I'd say it's very easy to pick up MT in this game. I had never used them before in any arcade racer and after five or so races I felt comfortable with them. After building up the speed at start you only use them for shift drifting, so they're pretty easy to get used to.
Very cool. After all these years I still haven't gotten used to using manual in this game. Though I need to as it's key to racing at high levels.
