Many may not be aware of this, but he was born BLIND and that he has accomplished all this by acuity of touch, auditory, and just sheer will power motivated by an incredible love of music. This is jaw-dropping stuff---the kind that legends are made of. I am still agape. Imagine learning a piece this complex by ear!!!! I cannot. And I have the nerve to call myself a musician!!
More painfully beautiful stuff from Nobuyuki: Un sospiro "Trois etudes de concert S. 144" (the sigh) and "Rigoletto (Paraphrase de concert) S. 434" by Franz Liszt. These are on Nobuyuki's "Pictures at an Exhibition" CD. The tracks are downloadable from iTunes and the CD itself can be gotten from cdjapan.co.jp.
As someone who came along late but has become an ardent Tsujii fan, I want to belatedly thank Baloon0429 for posting this and other videos of Nobu's performances. What a great way to spread the appreciation for this amazing artist. Bravos!
On a lighter note: Nobuyuki Tsujii is scheduled to play this concerto (Rach 2) in Japan with conductor Yutaka Sado and the BBC Orchestra in at least 9 concerts throughout March of 2011. I heard from a contact in Japan that you have to put your name into a lottery in order to have a chance to get tickets!
Speaking of achingly beautiful - I wish more people would listen to Nobuyuki's Chopin scherzo No. 2 from his "debut" album - downloadable from iTunes, and his "My Favorite Chopin" album available from cdjapan.co.jp. The beauty of these performances floors me.

@ chopincake, Like you said, painfully beautiful.
Great work from this boy. Never saw something that close from a miracle.
Great work also from the camera, that captured so well this intelligent and sensitive player.

演奏は、指揮者の息遣いを合図に入るようです。素晴らしいですね。

伸行さんの音って、どうしてこんなに澄んでいるのでしょう(泣)
一音一音を大事にされていて、ピアノも喜んでいる感じがします。

...this is the true meaning of "amazing"!
i don't even know what to say...i'm happy that this man has received his "fairness" from this world for what he did/does for us.
..and that even though he's blind, he achieved so much and shares as much with the rest of the world through his talent.
this is ... painfully beautiful ... : )
