George Hodel did it. I'm convinced. The mutilations on the body and the handwriting did it for me. Plus, he had surgical skills, high intelligence, extreme arrogance, an interest in surrealism, wealth, he traveled alot and HE WAS A SUSPECT! That is a fact. Steve already admitted on his website that one of the photos was not E. Short. The real woman came forward. She was an actress. My opinion, I think he confessed to Steve before he died.
@breakyourfaceee The door is a work of Duchamp called "Étant donnés" through which you can see that first woman. I know Dr. Hodel was an entusiast of surrealism, but I don't like this comparison - it's somewhat unrespectable with the crime.
Hodel's book doesn't prove anything. He starts from a mistaken premise (that the pictures he found in his father's possession were Elizabeth Short -- not only were they not, the two pictures were not even of the same woman) and then stretches logic without giving a shred of credible evidence to purport that his father did it. Now he's trying to claim that his father is also the Lipstick Killer and the Zodiac -- probably to support his original assertion that he murdered Elizabeth Short.
@tomwhite56 you right about the real pictures but the bottom line is he hated woman proven, also he was a major suspect dont you find that weird. also the composite of the other murder that the bd left a note is his dad no doubt about it.Things happened for a reason and I do beleive that Steve thinks his dad is the killer to short a 100%
@gracenotes555 Who knows for sure he started the piece before she was killed after all it wasn't until he finished 'Étant donnés' that people realised he was still actively pursuing art. Not saying he had anything to do with it but there are similarities with other pieces too. For instance, the Man Ray piece 'A L'heure de L'observatoire - les Amoureux' with lips similar to the slash across Elizabeth Shorts mouth, which also has a nude female form.
Get Steve Hodel's amazing solution to the crime, His own father, George, killed the Black Dahlia and many others in a 50 yr crime spree...riveting book, proves the case. It is "MOST EVIL."
Dude, don't make this mistake here. This work has nothing or very little to do with the Black Dahlia case. The female form depicted in Duchamp's work is NOT bisected, nor is it a corpse. Get it straight man.
It should rather read: 'Life imitating Art'.

people paint nudes all the time, the only reason this is at all similar is because she's lying in weeds. that's it.
not to mention he started on this piece before she was killed, and he lived in france...

This dark little video is ominous but is it true? Did Duchamp intentionally depict the Dahlia murder in his final work?
