A new piece of evidence has been added to this story: -- The shroud of Oviedo. This "face cloth" matches the Turin shroud in the blood stains that covered the face of the person buried. Even the polen particles, blood type, fibers, etc. All match. This shroud of Oviedo has been proven to date back to at least 400 AD. If those two shrouds were together at it's creation, then the theory of the Turin shroud being of the time of LDV is proven wrong.
After years of discussion, the Holy See permitted radiocarbon dating on portions of a swatch taken from a corner of the shroud. Independent tests in 1988 at the University of Oxford, the University of Arizona, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology concluded that the shroud material dated to 1260–1390 AD, with 95% confidence.[4] This 13th to 14th century dating matches the first appearance of the shroud in church history
@MacHead31 Recent Shroud documentaries show that the Carbon-14 dating wasn't done properly. IF there was REALLY a 95% confidence, they wouldn't keep making these up-to date Shroud documentaries.
Also, the boning weave fabric (which the Shroud is) was exactly what the Hebrews were using at the time of Jesus Christ.
@MacHead31 Who says, the recent Shroud documentaries are ONLY coming from the History Channel? Everything on the History Channel are lies? Should I stop watching those Adolf Hitler/WWII documentaries, too... because of their UFO documentaries?

Is the Shroud of Turin the burial wrappings of the resurrected Christ? Maybe. Maybe not. But I can tell you one thing that is unmistakably true: if it is a History Channel production, be VERY skeptical of "facts" stated and of "scholars" used - AND of QUALIFIED scholars so often NOT used. Years ago the History Channel used to produce relatively serious programs with decent scholarship. But I'm afraid that this is now long in the past.
@philipatoz Wow you came up with all that on your own or are channeling the last episode of SouthPark. I guess History Channel is dubious when trying to prove something biblical, but I wonder if you would comment similarly if they put another fictional computer animated evolutionary docu up.
@Ironwills, I'm not sure what your point is? "Trying to prove something Biblical" - what do you mean? Evolutionary doc? All I'm saying is that the history channel often puts forth many factually weak shows - or that certainly lack a comprehensive, alternative facts/views from a variety of scholarly viewpoints. When it comes to Biblical topics, they usually have a slanted view with cherry-picked scholars. Nowadays HC programs are more just entertainment - not serious history.
@arkyne88 And yes I understand that believing and trusting is hard and it's impossible until you come to understand how much God loves us...everyone including those that curse him. He understands that we are human and when you come to trust in Jesus it by no means means that you won't sin. Pray to him with an open mind and see for yourself, He'll answer you. He's not a God that want to punish people and He'll have a personal, real loving relationship with you.
@arkyne88 The only law God has is this... To love the LORD your God with all you heart mind body and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. There's nothing irrational about that. And yes, I do believe in redemption and forgiveness.
@abirdcage1 God granted us free will yes. We all do evil but if we don't accept His offer of forgiveness then it's not God sending us to hell it's us sending our self. Is a judge unjust for enforcing the laws of man and sending people to prison? No! So why do people think God is unjust for enforcing his laws? He does offer us a way out. He's not telling you to do anything but believe and trust but people choose to hate Him instead. Hell was created for the devil and his angels not man.
@MrShawnDove says, "it's not God sending us to hell it's us sending our self."
The very same could be said to Christians by Muslims. If your god can choose to put you there or not, he has a part in it. You're able to accept that man sends himself to eternal hellfire, you should be able to accept that your god also put them there.
"So why do people think God is unjust for enforcing his laws?"
Because some of the laws he supposedly enforces are irrational.
How many men were crowned with thorns during crucifixion..only Jesus..he was mocked as a king. In the shroud there are wounds in the head and forehead that are consistent with thorns pushed into the head. This shroud is totally consistent with the wounds of Christ..most crucifixion victims had their legs broken to hasten death..Christ had a spear thrust into his side..just like the image on the shroud.
@Dectheboner because the wounds you can see on the shroud agree with the gospel's description of how Jesus died. For example shows the shroud us that his legs were not broken which also agrees with the gospels. The man also bleeds from the top of the head and the back of the neck which indicates the crown of thorns
porsupuesto que no es el verdadero rostro de Dios porque Dios nunca nadie lo ha visto... @ajcool240 Everyone sins, including atheists, and all sins are wrong... so any atheist who doesn't repent of those sins are destined for Hell, because of their choice not to accept the only One whom can give them forgiveness and salvation... which is Jesus Christ (Roman 10:9,13).
@AntichristComes So God granted us all free will but in the end if we don't do as he says then he will punish us for exercising our free will? Sure thing buddy.
The concept of free will is not punishable in of itself. Instead, this would, by Christian doctrine, be what truly will separate the saved from the damned. Allegedly, since humans have decided to commit evil (herein lies the biggest problem, varying definitions of evil) acts, they have subsequently found themselves eternally damned, defying God's will, without Christ. Fully God AND man, experiences temptation but lives a perfect live, dies, and lives again. Amen.
all of these documentaries are made to bring about a mystery for others to think about. it does not try to persuade people to believe something that is false. the scientists and others are out searching for the truth. there is nothing wrong with searching for the truth and it does not make someone a false prophet to present his ideas.
Well... the body would have been in the shroud for 36 hours, tops (friday afternoon to sunday morning.) Does anyone *really* believe that it would have left an image for 2000 years?
If painters can leave their works visible even after thousands of years, and scrolls tell thell their secrets after thousands of years, why can't a cloth with an image on it do the same?
The question is HOW the image got there.....and considering the guy in question, that is one heck of a question to be asking!
Keep in mind that the Shroud image is NOT made up of sweat and oils, and NOT the product of direct contact of the body with the cloth (the hollow of the eyes would not have been in contact with the cloth, but their image is still there --not to mention that direct contact would have made 3D info impossible).
SOME kind of inexplicable phenomenon happened after about 3 days, that left a photo-neg, 3D image of a crucified man on a cloth. What is supposed to have happened onSunday?
There is a thread of evidence linking the Shroud of Turin to a shroud in Constantinople which ALSO had an image of the crucified christ on it. The shroud at Constantinople disappears after the city was sacked by Crusaders from France and Venice in 1204. A couple hundred years later, the Shroud of Turin shows up in the hands of one of the descendants of one of the leaders of the old crusader army.
no 1 will see God till we all die & resurrect..In Judgement day..false profets will fool plenty..This is were faith comes In...dont fall in 2 traps believe In him & he will protect U..His Immortal were human..need i say more..
@romagueraskatez Seeing the image of Jesus on the Shroud is not the same as seeing God in person.
As for living by faith, I agree. BUT, our faith, as described in the Holy Bible, is a FAITH WITH REASON. God said,"Come now, let us reason together..." (Is.1:18), AND, that all of creation proves God's existence, so that everyone will be without excuse on Judgment Day (Rom.1:20), AND, you are to be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you (1Pet.3:15).
@thedavielama So... there was "highly advanced technology" 1000 or 2000 yrs. ago?? ALL the evidence shows that even with today's highly advanced technology, the Shroud can't be duplicated. People have tried, and failed. The forgers would need to duplicate the Shroud without using paint pigments... good luck. They would also need to find (2) Roman coins (29 A.D.) to place over the eyes, just as the Shroud of Turin have. Whose Type A/B human blood will they use on the duplicate??
@thedavielama So you consider paleocontact hypothesis to be a "highly advanced technology"?
I could not find a single site that talked about the "paleocontact hypothesis" along with the Shroud of Turin in any way. I guess, that proves just how highly advanced that "hypothesis" is, and that there isn't a single scientist that wants to tie that "hypothesis" in with the Shroud.
@AntichristComes No. I know hypotheses are not technology. And by the way, scientists don't want to tie divinity to the shroud either. I am saying that visitation by technologically advanced "people" in the distant past, is more plausible than "divine" intervention.
@thedavielama "scientists don't want to tie divinity to the shroud either"
There are some... there are other scientists who have no problem with it.
"visitation by technologically advanced "people" in the distant past, is more plausible than "divine" intervention"
That's your opinion. There are many others who think divine intervention is more plausible, and is the only possible explanation for the image on the Shroud.
Cont... they would also need to go to Jerusalem and gather up specific plant pollens that only exist in Israel and place that in the duplicate shroud. ALL attempts to duplicate the Shroud of Turin have failed, even with TODAY'S high technology.
As Jesus said... even if someone was to be raised from the dead, people will refuse to believe in God.
Millions of Americans have returned from the dead, with their stories of Heaven or Hell, and people still refuse to believe. They have that right.
lol, it is no mystery why the image appear "inverted" on the shroud, body parts that touched the cloth would be the ones that did not cast shadows as they are not indentations, thereby these parts would give of sweat onto the cloth making the imprint.
Furthermore, the invertion of images that appear light-on-light is an old technique because the human eye is better at viewing dark-on-dark.
Documentary makers nowadays seem to try very hard at making us more stupid than we are.
I AM JESUS,
I AM THE 666 IN REVELATION,
I AM THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH...

