I respect Alan Wake the game and thought the character alan wake was well thought out also, but I don't think alan should win most compelling character. I think John Marston should definitely win that category. Every aspect of him that rockstar made was perfect for the game and changed the way that I would normally play. Also he was #2 on gameinformers list of the top video game characters of all time, so apparently im not the only one who thinks this.

It was a tough choice picking between Alan Wake and Heavy Rain. But where as Heavy Rain focuses more on the multiple characters. Alan Wake focuses mostly on Alan Wake and what he is going through. Doing this makes you follow Alan Wake closely and feel very sympathetic with him. While Heavy Rain definitely had a better story, You sympathize better with Alan Wake.
