil raises your cholesterol levels and is harmful that way, is that true?

    thanks.

  • Hi, it's actually been praised for it's ability to lower cholesterol. Also, it does not contain cholesterol.

  • I just subscribed!! AWESOME TIPS!! i CANT WAIT FOR YOUR NEXT VIDEO!!

  • is the smoking point of coconut oil higher or lower than extra virgin olive oil?

oh! and you have very nice skin. i thin i'll try this. thanks

  • Hi, thank you for your lovely compliment on my skin. I do try to take good care of it so I appreciate that. Coconut Oil has a much higher smoking point that olive oil and that make it excellent for frying. Coconut oil's smoking point is 350 degress and Olive Oil's is 210 degrees. Thanks so much for your comment :o)

  • Very informative!!! Awesome vid ;-)

    -Rochelle.

  • my gma gets this stuff all the time its great.

  • you can get it at walmart or whatever grocery store. it will be by the cooking oil =]

my grandma gets it all the time. t really does work great on everything =]

  • Can you leave the coconut oil in your hair?

  • Hi, you can leave it in your hair if you use a very tiny amount just as a leave -in conditioner or heat protectant. If you use too much, your hair will look greasy.

  • omg thank u this is very helpful i love ur tips, u are the best ur soo smart =)

  • I'm so glad you liked my video! Thanks for the terrific feedback :o)

  • Where can I purchase coconut oil? Also when u use olive oil which is the best brand?Should I put it on wet or dry hair?

  • coconut oil is great - I started using it on a new tattoo - in the past it took 3 weeks for my tat to heal up by using hand lotion but I started using coconut oil and my last tat healed and looks great by using coconut oil. great stuff.

  • Hi, thanks so much for sharing that terrific tip! I'm sure it will help others very much :o)

  • you can use coconut oil on a unhealed tattoo?...It wont get infected or anything?

  • I use coconut oil, i LOVE it! :) and its true, it smells amazing. I've never tried it in my hair before though. Im gonna now though. ^^

  • Let me know how you like it on your hair. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • where do you get coconut oil from

  • Which one would you most likely prefer to use on dry hair Coconut oil or Olive oil?

  • Hi, for everyday use, I prefer a small amount of coconut oil. For periodic deep conditioning treatments, both olive oil and coconut oil are great.

  • you are one of the prettiest things I've seen on youtube girl...and you look so fit!!!

your arms are amazing...don't forget about my request now ;-)

  • Thank you so much for all the information. Will try it.. I'v also heard a lot of people say that when you apply it to a bald babies head , it makes their hair grow. I don't know if that's true or not but I can at least tell that it's a great conditioner , thanks to your video. : )

  • Very good video.

  • this was very useful! thanks for posting it!

  • Thank you for doing this video! I find that after cleaning the house, dishes, etc. my hands are very very dry. I have a bathroom cabinet full of various lotions and moisturizing products that seem to just coat my skin rather than absorb in my skin. I am definitely going to try this!! It will smell nicely too!

  • YAY! Thank you for this video. I didn't think u would make it when i requested it =]

It IS very wonderful. ♥ coconut oil.

  • organic virgin oil is best but it is the most expensive and adds coconut flavor. If money is a problem a person can get refined and virgin oil and use both to save some money. Refined is still better than vegetable oil. Personally I can not stand an egg in the virgin oil. But with roast beef and green beans it is outstanding! If you try it on your skin and find it causes the skin to look worse at first but if you wait a week or two you will see beautiful skin so have patience.

  • Thank you for doing this video. I don't know why we dont here more about this amazing food that can help so many people struggling with their weight, fatigue, stomach bacteria, thyroid problems, and so much more.

i can go on forever about coconut oil because it has improved how I feel drastically and i recommend it to everyone who wants to live a better life.

Thank you for opening more peoples eyes to this great food.

  • Hi, I'm so glad you liked my video!! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful personal experience with me and others. I really appreciate your feedback. I totally agree about keeping you feeling full. That is so important for anyone trying to lose weight. It can really make a difference. I too have noticed a difference! Thanks again.

  • I have been taking coconut oil for a few months now and I have never felt better. Before the coconut oil I was tired all the time and also cold all the time. It gives me lasting energy all day. It keeps me feeling full ( I was always someone that could eat all day and this is the only thing that helps), and for once in my life I am not cold all the time. There are too many benefits of coconut oil to list and I hope more people research it b/c it is so good for you in so many ways.

  • That's so much fabulous nutrition information in this video. Thanks.

Regarding the hair, do you prefer coconut oil to olive oil?

And regarding cooking, in which cases would you use coconut oil rather than olive oil? Only for sweet things like pancakes?

  • Hi, I'm so glad you liked my video! I use both coconut oil and olive oil for my hair. I really like them both. Be careful not to use too much coconut oil when applying because unlike olive oil, if you use too much, it's harder to wash out and you don't want to have to overscrub your hair. I use coconut oil when I would normally use butter or margarine and I use olive oil for all things that call for oil. It's the only oil I use.

  • thanx for the tips... love ur hair..very beutiful..

  • Thank you for your kind compliment :o)

  • Hi! I don't know if you talked about this in you videos, but I'd like to know if there is anything good to put on my hair before/after I straighten it? Because I straighten it almost every day, and I don't want to damage it very badly.

Thank you! I love your videos!

  • Hi, I do recommend you use a heat protection spray or similar product before your straighten your hair to protect it. A small amount of coconut oil works very well to protect hair from intense heat.

  • very useful tips :) Great video , thx alot :)

  • As always, great video.

  • i love your videos

  • Thank you :o) I'm really glad to hear that.

  • Did you buy yours from the nutiva web site? I have bought the nutiva hemp shakes mighty on the tasty. They say that you can add the oil to the shakes. I am glad you did this video, now I wont be nervous to try it :)

  • wow... I didn´t klnow it can be used as an substitute for butter! amazing... I hope I find it... This tip sounds yummy ^_^ thank you...

  • I love coconut oil I use garden of life from Netrition. I put it on my peanut butter toast melt it and put into my shakes and I make a bark with chocolate and almonds that tastes just like mounds. I also use it in my hot tea. You said you use it in your breads would love to see a tube on your bread making thanks for the video

  • Hi, thanks for sharing! Your mounds recipe sounds amazing :o)