@AntichristComes Uh, sorry pal, but I don't think anyone who believes in organized religion has the credibility to call others "brainwashed".
DLarson1083 2 months ago
@DLarson1083 I don't believe in organized religion. I believe in Jesus Christ, the only name under Heaven by which mankind can be saved.
As for credibility problems... you mean, like those whom believe in the religion of atheism?

All the evidence available simply indicates highly advanced technolgy, not divinity.
thedavielama 10 months ago
@thedavielama So... there was "highly advanced technology" 1000 or 2000 yrs. ago?? ALL the evidence shows that even with today's highly advanced technology, the Shroud can't be duplicated. People have tried, and failed. The forgers would need to duplicate the Shroud without using paint pigments... good luck. They would also need to find (2) Roman coins (29 A.D.) to place over the eyes, just as the Shroud of Turin have. Whose Type A/B human blood will they use on the duplicate??
AntichristComes 10 months ago
@AntichristComes It's called the 'paleocontact hypothesis'. Look it up.
thedavielama 10 months ago
@thedavielama So you consider paleocontact hypothesis to be a "highly advanced technology"?
I could not find a single site that talked about the "paleocontact hypothesis" along with the Shroud of Turin in any way. I guess, that proves just how highly advanced that "hypothesis" is, and that there isn't a single scientist that wants to tie that "hypothesis" in with the Shroud.
AntichristComes 10 months ago

@AntichristComes I KNOW my unconfirmed beliefs are opinions. Do you know yours are?
thedavielama 10 months ago
Cont... they would also need to go to Jerusalem and gather up specific plant pollens that only exist in Israel and place that in the duplicate shroud.

This was a great documentary done on the shroud of turin =]
arholguin 10 months ago
lol, it is no mystery why the image appear "inverted" on the shroud, body parts that touched the cloth would be the ones that did not cast shadows as they are not indentations, thereby these parts would give of sweat onto the cloth making the imprint.
Furthermore, the invertion of images that appear light-on-light is an old technique because the human eye is better at viewing dark-on-dark.
Documentary makers nowadays seem to try very hard at making us more stupid than we are.
