I love this song as much today as when it came out in 1965. It was early school days but always a fan of Del Shannon and the string of hits he had here in Australia. I just wish he kept searching. Of course, Runaway was the one that started it all and a real favorite of mine also. I really liked the comments and tributes made to the great legend. Thank you
@skateboardscience oh. oschtrayya. u mean that "country" were they still shoot at abos? did u guys have had any other music since then? since the "goo oll daiiys"?
This is by far one of my all time favourites by The Late Del Shannon...it was sad that in 1990 that He took his own life at age 50 by a self inflicted Gunshot!!!
I have always loved this song. Del was hugely popular in the UK, probably more than in America, and even after the hits dried up he was a big attraction over here. I remember hearing him being interviewed on the radio in the early 80s and he seemed a genuinely nice and modest guy. Great talent. This song was the last of his 8 UK top 10 hits, reaching no.3 in 1965. His biggest hit was of course Runaway, which was no.1 in both the US and UK in 1961. Thanks for posting this.
You folks out there can't believe how this guy and his sound blew us "kids" away in the early 60's. I was in 10th grade when "Runaway" came out. Thanks for the memories.
Runaway was burning it's way through the top forty at the time of my birth. I have always felt a cosmic connection to this ultra cool performer. Keep Searchin' is one of his many really killer tunes. Rock On Del!
Gosh, if I have any regrets in my life, it won't be because of the FABULOUS music of my generation! Age 14 when Elvis came into being! You know the rest!
I loved Del from the very first time my dad played his music. Me & my Sister would always grab that album & play it every chance we had. I want to see more Del Shannon on YouTube!
I agree the Del Shannon never got enough credit, but just as bad, Max Crook who was the othjer half of Del Shannon music never got hardly any credit. His keyboard really made Del shannons music what it was. loved them together.
The scans of the go-go girls dancing in the background easily makes this footage the best of Del's "Keep Searching videos. It was the best of times. 110% rated.
RE: i agree man - but the synching! why cant they get it right? it drives me crazy!
Yup, jb-the vid isn't the best for sync, but with everything else that's goin' on, from the smilin' guys with the ties (so very 60's HS dress code) to the "bum-wiggle" from the blonde on the left at 1:07, I'll definitely cut the editor a bit 'o slack, LOL.
hey, im twenty years old and i live in London the Uk, I ADORE all del shannons music, my dad pretty much played it all the time when i was growing up...
While "American Graffetti" pumped his biggest charting hit, "Runaway", I've always felt "Keep Searching" had more power and appeal with the instantly recognizable opening bars, building vocal crescendo, and roaring middle keyboard instrumental. Del was truely the sound of the 60's. I feel priviledged to have lived during his greatest era. RIP, Del. You were loved by many.
Del Shannon, what a great talent. So sad to hear of his death. Del WAS the sound of the early sixties. His songs, like this one, I remember were blaring from stereos everywhere. Rest in Peace Del, and thank you for the great songs.
I was playing this track when my son (19) came in and he amazed me by singing along with it, normally his taste in music is, well, terrible. I asked him how he new the track. He turned to me an said that this track is awesome and that he had played it on his computer many times.
He took his own life because he suffered from clinical depression. He wasn't morally challenged, nor was he a failure. He was a very ill man, so try to show some compassion.
yes, he would have performed on PBS......I know that for sure. He talked about doing small stuff when he was going to retire............so sad........God Bless Del..Amen
Ths song gives me cold chills. This man did so much to shape my early musical growth. I can't ever remember him playing a Fender Stratacaster though as he is in this video. Thank you!
