  • Omg I'm originally from st paul MN west st paul before it became an ugly mexican ghetto like today. Anyways my point is my father was the best damned manager NSP ever had before they became xcel and screwed him over during the merger, anyways he had a stroke last year. Even though it was just a small stroke it scared the hell out of me and everyone who knows him his name is Lee and a recipient of the spurgeon award. I'm so happy to still have him in my life just like your dad he's my hero too.

  • i want your arms.

  • That story made me appreciate my dad more. Thank you.

  • Omg that's story's so touching. You have great drawing skills, btw!

  • @sepifi Thank you for the amazing comment. I learned to draw in Dennys. Seriously. My parents travelled quite a bit and we ate a lot of late dinners at Dennys. To keep me busy, mom would get a stack of placemats and a ballpoint pen. I ran a lot of pens dry. An artist without passion is like a writer with nothing to say. There is a ton of great art out there that has no perceivable connection to the heart. That's what I look for too. Thanks for noticing mine. I'm glad it shows.

  • HAHA! Really? In Denny's? That's amazing! I wish I could draw like that. I actually go to an art school, but my major is photography, so my drawing skills are kinda...meh... (not that ALL photo majors can't draw...I know a bunch that can, I'm just not one of them...lol) I mean, I can draw still lives, but that's about it.

    And you're quite welcome. :D

  • Que rico es dibujar ... De aleja por un momento de lo real y te sumerja en tus pensamiento.

    2 things-

Your left handed!! Horra! go lefties :D

Is that a moleskine your drawing on>? I absolutely adore them. I have a number of moleskines personaly. I wish i could draw as well as you, maybe with some practice :D

  • @tek5828 Thank you. I love the moleskine journals. I can't seem to get enough of them.

  • Where i live in Aus is pretty void of culture... so the only opportunity i seem to find to purchase moleskines are either when my mother goes to Melbourne or here in Hong Kong or even in Europe.

I addore mine but, since my drawing skills are not as satisfactory as yours i tend not to use them, just watch and adore them as they sit upon my shelf :D

Would be nice one day if i could fill them with beautiful artwork like yours.

  • I understand the adoration. Buying a moleskine is just a happy thing. A perfect day of purchases would be to buy an ipod, a pack of sharpie pens, an itunes and starbucks gift card, and a moleskine. Find a comfortable leather chair, put in the earbuds, and take a vacation. That's a good day.

  • Aha sounds good! Must try that sometime. I love the quality and atmosphere of the moleskines.

  • Wow this is one of the few videos I love, it's just so heartwarming and beautiful, and that with out the story. With the story it just leaves one smiling at the pleasant thought of what you do to communicate now. Really hope things look up for you.

  • So cool!!

  • Just awesome!!! Thanks for your inspiration.

  • Hey man, am sorry bout your dad, and your art is beautiful. Stay strong.

  • Thank you. The sketch took about 25 minutes.

  • Thanks for the kind words and the question. In this case, I knew what I wanted to sketch. Just a moment as it was (as far as I can remember...) but as you go along, memories add in details like the note pinned to the wall, the old box that held his pens and pencils, the frost on the windows, the squeaky hinge on the back of his chair, my Grandfathers hat that for some reason I thought looked cool. Details like that emerge in the middle of the sketch. Thanks again. Peace.

  • Super nice. The music timed with it really made it special. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Thank you so much. The response to this has been an encouragement to my whole family today. Hundreds of comments, well wishes, and prayers have undone us with gratitude. It's been an amazing thanksgiving day. Peace to you.

  • Aw, Kayla. We love you too. Britain just played me a song of yours I've never heard before. Would be perfect for a sketch!

  • Wow. You made my day. Thank you for the kind words.
